    Who all enjoys this series? Do you want more of these more often?

    • @ysammo214

      I for sure do. Its useful to see bad design and then seeing how it can be corrected. Makes it easier to develop an eye for good design principles and knowing how to fix them. Please continue this series

    Enjoy these videos. Actually watched twice - the second time partly at .25 playback speed to see a couple of options you selected in Figma. This actually provided some comedy value as your voice sounds like you’ve been smoking something. 🤣

    2nd one definitely looked better after redesign, but there's something about the original's retro vibe that I wish would have stayed

    Design 1 still lacks icon consistency. Mix of line and solid icons?

  • @niels308
    @niels308 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hey Gary,
    2 quick questions.
    1. In the first design you present the icon of "downloads" before the label, where in the buttons, you present them after the labels. There are studies that show that an icon before a label improves scannabillity. Also, now it seems a bit inconsistent. What is your take on this?
    2. I hear you say this a lot in your friday design reviews, but wouldn't it be wise to add labels to the input fields in your second design? Yes, it could be an animation, but it's not shown in the video. I think an example of "good UX" should present that!
    Just my two cents! Great video altogether.

    • @DesignCourse
      @DesignCourse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ty for the comments.
      #1 - If you look at 2:18 in the final design presentation, you'll see I decided to remove the icon before "Downloads". I'd have to see those studies, but I personally feel in the context of a button that has type and an icon, the icon right-aligned would make it easier to read the text, as the text is the first thing a user might read. I could be wrong though, and I'll look into it!
      #2 - I do mention in the video that these are meant to be floating labels, and not placeholder values. The insinuation here is that they will always remain present, and not vanish as with a placeholder value -- which is when the UX becomes bad. I do knock these out quickly, so I don't typically add prototyping.

      Tbh, there's only 3 input field and it's a landing page so i think aesthetic here is more important than the UX ( sorry for the bad eng )

    Hey Gary, nice video !
    Quick note in term of UX isn't your video thumbnail wrong ? the bad UI with red glow should have a thumb DOWN, and your good UI with green glow should have a thumb UP !
