Cody, much like Drew McIntyre is yet just another example of Vince not seeing what he has right in front of him and slapping a gimmick so awful on them there was no way in hell they could ever raise their stock in the company. Massive respect to both guys for not giving up after having the opportunity of a life time, having it taken away from them and coming back stronger than ever.

Cody’s story and rise to the top is the most inspirational story of wrestling for me, alongside Drew McIntyre’s. The fact that he was able to comeback from the absolute lows in WWE and become the biggest modern star today just gives me chills. Becoming the American Nightmare truly shows how much he’s grown. His AEW stuff truly was great and showed me how much passion he has for this business and I cried during some of his promos for how beautiful they were. And when he returned to WWE, the rest is history, it deadass blew everyone away, and pretty much defined wrestling’s #1 saying, “Never Say Never”. His rivalry with Seth is one of the all time best I’ve seen and his HITC match just made me respect him more. Now he’s sadly injured, and I pray when he returns, he wins the Rumble, and wins the WWE championship at WrestleMania for his father. Truly a beautiful story, and I’m happy to witness it all. I’ll forever love Cody until the end. Absolutely amazing documentary, homie.👍

Cody Rhodes earned my respect in that Hell in a Cell match. Why anyone would do that to themselves in the first place is beyond me but I'm grateful all the same. Thank you Cody for being the babyface we all needed.
Cody Rhodes is the main reason why my love for WWE is slowly returning....I stopped watching around 2017 when I was like 14 or so, now im 19 and seeing Cody STRUGGLE to get a world championship title is amazing. You have Roman Reigns dominating, and then you have Cody rhodes doing everything he can to get that title, but it wont be easy...he tried it at Wrestlemania 39 and failed, but thats just part of his journey. He will fight others before trying to go for it again.
My favorite thing about Cody in AEW was that he didn't make himself an unstoppable wrestling God. He lost matches, struggled, and suffered. Even though I had a suspicion, when he arrived at Wrestlemania this year, I want absolutely NUTS! He isn't just Dusty's son, and Dustin's brother, but a genuine superstar. I hope WWE continues to give him his due honors, otherwise there are tons of places he could go to wrestle!

From time to time, a wrestler's arc taps into something deeper. As a lifelong fan since around 1990, the story that moved me the most was Daniel Bryan's WWE rise as it not only built upon his many years as a relatively underground wrestler carving out a legacy outside WWE, but his grassroots, 100% organic explosive fan following began to reflect the spirit of people's uprisings around that time of 2011-14. When it became clear that McMahon didn't see Bryan as their new #1, despite him being even hotter than CM Punk at his hottest, and after all we'd gone through with Punk's questionable presentation, fans full on revolted. Of course, this would all be co-opted and presented as part of the planned journey, but that's not how it began - it began with fans refusing to stop chanting for him until the machine did what needed to be done. Cody's arc is another of those. A lot of people failed to understand how fans like me could go from being down on him in AEW to supporting him so passionately in his WWE return. We need stories like Cody's to be possible. As a working or lower middle class man, depending how you see it, I need to know that a capable and ambitious person can go out, put in the effort of all efforts, take some risks, graft, and ultimately succeed. It's quite literally the American dream, though it applies in any similarly structured society. It helps that we're born in the same year, and even lost parents around the same time. We have little else in common, but I've found him oddly relatable despite our wildly different backgrounds. In the end, that's pro-wrestling in a nutshell - being able to convince people whom you share nothing in common with that your journey is theirs. There's a carny element to Cody's self presentation, and I admire it the same way I admire a magician for being skilled enough to pull off a convincing illusion. If you believe it, and you're capable of it, you can be it. Won't always prove true, but when it does? That's when they've got you.
Cody Rhodes totally made himself when he worked for ROH and NJPW and when he created AEW with with Kenny Omega and The Young Bunks, he just succesfully proved himself as a star. *after a long pause, Drew holds up the mic*
“Y’know Roman, I came into this business with nobody’s respect, I had to earn it, I had to earn a chance to be in this company. I had to climb to the top to get my moment, I HAD TO CLIMB THE LONG LADDER TO GET TO WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW WHILE YOU WERE TOO BUSY BEING ONE OF THE MOST OVERPUSHED SUPERSTARS IN THE HISTORY OF THIS COMPANY! YOU DIDNT EARN A THING! YOU JUST RETURNED AT SUMMERSLAM, ATTACKED THE FIEND AND BRSUN STROWMAN, AND JUST LIKE THAT YOU HAVE YOUR TITLE SHOT! YOU USE YOUR COUSINS, YOU MAKE THIS ALL ABOUT FAMILY BUT THE TRUTH IS ITS ALL ABOUT YOU! YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE IN ALL THE MAIN EVENTS! YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE ON ALL THE POSTERS! *YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE CHAMPION!”*
*Drew puts so much emotion into this promo, and gets the crowd fired up, as Michael Cole says*
“What a way to close to smackdown tonight! And it’s official, tomorrow night at WWE Clash at the Castle, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship”
So anyone like my idea?
Cody should've never left the company he helped create!
