SO COOL to have someone that has read the background comics and can use that as context... I love when people deep-dive into the lore. I've never read any of ME's novels or comics myself, but since completing the trilogy I have spent hours trawling through the wiki, which also summarises them on the relevant pages. I'm not particularly into sci-fi, but I'm a sucker for intricate universes. It makes me really want to see you play Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (and this is coming from someone who isn't into vampires at all as a genre either). It definitely has it's quirks (you have to play with a patch installed), but it's SUCH a cult classic for good reason, an excellent RPG (each clan has different powers, and there are two clans that are recommended you DON'T play first time round) and the wider world, if anything, is even deeper than the ME universe. As an FYI, it's one you also have to be careful with spoilers when Googling!
I haven't got a chance to read all the books sadly but the ones that I did read was awesome I'm glad I did as its made the experience in the games a lot better. VTM Bloodlines has been a game I've wanted to check out for a long time I may put it on the channel in the future hopefully. I got such a back log of games I need to play lol it just keeps getting longer.

1:17:41 I read a scientific paper recently about a trial in which biologists oxygenated the neurons in a dead pig brain, and they were able to restore the brain cells from a state of death. The dead pigs had some biological functionality restored because of this, they made groaning sounds and could breathe, so that trial suggests we could possibly use that technology to bring somebody back from death eventually. Unfortunately the media reported it as “Scientists are creating zombie pigs!” so the general populous focused on that misinterpretation and still seems to have no idea that reversing cell death may actually be in our grasp within a few decades. It’s pretty cool stuff, kinda crazy to see the kind of technology from sci-fi a decade ago start to become part of our current reality! Loving the playthrough! Excited to binge watch it over the next few days

Here we go, ME2, I have quite a few problems with overall writing but man, the characters are phenomenal and boy, the set pieces! Very excited to watch this series! Oh and the lvl 57 was because you picked the "new" 30 lvl up system instead the old ME1 60 :)
Enjoy Mass Effect 2 it was such a good game and still has the best ending in gaming history I feel. And that makes sense about the level. Two systems now with the old and new.
ME2 is arguably the best game Bioware ever made. BUT it's such a terrible middle part of a trilogy. I'm interested in hearing what's your problems with the writing. Anyway, still excited to watch the game being played.

With that said, you already touched the main problem, it's not a great middle part of a galactic scale invasion trilogy. Oh and I still thoroughly enjoyed watching this playthrough!

The Normandy was such a HUGE part of the first game, and then to just see her blow up right at the start hit me hard in the guts. It was the familiarity and love for the characters and the ship after spending all that time with them in the first game, juxtaposed with that chaos and unexpected OH SNAP feeling that I've never quite experienced again. It really had me feeling just like you. "Wait. Is this actually happening?! Or is Shepard dreaming this? WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!" So crazy! :D The only thing I can think of that compares at all was in DA2, watching the Hawke family flee a destroyed and burning Lothering. But that had NOTHING on this. Insanely good storytelling! Looking forward to your next installment. Have a great and safe new year!
It takes alot of guts for a game to do this kind of writing to kill off the main character just like that. And the way this was going not knowing what happened to Shepard did he/she survive. But then we come back as who knows what fully lol 🤣 just crazy good writing. And the Normandy going down like that was so terrible to watch the relationships we made during the first game on Normandy and the little missions with the Normandy and joker doing his thing.. gosh I'm gonna miss the Normandy so much. The game is going to feel so weird without it. It's like we are missing our home. And DA2 is actually my favorite dragon age game. The writing in that one is really great as well it hit me in the feels a few times like this game has so far. Have a great and safe new year as well.
I've heard a lot of claims over the years Adept on Insanity is the most difficult class to play for the hardest difficulty and am curious to see if that is actually true. I've also never seen that comic strip it, Mark Meer sounded like he had a good time voicing it. For some reason it makes me want to hear him as the protagonist or narrator for a pulpy hard boiled noir detective book/ game, bonus points if he has an appropriately edgy name like Max Payne. 1:18:06 Miranda makes her entrance! And what an entrance it is! One of my favorite characters of the trilogy and my personal favorite romance choice.
I played all classes on Insanity and Adept is definitely the most difficult. Vanguard is glass cannon, but Adept doesn't even have the damage. Most of the time your only option is to use singularity to lock enemies down and start shooting. Engineer is surprisingly the easiest and most fun.

