In your intro, I really like that first brief shot of Keith writing a note or a letter, just as the song goes "I tell a story". What you guys are doing, is indeed writing a story with your boat and your journey.
Loved the mother daughter adventure scenes. Kate looked so peaceful sitting in that patch of wispy tall grass. What great memories you guys are making.
We are praying for a great weather window for you all. I think the Bass Strait is overall going to be more challenging than the bite, but prove this comment wrong 😉 We have just enjoyed three months sailing the south west and it was absolutely fabulous. Caves and forests, beautiful scenery, gorgeous water, interesting beaches and I love how the sand changes anchorage to anchorage. Busselton is a great place to stop but you really need some south to stay there. Beautiful holiday town. Bunbury provides a refuge from the easterly winds and then the next place to stop is Mandurah. Mandurah has sting ray wharf in the channel entrance where you can stop and rest overnight for free, but you want to watch the tide coming in, the higher the tide the better or you can stop in the anchorage and pick up a public free mooring. Hit me up if you need anything marked. Hopefully we will meet you when you get go Freo.
Renee is amazing on video’s. I’ve been binge watching every night from your first episode and she has improved amazingly. She’s definitely a professional now.
I thought I had my life goals all figured out and then I found your channel. I guess I’ll just have to live vicariously through you all for awhile. Keep living the best life and God bless you all.
As an old Esperance boy and veteran of 3 bight crossings, you’re most likely to get easterlies at this time of year. Stay north, around the 200 metre depth line. And make sure you stop for a few days at Daw Island at the western end of the crossing, about 120 miles east of Esperance.
Great video guys. Renee thx for all your hard work editing it really pays off for us viewers. Really nice to see the kids contribute to the sailing, you have taught them a real special life skill.
I'll be honest, I was passively watching this episode. I have to applaud your transitions though. The underwater to hillside @14:30 was fantastic! Keep up the good work Zatara! (time for a re-watch)
Southern Australia sure has some challenging sailing. 3 years on a 45ft sloop, it seemed the wind never dropped under 25 knots. Ever. The entrance to Melbourne is outrageous. Hair raising. Enjoy!
Love the channel. That moment when you all said goodby to the Cruising Kiwis. They seem to have become special friends of yours. Hopefully you will see them soon. God Bless!
Great video Renee. Loved watching you and Kate on your walk. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The kids have become great help now since they have grown up and been on the water so much. Keith is just great about figuring everything out. My favorite family and Thursday seems to be my favorite day. Sending all my love as always and stay safe my friends.😍
Great video this week. Shout-out to Kate; I watch WandaVision too! Elizabeth Olsen is one of my favorite actresses. Thanks for sharing. I am so hoping you share video of the crossing between Melbourne and Perth. Have fun and stay safe Z-Crew!!
After finding your videos a few weeks ago, I'm FINALLY caught up! Love following the adventure and seeing your family working together and growing together. Now, I have to exercise some patience, since I can't binge watch multiple episodes in one sitting haha.
Wow, Coff's is a bit different from the last time I was there in 1979. Had a great time, especially at the Hoey Moey. Best of luck for the rest of your adventure Keith and Rene, Looking forward to the next excellent video. Smooth sailing to ya'll!!!!
You will be in for some great times in WA! Watching “Free Range Sailing “ Troy shared an atlas that showed every nook and cranny of WA. Just watch out for the crocodiles! The fishing was incredible and snorkeling was even better! Fair winds my friends!
Love WandaVision, and I got say I love you guys too, thanks for giving me something that I look forward to watching each week as much as WandaVision!!!
Wow guys what a difference a few hours make! We left from the Goldie the same morning as you but at about 3am, once the wind picked up we had a steady 30 knots the entire way to Yamba where we hunkered down for that low to blow through. Safe travels crossing to WA :-)
Ive watched so many of your videos in the last 3 days. Im obsessed with your adventures. And Keith seems like such a fun guy. You're my new fa sailing channel.
So Happy to get My Zatara fix again today. The night passage went well. Enjoy your time off and best wishes as move around the Australian Continent! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😎😎
i watch a lot of sailing youtube and have never seen a camera mounted high upon the mast and pointed downward toward the deck of the boat. i think this view would be unique, encompassing the work done on deck to sail the boat, and really show the full movement of the boat in relation to the seas!
Hey Keith, PLEASE don't be in a hurry to get down to Melbourne and over to WA. There are SO many nice places around Sydney to go visit: The Hawksbury River, Sydney harbour, Botany Bay, The Port Hacking, Wattamolla Inlet (is a nice day sail from Port Hacking and a picnickers paradise) to name a few!!! You'll really be missing somethings that are very special if you hurry down the coastline.
Long time fan, don’t think I have said much, but I think it would be cool if you guys met up with the guys and gals of bondi rescue :), Look forward to the next video, hope to one day get a boat :).
