The way I heard the story, the Parliament committee asked Saint Sophrony what would be their contribution to the UK. When their response was that they were simply coming to pray, the committee was about to refuse them permission, but an MP told the committee that on that basis they would have refused Jesus Christ but not Judas Iscariot, and the committee changed their minds as a result.
I was definitely reminded of that scrolling Facebook briefly yesterday and saw that a former co-worker has an album called "MAGA Morons." Certainly inflamed passions in me in wanting to respond.

We only have one day at a time. We will not succeed completely in doing the right things in that day but we can ask forgiveness We can then start afresh in a new day with God's help . I think St Antony of the Desert taught this!
I listen to this particular episode once a week. I do this medicinally.
Anyway, my point is, even though I know the line is coming, I still laugh hard when Fr Stephen repeats someone’s question, “Do you think it’s going to get worse!”
Glory to God for Fr. Stephen's wisdom...and sense of humor!

I felt this very hard. Like, to my core.
Never did Facebook, but was a frequent contributor to political forums. Quit those 2 years ago when I got married. Life is short - too short to waste time getting worked up about events that are outside of my control.

So very true! My grandmother always said “Goodness swims in a bowl of evil.” And as I age more and more I see it. Secularity is considered a God, and the cult of ME it’s angel. I’ve been unplugged from social media for over 3 years, it was the best thing I could have done. I no longer listen to the mass appeal, instead I do my best to live better in this world, for others sake, not my own. I’m a sinner, I know it, but today like all others, I bow my head, ask forgiveness and begin again.

This thoughts are very clear and helpful. I really appreciate. And it helps me, understanding more the direction of how to deal with every day questions of life living not in a monastery but within the modern world. Is there more of it? Like Father Thomas Hopko spoke about it? Or other interviews maybe available. I think this really hits a deep nerve of society...because this is not just showing how is Orthodoxy and what does it mean. this is showing what is the meaning and benefit of Christianity itself within this world....in the original Church of Christ. And by that giving the light, life and the pictures and understanding of Christian life as an alternative for the modern world life style, that finally leads in all ways into death....as Father Stephen said so fittingly.
