  • Learn about the major Psych concepts that are important to know, therapeutic communication and how to answer mental health questions. Practice Q&A on mental health and learn the rationales for each.
    ***********Clarification: If a patient is increasing in agitation such as yelling, pacing or threatening you move the patient. If the patient is actively throwing things or being physically abusive, you remove everyone else to safety and away from the immediate danger. **************

    You just simply make someone love nursing. Since I started listening to you, I have been able to understand so many things about disease process, how the body works. There is a reason am going into nursing and that purpose is beginning to be fulfilled. Thanks so much.

    I'm confused about question 9. Isn't 13,000 high...indicating an infection? But she said agranulocytosis twice, I thought that was a low WBC. I know that that med can lower WBC, but I thought 13k was high.

    • @whitneydavis9423
      @whitneydavis9423 ปีที่แล้ว

      13,000 is high which is a sign of infection. Agranulocytosis is a reduction in the number of granulocytes in the blood. Which leaves you susceptible to infections so because the WBC is high (infection) I think don't quote me on this... The number of granulocytes (bacteria killing cells) in the blood is low which is why the patient was prone to an infection. Which explains why they have an infection (high WBC) because they didn't have enough granulocytes to fight off the bacteria... So now we're worried about Agranulocytosis.... This is my guess I'm not 100% sure... I'm still in school 😂

    Can anyone explain the agranulocytosis question? Every reading and video that I've seen states that WBC will be lower NOT higher than expected.
    Also, anyone have any tips for studying for a HESI exam. I've taken it 3 times. Always scoring just below the 850 mark that's needed. Thank you all for your help.

    • @kimmacking9918
      @kimmacking9918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just about to say this, agranulocytosis is lowered WBC and contraindication of Clozapine is immunosuppression due to low WBC. I think she stated the opposite. Need clarity.
      Edit: I just researched the medication itself and leukocytosis isn’t a reason to stop medication. Only point of stopping clozapine is agranulocytosis.
