  • This one took a lot of slow careful delicate work. I actually enjoy things like this - no slip ups allowed. Not quite at the level of replicating a Harry Joyce loom (done that, got the grey hairs to prove it), there is always room for art on jobs like this.

    Love the jazz flute. Excellent thorough dissection as usual!

    I'm okay with most of this as long as the flautists are all wearing Bérets.

    Well played.

    Great-looking work! I wonder if a Top Hat amp would be overkill for live musicians playing hip hop / club styles - I’m thinking of course of music like The Beastie Boys’ Ill Communication, where Sure Shot has that jazz flute loop, and then they transition to punk, and back again - all the way to a song called Flute Loop!

      I think it would be great so long as no one Sabotaged it.

    Ha, I love getting a great unexpectedly long conversation, can really make one's day. Jazz flute is an under represented category these days, maybe Ron Burgundy will inspire a new generation.

    Years ago I was considering the Club Royale and called Top Hat on a whim. To my surprise Brian himself picked up the phone. We had a 1 1/2 hour conversation about the amp, mainly about how the UK made Celestions,(this was when there were alot of Chinese made one’s around), sounded like a blanket had been lifted from them compared to the Chinese ones. Pleasant conversation and very nice man.

    I spoke with Brian and his wife several times years ago. They are some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to interact my with. IMO, his amps are some of the best in quality and sound. The Emplexador was my favorite.

    I had an opportunity a few years ago to pick one of these up for a price that would seem like a steal these days. Still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger. Not much for the jazz flute myself, but to each their own.

    Will there be any Jazz Flute played through this and the Carr in the next one then? That would be amazing! Great work as usual Lyle. With such a tidy job, I would personally want the chassis fixed, but I could see an owner wanting to try and repair the bulge on the chassis themselves too.

    Nutsert that choke in. Nutserts work really great in blind holes too. Do not buy Harbor Freight nutsert knockoffs. A pair of Wiss or if you get lucky at a swap meet or garage sale and you find a pair of Bluebird sheet metal sheers and you can trim off one side off large fender washers for reinforcing the mounting feet on that choke coil wrap. Fender washers come in small OD, medium OD, large OD, very large OD sizes and insanely extra large OD sizes. I have seen 3/16" ID x 3" OD fender washers. That was a case of "specify exactly what you want".

    • @PsionicAudio
      @PsionicAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Besides the large number of loose nutserts I find in amps, that would protrude into the chassis too much in this case. Same for PEM nuts.
