I am building my FMS PA-18 right now March 2021 - and found a few issues - the Wing and Horizontal Stab spars are way to short for the tubes - I have purchased replacement carbon spars that run the full length of the tubes that are in the wings and Horizontal Stab.. also found (no big deal) mind had a few Pushrods incorrectly fitted.. - but I am still looking forward to getting it into the Air once our UK Lockdown is relaxed...

And with all the bad weather this time of year keeping me grounded, I've been catching up on some videos. While watching this unboxing and seeing this Cubs wings, I was wondering if replacing the simulated vortex generators would be beneficial? Maybe using some thin light plastic sticking up 1/16" +/- . Whatcha think?
Hi, is there a radio system you'd recommend to put in this that includes some sort of SAFE technology like that on the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S+ which includes Geo Fence given this one's size?
Actually, I do NOT use any stabilization in my models... all my videos are old fashioned, stick and rudder hand flying:) I prefer that people fly the plane without any automation, it is more rewarding and more of an accomplishment knowing it was all you flying the plane:)
If you are new to the hobby and want to keep your airplane in one piece longer, my first recommendation is a simulator and transmitter. That said Spectrum does have the AS3X recievers, but it only corrects wind conditions and if your transmitter's "sticks" are in a nosedive into the ground, that's where it will go. The "geo-fence" is another "must be set" feature that only turns the plane around if it passes a "boundry" set by distance. If you can't control the plane after it turns around, it will literally spiral into the ground. I use AS3X only because it's windy where I live, but normally it doesn't even kick in when it's calm. Short of auto-pilot there is no "magic-save-my-plane" feature short of practice until your plane is more glue than foam.
A simulator is a great idea & a great training aid to practice at home with... However, here is the bottom line if you are new to the hobby. The one key to being successful is to have a good instructor! You can disregard all the gadgets out there, a good instructor makes all the difference:)

Wow, long time no talk Ron! Just saw this and for $230 it's a steal. I've been looking for a good replacement for my Carbon Z that went to "Z" heaven a couple months ago. Great review. Thanks for the details. Jim G, Seattle
Its very good that Fms remove the Assembly time Also tell me is fms typhoon required some weight at nose side and how much? Because in manual it show 40 to 45mm from leading edge but @ that point its tail is too heavy.

I like the servo placement for elevator & rudder, like that on 11 hobby. more snappy and less chance of wire hang ups.Great job on all your videos.

Yes! Good call. It will fly the same only heavier. Bigger more power more stable. Don’t be afraid!