Love the new updated intro - Renee you are just great filming, editing and creating these videos - especially when you and Kate went for a stroll - it was so zen. Watching you guys from Toronto Canada!
There is a real nice place not far from Eden. It’s called green cape and it is so nice there. Good place for fishing , catching oysters , lobsters , busy walking etc. I highly recommend 👍
We love your Channel & have been watching since the beginning. With all of your time in North East Australia...we are really surprised you didn’t spend lots of time exploring the Great Barrier Reef! As much as you love diving, we figured it would be a must stop for you. It’s #1 on my bucket list! Lol
Hope you guys make it to Perth as many tourists don't go that far west. No offence to Easterners but Perth was by far the best, and cleanest, city I've ever visited (and that's a lot). I'm a Canadian who backpacked throughout Australian 30 years ago for 11 months (everywhere except Tas; couldn't make it there unfortunately) on a student work visa and loved the amazing country and the amazing people. Top 5 things for me in Oz (in no particular order): Perth, Kakadu Nat'l Park, Ayers Rock, Great Barrier Reef and the absolutely amazing and friendly people. Favourite job I had: Jackaroo. Job didn't pay much but the experience was fantastic and I will never forget it. (If you can travel up the western coast I suggest places like Broome and Monkey Mia.) Only downside of Oz: I have never seen so many flies in one place in my entire life not to mention the deadly varieties of snakes and spiders you have there. And, of course, you have be very careful of those hoop snakes and drop bears ... :)
From a fellow Texan, really enjoy watching you guys probably above any other channel ( I do like Sailing to Freedom too). Really excited to see the southern and western Aussie coasts and wild areas. Good luck, and stay safe!
This is so cool I’ve been watching you guys for a long time now and that you all have come to Coffs Harbour where I live is pretty cool have a great time
Starting to get exciting now you're up for the challenge of the Bight. Hope you don't have to wait too long in Adelaide etc. The weather here in Perth is nice up until end of May. Looking forward to see you all.
Not gonna lie I kind of dreamt that my parents left me at home for three weeks so I flew to Sydney and sailed around the world on Zatara with you guys. I apologise if this freaks you out I don’t mean to be creepy but it was just a really nice dream. I love you content and just get excited when new videos come out!!👏👍🏼👍🏼
Nothing creepy about that at all. It’s a dream and I bet you enjoyed it. Dreams are.healthy ways your mind connects with your subconscious. Any psychiatrist would tell you that’s a healthy dream.
I don’t know why but I feel uneasy with y’all taking that route, not that I know anything about it just read comments about it’s challenges. I’m praying for your safety, hope it’s going well so far !!! Blessings from northern Minnesota....spring is coming :))
They're doing it at the right time of year hopefully catching some late summer easterlies. The main problem is catamarans generally don't sail well to windward, so they might have to fire up those engines a lot. Should be a fun trip. Lot of wild, remote country along the southern and western coasts of the Australian continent.
Hi guys welcome to AU. while you going down the east coast I can recommend drop into Tasmania, it very nice place with great food and wine and places to do day walks etc. Also Kangaroo Island is another good place to drop into too. Enjoy your videos, safe travels.
I read in a book somewhere about a sailing ship that was trying to get across to Perth from the east coast. They gave up after a month and sailed East around the world. They got perfect sailing weather all the way around and didn't take them that long. It's basically circumnavigating Antarctica after all.
George, something like this? "It is very likely that, on arriving, some cheerful Australians will 'adopt' you, and on your first night, and take you to a pub where Australian Beer is served. Despite the obvious danger, do not refuse. It is a form of initiation rite. You will wake up late the next day with an astonishing hangover, a foul-taste in your mouth, and wearing strange clothes. Your hosts will usually make sure you get home, and waive off any legal difficulties with "It's his first time in Australia, so we took him to the pub.", to which the policeman will sagely nod and close his notebook. Be sure to tell the story of these events to every other Australian you encounter, adding new embellishments at every stage, and noting how strong the beer was. Thus you will be accepted into this unique culture."
I suggest stopping in Adelaide if you can. It's a great town, like old time small town USA. Great wine, lots of free wine tasting, and the best lamb in australia!
In your intro, I really like that first brief shot of Keith writing a note or a letter, just as the song goes "I tell a story". What you guys are doing, is indeed writing a story with your boat and your journey.
I follow at least 15 sailing channels. Sailing Zatara is by far my favorite. You all absolutely rock!! Carry On
Loved the mother daughter adventure scenes. Kate looked so peaceful sitting in that patch of wispy tall grass. What great memories you guys are making.
Love how all the kids contribute and pull their weight! It’s a Family...but It’s truly a Team! Great values, great Lessons!! 👍