What a start my friend, I was expecting that after the events of the first game Atticus would have a time to relax and enjoy a hero's life for a while. Shady characters to say the least lol 🤣 we get killed get revived and now we are fighting mechs and a lady named Miranda is yelling at us and this Jacob guy hitting things with the good stuff lol 🤣 I love how this is going.
so excited lets goooo!!! as much as you enjoyed 1st game you will enjoy this one even more. it blew me away. some amazing new companions and stories are so rich!! 1st was awesome but I felt there's a lot of repetitive fetch stuff that could get boring. none of this in this game. so full of content it feels every moment is filled with something different! and stories involving everyone around you are so involved and emotional. I feel this game has everything the first one had only better! :) What a way to open. The scene of Normandy ship with roof blown to space was awesome, and Shep floating off into space was so eerie 👀 Normandy exploding and Atticus basically being regenerated for 2 years and ending up with Cerberus... I mean damn, of all the scenarios I imagined this game will start that was not one! Bioware really knows how to keep you on the edge of the seat. and wow so cool to hear about books and comics and how some stuff expand and tie in. I have to read those!
Hi welcome to mass effect 2 boom Shepard is spaced game over thanks for playing!! Absolutely nuts what happened already lol. Takes a lot of guts for a game to do that to the main character and this isn't even the end its the very start... wow. Now we get found by this Cerberus and they rebuild us whos to know if we aren't part machine at this point we must be because I cant imagine us being fully normal anymore after all that. I cant wait to see where all this goes its so mysterious so far I like it a lot they really seemed to upgrade this game from the first its a huge difference so far. I also loved ME1 but as a content creator is was kind of a nightmare. Reason being was going to each planet would take so much time that i had to cut out because of explore with the mako. Basically a hour long ep would take me 2 or so hours to record because of all the mako stuff I had to cut out. But I loved it a lot just was a bit harsh due to the fact I needed to cut so much stuff as I don't like to cut unless its ultimate side things. Here's to hoping ME2 has a bit more meaningful side thing I think the first only had a few but to be honest it might be meaningful now I just don't know what imports actually matter just yet. Ive only read the things that lead us to this point but they are so good its def worth a read for sure.

@Bowskii What is the difference between N7 Special forces (Shepard) and Black Ops (Jack Harper/Illusive Man) in real life I assume its basically a difference in specialization.
I was pushed your ME3 vids in my suggested and thought you were pretty chill. I started watching ME1 but you said you had played it before and im only interested in blind playthroughs. However since you didnt play 2 and 3 I might stick around. I may even go back and hurry through ME1. Especially since you killed Ashley, based.
that's totally up to you my ME1 playthrough is basically blind as I didn't finish the game 10 plus years ago I only remember Eden Prime so all the reactions I have along the way are first time but I just didn't choose to label it blind since I at least played through Eden Prime. So lots of theories and speculation and learning of everything in that LP. 10 plus years is a very long time ago so even Eden Prime was a mystery. So if your looking for a true blind stance on it skim through EP 1 and watch from there.
I think you would need to romance her in the first game and import the save of the romance into ME2. Since I romanced her in ME1 I imagine that has to be why she was here and not Kaiden at the time.
Happy new year man! You're the first person I've seen other than myself to actually put your squad's powers in the quick bar. Super useful feature. Don't forget to play the Arrival DLC after finishing the base game since it takes place after. Unfortunately you'll be forced into watching the first cut scene no matter what unless you mod the game and what not. The other DLCs can be played during the game whenever you want but some will lock you out of some side quests if you start them too early. Just some minor inconveniences in an otherwise amazing game.

