I love that both of them were comfortable to let each other do what warmed their hearts. I am sure hubby was very comfortable with his abilities and had researched. Plus we don’t know if they were communicating. I would love to spend a vacation with the 2 of them. So fun! Just a yr late!!!

If you ever visit Ketchikan, you should do what they did in the previous year, spend a few days. You can't fit in most things in one day, especially the 6-8 hours a cruise ship is in town.

That was an outstanding video Lauren and Mark!🦀🦭🐳🐋🪼I remember your video last year and the place where you stayed up on the hill. I remember the raspberry bushes out back and the bear encounter. One of my most desired bucket list items is to see totempoles. I'm an artist, and it combines two of my favorite things, trees and illustrations of animals/wildlife. I bet you're exhausted, but you'll never forget all of the things you got to do, see, and eat. Mark had so much fun diving. He really should become a ranger or tour guide when he retires. Thank you again for a wonderful, rich experience in Ketchikan.

I 100% agree about Mark diving alone. We need to be more careful. The people from snorkel Alaska were there for a good chunk of the time, but that’s not 100. Thanks for looking out for us.

officer and swore he would never get on another ship . Covid and health issues cancelled our plans but we are now scheduled to go the second week of August this year 2023. Your video’s are the absolute best I have seen !! We are retired military and we have lots of friends who have lived in Alaska. Your content and knowledge is incredible and very interesting. So glad you did the WARD CREEK trail. With two small kids we did that loop around the lake MANY times. Safest hiking trail in the area, very pretty as well. Pavilions were great for a picnic! Staved away to boredom on many occasions.

    Good Afternoon Hamm Family ❤️
Finally, I'm catching up on the Cruise videos. Only 2 today, but it's happening. Life has been busy and a migraine have both delayed my dose of Alaska. Time to rectify that situation 🙂
Ketchikan... just as beautiful as the last visit. I love the scenic beauty, the sites and history. Beautiful statues, art, etc. I'm so happy the weather has cooperated throughout your cruise. Ketchikan by Mustang, is even better 🏞️
I do believe Mark is part fish... if his DNA were tested it'd come back with some ancient fish people DNA. And, Polar Plunge anyone... Mark, of course 🧜🏻‍♂️
Thank you for sharing your dive Mark. So beautiful. I could never hold my breath that long. Before my dietary choice changed, scallops were one of my favorite foods 🤿
The shops are awesome, from window shopping to breaking the bank, I love perusing the goods, all the goods, as my Mark hides the cash and cards 🤑
A library... just drop me off here. Getting me in is easy. Getting me out... well... good luck with that 🤓
Gorgeous, beautiful views. I just can't get enough 🏞️
Question 1: how do Alaskans deal with steep roadways during winter with all the snow and ice? All I can imagine are a bunch of cars turning into toboggans as they slip and slide: bumper cars on ice 🛷
Question 2: does Ketchikan have ramps and other handicap access, especially to the shops, restaurants and attractions? Thank you for the wheelchair plug 👩🏼‍🦼
Ward Lake is absolutely gorgeous, so peaceful... as are Alaskan beaches. I'm more of a lake person, but Alaskan beaches definitely have my attention and desire to visit and explore. That swing looks like so much fun ⛱️
I love all the beautiful totems. I enjoy hearing and learning about the history and the stories they tell. I'm happy they are able to restore them... a piece of history that should never be lost 🗿
Cool airport... it'd definitely grab my Mark's attention... the man has wings 🛩️
Love the tees. The zombie and bigfoot are my favorites... and the bear 🐻
It's so cool that you got to watch Orcas from your balcony. Awesome 🐬
Goodbye Ketchikan. Until next time 😊
    Yah's Blessings ❤️

    • @ThisAlaskaLife
      @ThisAlaskaLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That really steep road is only open during the summer, closed when too icy. There is a much more gradual way to get up there. Then they use scrapers and gravel.
The creek street seems accessible to wheelchairs. Lots of ramps. Hope that helps

We've cruised to Alaska many times. First time was on Sapphire Princess in a Mini-suite. We hardly used our balcony. So, on all of our other cruises to Alaska we take advantage of the cheaper oceanview cabins. Afterall, Alaska is more about the excursions than anything else. We much prefer the view of the glaciers from the larger open public decks. We've done a total of 6 weeks cruising Alaska. It's our favorite destination.

THANK YOU SO MUCH .. Im doing my first alaska cruise in Sept 24, and I so appreciated your Kerhichan video. I wont hire a car, as from Australia, and we drive on other side of the road, .....but your tour gave me so much to think about ... definitely going to the "real" shops as dont want to get souveniers from China... I am so excited to see ALASKA .... what ruminated with me was the similarities I've seen at Fiji, Van Uato , NZ Maori culture, and Hawaii the Totems , the visual artifacts, its incredible the smilarities ... dont have enough information to relate these cultures, but to me it was amazing ... hope there is a documentary series to link these culturies ... as they are so intertwined

My jaw dropped when you showed your Mustang rental. A 2005/2006 Mustang. Lol. I guess that’s what a small local rental has.

Totem Bight and the totems at Saxman were both CCC projects too! My friend Emily Moore wrote a book about the project called "Proud Raven, Panting Wolf: Carving Alaska’s New Deal Totem Parks." It's a really interesting story. Totem Bight was designed by Native and non-Native folks and the poles were laid out in the style of an English garden, whereas Saxman's design was in a French style, hence the symmetry.

I spent time growing up in Petersburg. Never had long enough lay overs in wrangall or Ketchikan to stop in. Would love to make Ketchikan a trip.

When I drove to Alaska from Wyoming in 2010, I took the Ferry from Haines to Bellingham, Washington. They said the trip would take 3 days, 11 hours and no minutes. What surprised me though, was when we stopped in Port during the day we could get off and do some roaming. Unfortunately, the ferries don't get the primo parking like the cruise ships so they dock quite a ways out of town. There were busses there that would take us to town and get us back to the ferry in time for it to leave for a nominal fee. We only had the opportunity to see Sitka {first time I was there} and Ketchikan [second time I was there]. They stopped all through the day and night to let people on and off. The ferry I was on was the Columbia, the largest in the fleet.