Kate looks more and more like Anna every day. Growing up into a beautiful young lady
Heyyy I live in Coffs lovely place glad you came to visit
Q&A question, is jack planning on going to college? Second question, is Anna coming back on the boat in the summer?
I'm buying a sailboat NEXT year! Can't wait to have my own adventures!! It's channel's like yours who inspire to do better!
Kate is growing up into some kinda legend. What an awesome role model for any young girl.
Keith seems excited about some technical sailing legs of the trip! You all take care and thanks for sharing your adventures as always.
The style of Kate's glasses really compliment her face. Safe sailing!
Your mother is like a professional videographer. Just wow the edits and everything are just great
Always kinda cool seeing your home town featured! Coffs is spectacular - glad you got a few days to enjoy it.
I thought I had my life goals all figured out and then I found your channel. I guess I’ll just have to live vicariously through you all for awhile. Keep living the best life and God bless you all.
TH-cam is lucky to have you. Some of us would be off of this platform if not for you. Thanks. Loving your adventures!

Everyone looks great and ready for action....glad all is going well for you guys!
Your editing skills on these videos are premium.
Thank you for sharing your lives and adventures.
I thought Kate was pretty tough skateboarding shoeless but then when she climbed down the rocks, too. Wow! My feet would be in pain.
Always a joy to "hang out" with your family. Thanks again for sharing 😊
I'll be honest, I was passively watching this episode. I have to applaud your transitions though. The underwater to hillside @14:30 was fantastic! Keep up the good work Zatara! (time for a re-watch)

More interesting with the virus🙄
"The entrance to Melbourne is outrageous. Hair raising.". Been through it many times with no drama at all.
Y’all be safe and keep your guard up!

Your kids are blessed with parents like you
Absolutely love these Thursday videos. Always look forward to them. You guys be safe. God Bless
Finn has got his priorities straight. He hasn't even tied up, and is figuring out where the skate park is.
In 3 years he will have another set of priorities
Still the best intro and music!
Aw thanks!!

It's the Sailing Kiwis!!!
When Keith was plugging in for shore power with all those jumpers, I immediately thought of Clark Griswold in Xmas Vacation... 🤡
Right?!!
Esperance is lovely..... Don't miss Albany..... absolutely fabulous natural harbour.
I loved the mom&daughter adventure 💖😊
Not gonna lie I kind of dreamt that my parents left me at home for three weeks so I flew to Sydney and sailed around the world on Zatara with you guys. Why do I feel the same love the vids sadly I'm 14 and can't afford a boat but luckily me and my dad are avid fishermen out of kachmak Bay in alaska

Our son spent several days in Coff's Harbour in 2017. He loved it there.

Off the Prom 13 hrs ago! Doesn’t look like they stopped off, big mistake! Nicest part of Victoria.😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺
Get to Perth and I'll buy you guys a round of beers at the Rottnest Pub!