It's going to come so much in handy we may not even need to pause the game that much now which is gonna make combat so fast and awesome. That's kind of tricky when it comes to dlc stuff then. I'll be careful with it all I don't wanna mess things up with the story you know how I get when it comes to dlc stuff. I wanna hear it all when I get a chance to do it but to hear some now and other stuff later is always kinda rough. I'm super excited about this though I can't wait to keep bringing more. This is going to be an awesome ride. Hopefully we don't die again lol 🤣 still can't believe we got spaced just like that wow..
There is two leveling up systems in the Remaster, in the first game you reached level 29 but in comparison to the other way leveling up works it equals out to level 57. One has more levels but less XP to level up, the other has fewer levels but more XP to level up.
Nice there we go! Good stuff because I was confused as all hell about that. Now that you brought this up I do remember reading it when I changed the difficulty setting or other setting in EP 1 of the ME1 LP. Since we did everything possible in that game it makes me think its nearly impossible to max out our character unless its max is 29 with the legendary settings.. I'm not sure.
So basic advice that may come in useful, when you need to buy scanning probes they come in packs of 5, so make sure you need all 5 when you buy them as there is no change in the cost if you just need 1 to get back to max or 5. Secondly when it comes to probing planets for minerals it's best to only spend probes on planets that start off as rich level for resources. Finally there are a number of missions that once you pick them they will force the storyline to advance, if you want them listed I'd recommend asking for a basic head's up for which one's they are. Other than that I hope you enjoy ME2
I'll keep that in mind when it all come at us. spoiler free advice is ok I know things can get overwhelming in blind new LPs so far it's seems really straight forward. I'll really take my time in this try to play it as fully as I can and of course saving credits and stuff will always come in handy I'm sure. We ended me1 with 999999999 and the 9s keep going of credits lol 🤣
@@Bowskii Yeah, in ME2 credit's are going to be much harder to balance if you go mad on the buying of scanning probes and ship fuel, and as for the most spoiler free advice re forced advancing of the story, the first will pop up once you've gotten your scientist, the other big one for the end of the main storyline is going into the squid as after this one you've got at most 2 missions before the number of people you'll save starts to drop which has effects in ME3

My absolute favorite ME reactions to watch is the ME2 opening. I love watching the jaws drop. And the 57 rank is the equivalent of 29. Remember at the beginning when you chose what level system to use? The original 60 levels or the legendary 30 levels? That's what that is.
LOL this intro though... I don't think anyone could predict Shepard dying in the intro... how crazy. And that makes sense about the level though oddly enough I think I would have preferred the old way more levels makes us be able to nerd out on builds more. I know its essentially the same but I like higher levels.
@@Bowskii Both the original ME2 and ME3 used the newer 30 level system. They never used the original from ME1. So you're not missing out on it; the original 60 level system never existed past ME1. It showing 57 is a remnant from the original ME2 save import system, as it calculated your XP based on the original system when it imported your character. So, I am always curious, how do you like the introduction of a traditional ammo system? From a gameplay perspective, the devs decided to implement it because during play testing, weapons using the old cool down system were just too overpowered. You may have noticed that in ME1, as you get into the late stages of the game, and you pick up high end weapons like the Spectre set, and you put the right mods in, they become just way to overpowered. It made the game too unbalanced. From a LORE perspective, it was explained that the militaris of the galaxy discovered that when fighting Geth, waiting for cool downs was detrimental. The Geth weapons didn't have that weakness. They could just keep firing. SO rather than wait for weapons to cool down in the heat of a fight, they can just eject the heat saturated thermal clip and slap in a new one. That became the standard of ALL small arms in the galaxy.
I actually really like the ammo system I know it might sound weird but I find it a bit more challenging to have to get more ammo. Like in a long fight it would make it more strategic to conserve some ammo. So far in this game I really never ran out too much but I did like it. I also loved the cool down weapons as well it was pretty unique.
haha everyone imports the code into second game only to tweak eyebrows. I don't know w hat it is but everything imports good except eyebrow position and colors :)
lol his eye brows were so low omg like he was brooding all the time I'm glad they have this code generator in these games as its so much easier for us to import. So happy we were able to fix that lol
As a note re paragon and renegade choices in convo's, top right on the wheel will normally give paragon point's, bottom right renegade and the middle right is the nutral choice

Mass Effect 2 is in a 3 way tie with Fallout: New Vegas and The Witcher 3. The Suicide Mission is second only to the Battle of Kaer Morhen on my favorite game moments of all time.
I'm really looking forward to this one! Its been on my list to play for so many years I've heard so much about the trilogy being the best games ever made ect. I'm just glad I cant finally play it. Mass Effect 1 was a great introduction and Mass Effect 2 started off with a massive blast.. wow.
Probably know by now, but yes Miranda is Yvonne Strahovsky. I only knew her from the criminally underrated show 'Chuck.'

For some reason it makes me want to hear him as the protagonist or narrator for a pulpy hard boiled noir detective book/ game, bonus points if he has an appropriately edgy name like Max Payne.

I played all classes on Insanity and Adept is definitely the most difficult. Vanguard is glass cannon, but Adept doesn't even have the damage. Most of the time your only option is to use singularity to lock enemies down and start shooting. Engineer is surprisingly the easiest and most fun.

