  • Managing your Dynamics 365 Business Central/ NAV permissions is crucial for your system's well-being. Knowing who in your organization should be allowed what permissions can be tricky, and setting them up properly can be even more complicated if you don’t know where to start. If you are concerned about your BC permissions or want to learn more about them, this webinar is for you.
In this webinar, we will discuss the following:
When should all users be assigned SUPER user permissions
Best Practices for effectively managing users
The different permission components and what they do
How a custom profile configuration can be used to limit user activity and add a layer of security
How to track user activities using the changelog

First of all, thank you for the interesting webinar. But after the release of Wave 2 of BC and the new functionalities like "exclude" and nesting of permission sets, I wonder if there aren't better ways to set-up permissions. Did you take the latest changes in account for this webinar?

This is a great question. This webinar was for both Business Central and NAV users. Many users have not moved to the Business Central platform and this concept is intended to give a wide variety of users a basic method to assist them in moving away from all users being “Super” users. For that reason, many of the new functionalities in Business Central were not showcased as part of this webinar.
I appreciate your feedback. Those new features would make a great topic for a future webinar.

Hi Mohamed, thanks for your question, let me check with Barbara and get back to you.

Here is Barbara's response "Great question! The permission side of Business Central/NAV does not limit access based on data within a table (with the exception of Companies), so from this area, it is not possible to limit locations. For warehouse locations, the warehouse employees page is where you would set location access for a specific warehouse user. I hope this information is helpful."