Here we go!! Mass Effect 2 I'm super excited for this. ME1 was so good it truly was a great introduction to it all but now I feel like we are going to be in something really special. Shepard got spaced holy hell like.. wow this games gonna be epic.
I'm glad I stuck with it too it would be kind of weird to go away from the adept.
Mass Effect 2 has THE BEST start screen out of any game ever. Just seeing it and hearing the music gets me emotional.

What a start my friend, I was expecting that after the events of the first game Atticus would have a time to relax and enjoy a hero's life for a while. I really didn't expect this beginning full of action and shady characters.

so excited lets goooo!!! as much as you enjoyed 1st game you will enjoy this one even more. it blew me away. some amazing new companions and stories are so rich!! 1st was awesome but I felt there's a lot of repetitive fetch stuff that could get boring. none of this in this game. so full of content it feels every moment is filled with something different! and stories involving everyone around you are so involved and emotional. I feel this game has everything the first one had only better! :)
What a way to open. The scene of Normandy ship with roof blown to space was awesome, and Shep floating off into space was so eerie 👀 Normandy exploding and Atticus basically being regenerated for 2 years and ending up with Cerberus... I mean damn, of all the scenarios I imagined this game will start that was not one! Bioware really knows how to keep you on the edge of the seat. and wow so cool to hear about books and comics and how some stuff expand and tie in. I have to read those!
Hi welcome to mass effect 2 boom Shepard is spaced game over thanks for playing!! Absolutely nuts what happened already lol. Takes a lot of guts for a game to do that to the main character and this isn't even the end its the very start... wow.
Now we get found by this Cerberus and they rebuild us whos to know if we aren't part machine at this point we must be because I cant imagine us being fully normal anymore after all that. I cant wait to see where all this goes its so mysterious so far I like it a lot they really seemed to upgrade this game from the first its a huge difference so far.
I also loved ME1 but as a content creator is was kind of a nightmare. Reason being was going to each planet would take so much time that i had to cut out because of explore with the mako. Basically a hour long ep would take me 2 or so hours to record because of all the mako stuff I had to cut out. But I loved it a lot just was a bit harsh due to the fact I needed to cut so much stuff as I don't like to cut unless its ultimate side things. Here's to hoping ME2 has a bit more meaningful side thing I think the first only had a few but to be honest it might be meaningful now I just don't know what imports actually matter just yet.
Ive only read the things that lead us to this point but they are so good its def worth a read for sure.

@Bowskii What is the difference between N7 Special forces (Shepard) and Black Ops (Jack Harper/Illusive Man) in real life I assume its basically a difference in specialization.
I would say N7 would be special forces/navy seal and Black ops Jack Harper would be Army Ranger

I was pushed your ME3 vids in my suggested and thought you were pretty chill. I started watching ME1 but you said you had played it before and im only interested in blind playthroughs. However since you didnt play 2 and 3 I might stick around. I may even go back and hurry through ME1.

that's totally up to you my ME1 playthrough is basically blind as I didn't finish the game 10 plus years ago I only remember Eden Prime so all the reactions I have along the way are first time but I just didn't choose to label it blind since I at least played through Eden Prime. So lots of theories and speculation and learning of everything in that LP. 10 plus years is a very long time ago so even Eden Prime was a mystery. So if your looking for a true blind stance on it skim through EP 1 and watch from there.
I´ve newer saw Liara or anyone else besides Kaidan or Ashley in the Opening intresting... Does anyone know the dependancy on that ?
I think you would need to romance her in the first game and import the save of the romance into ME2. Since I romanced her in ME1 I imagine that has to be why she was here and not Kaiden at the time.
Happy new year man! You're the first person I've seen other than myself to actually put your squad's powers in the quick bar. Super useful feature. Don't forget to play the Arrival DLC after finishing the base game since it takes place after. Unfortunately you'll be forced into watching the first cut scene no matter what unless you mod the game and what not. The other DLCs can be played during the game whenever you want but some will lock you out of some side quests if you start them too early. Just some minor inconveniences in an otherwise amazing game.

It's going to come so much in handy we may not even need to pause the game that much now which is gonna make combat so fast and awesome.
That's kind of tricky when it comes to dlc stuff then. I'll be careful with it all I don't wanna mess things up with the story you know how I get when it comes to dlc stuff. I wanna hear it all when I get a chance to do it but to hear some now and other stuff later is always kinda rough.
I'm super excited about this though I can't wait to keep bringing more. This is going to be an awesome ride. Hopefully we don't die again lol 🤣 still can't believe we got spaced just like that wow..
There is two leveling up systems in the Remaster, in the first game you reached level 29 but in comparison to the other way leveling up works it equals out to level 57. One has more levels but less XP to level up, the other has fewer levels but more XP to level up.
Nice there we go! Good stuff because I was confused as all hell about that. Now that you brought this up I do remember reading it when I changed the difficulty setting or other setting in EP 1 of the ME1 LP. Since we did everything possible in that game it makes me think its nearly impossible to max out our character unless its max is 29 with the legendary settings.. I'm not sure.

So basic advice that may come in useful, when you need to buy scanning probes they come in packs of 5, so make sure you need all 5 when you buy them as there is no change in the cost if you just need 1 to get back to max or 5. Secondly when it comes to probing planets for minerals it's best to only spend probes on planets that start off as rich level for resources. Finally there are a number of missions that once you pick them they will force the storyline to advance, if you want them listed I'd recommend asking for a basic head's up for which one's they are. Other than that I hope you enjoy ME2
I'll keep that in mind when it all come at us. spoiler free advice is ok I know things can get overwhelming in blind new LPs so far it's seems really straight forward. I'll really take my time in this try to play it as fully as I can and of course saving credits and stuff will always come in handy I'm sure. We ended me1 with 999999999 and the 9s keep going of credits lol 🤣
@@Bowskii Yeah, in ME2 credit's are going to be much harder to balance if you go mad on the buying of scanning probes and ship fuel, and as for the most spoiler free advice re forced advancing of the story, the first will pop up once you've gotten your scientist, the other big one for the end of the main storyline is going into the squid as after this one you've got at most 2 missions before the number of people you'll save starts to drop which has effects in ME3

My absolute favorite ME reactions to watch is the ME2 opening. I love watching the jaws drop.
And the 57 rank is the equivalent of 29. Remember at the beginning when you chose what level system to use? The original 60 levels or the legendary 30 levels?

And that makes sense about the level though oddly enough I think I would have preferred the old way more levels makes us be able to nerd out on builds more. I know its essentially the same but I like higher levels.
@@Bowskii Both the original ME2 and ME3 used the newer 30 level system. They never used the original from ME1. So you're not missing out on it; the original 60 level system never existed past ME1.
It showing 57 is a remnant from the original ME2 save import system, as it calculated your XP based on the original system when it imported your character.
So, I am always curious, how do you like the introduction of a traditional ammo system?
From a gameplay perspective, the devs decided to implement it because during play testing, weapons using the old cool down system were just too overpowered. You may have noticed that in ME1, as you get into the late stages of the game, and you pick up high end weapons like the Spectre set, and you put the right mods in, they become just way to overpowered. It made the game too unbalanced.
From a LORE perspective, it was explained that the militaris of the galaxy discovered that when fighting Geth, waiting for cool downs was detrimental. The Geth weapons didn't have that weakness. They could just keep firing. SO rather than wait for weapons to cool down in the heat of a fight, they can just eject the heat saturated thermal clip and slap in a new one. That became the standard of ALL small arms in the galaxy.
I actually really like the ammo system I know it might sound weird but I find it a bit more challenging to have to get more ammo. Like in a long fight it would make it more strategic to conserve some ammo. So far in this game I really never ran out too much but I did like it. I also loved the cool down weapons as well it was pretty unique.

lol his eye brows were so low omg like he was brooding all the time I'm glad they have this code generator in these games as its so much easier for us to import. So happy we were able to fix that lol
As a note re paragon and renegade choices in convo's, top right on the wheel will normally give paragon point's, bottom right renegade and the middle right is the nutral choice
Nice! I was feeling it was the same as the first game in a sense. Was so odd to see only a middle and bottom option. So basically we went pretty neutral this ep.
Still not sure how I feel about the killing of Shep at the start of ME2. It's such a weird choice. The rest of the game is a blast though.
My guess is it was the only way for them to have Shep work with Cerberus.
Mass Effect 2 is in a 3 way tie with Fallout: New Vegas and The Witcher 3.
The Suicide Mission is second only to the Battle of Kaer Morhen on my favorite game moments of all time.
I'm really looking forward to this one! Its been on my list to play for so many years I've heard so much about the trilogy being the best games ever made ect. I'm just glad I cant finally play it. Mass Effect 1 was a great introduction and Mass Effect 2 started off with a massive blast.. wow.
