God I absolutely loved this game back in 2017. Played it nonstop. My favorite thing was probably the fortress sieges. I just dumped about 75 hours into this game, and it is great. The leveling experience/story are all good, but the end game is surprisingly deep as long as you don't mind doing fortress defending or online sieges. Certain weapons and armors give bonuses that can completely change the style of your play. You can make yourself an OP wraith, a necromancer, an elemental master, a stealth shadow, etc. Great variety of orc captains as well that force you to adapt in each encounter.

I'd love if they did a prequel where you play as an orc and you recruit other orcs to your side. It all culminates with you being in the group that attacked the black gate and killed talion's family. You could appoint second in commands in your orc clan, when you die you can either begin again as a lowly grunt and remake a whole orc, or take over as your second in command. How is that going to work though? Diana is basically a demi-god and half of the fun with SoM/SoW is that when you die you can get vengeance on your nemesis.
I played since launch, they rebalanced alot after they pulled the loot boxes, which I always felt were pointless. I liked training orders way more than orcs because the whole appeal is the relationship you develop with the orcs so just buying and dropping in an orc was a stupid idea. Only game I've ever got all achievements
Yea on another note I never got how the game was getting ratings docked because of the lootboxes like you never were in a position where you needed an orc immediately or you were fked. It was dumb for being there bc of what you said but it wasn't invasive
Had a great time playing this. Preparing for a seige by recruiting orcs, betraying warchiefs and setting up spies is so satisfying. When you have a full army with seige upgrades and breeze through a fortress it makes you feel so mighty. It's the most immersive part of the game. The story missions suck you out of it a bit and go on for way too long. But fun game that needs a sequel. Didn't experience the game until after the microtransactions were removed so can't say much, but I definitely feel it would've spoiled it somewhat if you can cheat through the build-up to a seige.
I never once bought anything from those micro transactions. You could play the whole game without buying a single item. But yes, this game was freaking awesome.
I LOVE this game, and was planning a replay as soon as I finish God of War (so tomorrow at the latest!). I’ve played through twice before, and it’s incredibly fun. Riding a dragon to kill targets NEVER got old. Too bad every TH-camr jumped on the bandwagon of shitting all over this excellent game. The devs deserved better
Yes it is! I posted in an earlier video but the micro transaction “controversy” over this game was overblown. Shadow of War has incredible gameplay. Story not great, but I’d definetly recommend it still.
I really loved SoM and was so excited when this came out. I played a solid 90 hours but never actually finished SoW because I got so overwhelmed by all the activities that I ended up dropping it. It almost felt like one of those recent years Assassin's Creed, which really is a shame for such a nice gameplay imo.
The first game blew me away as one of my first ps4 games. Just picked it up on PC to complete the collection (again) and run through them both (again). Brutally ripping my way through Mordor never gets old. Never. XD
Been loving this game for years. Got it after the removal of Mirco-Transactions so I never had a downside associated with it. Best part is the recent mods released for it over on NexusMods, so now I can play the game without level restrictions of skills and stuff, which makes you feel even more godly overpowered. Such a great game.
I love this game, ESPECIALLY on the new gravewalker difficulty. it makes the orcs have the same health that they have in normal mode, but they do as much damage and have the same advanced ai as their brutal mode. blast to play and really makes this game difficult but rewarding in the best way possible. wholly agree that this game is worth peoples time.
I haven’t played this game yet.. but I played Shadow of Mordor a lot. There’s no other game I can think of that makes you feel like such a combat bad ass than this.
It mainly effected the end game alongside the extended trial to get the ending which was a fairly blatant attempt to get people to shell out to cut down the grind.
One time I fought this war chief and won the fortress, but then he show up in another location out of the blue and said: YOU!!, YOU PENETRATE MY FACE -Follow my hysterical loud scream

My boyfriend absolutely loves this game. Whenever he comes over he always turns this on first. Like I have 20+ games and he chooses this specific one every time lol. Can't blame him it's a banger fr
I did love this game. Played it through several times. I even got to the final ending on my own. The grinding got a bit old after a while, but I gotta say, the game play cycle kept me going. No complaints. Though I must say, as much as I enjoy games like this, there's something about the action-adventure game that's almost, but not quite, an RPG, that leaves me wanting more. I guess the Witcher 3 has spoiled me for other games, but when I play Shadow of War, or Arkham Knight, I find myself wishing that the world-building was a little deeper, a little more immersive. The environments were not quite believable worlds, more well-dressed playgrounds. I wanted to know more about Minas Ithil. Where were its citizens? What was it like to see one's city fall like that? It was a fun game arena, but as a setting, I wanted more character. I wanted to live in it, not just fight in it. The characters themselves were astonishingly rich with potential, but I wanted to dive a little deeper, get more than just the few dimensions we have time for between game play cycles. The love of Tolkien is embedded deep in this game, but I really appreciated the audacity to make clever changes. I loved how they retconned Shelob, loved the Entwife, loved the concept behind Celebrimbor's spirit connection to Talion, how it made Talion half-man, half-spirit, able to shift from material to immaterial so fluidly. That was some world-building. It added so much weight to the game play, but I'd have loved for the game to do more with it on the story end. I loved learning the backstories of the Nazgul. The idea that King Helm of Rohan had become one may have pissed off Tolkien purists, but to my mind, it was a brilliant stroke. Canon matters, but it shouldn't get in the way of a good story. Obviously, the game's format serves its genre. Shadow of War isn't an RPG, it's an action game. So wishing it was more like The Witcher 3, to some extent, is like wishing an apple was an orange. It's really a matter of taste. Some players love to immerse themselves in a rich fantasy world, while others prefer satisfying game play loops set in beautiful playgrounds. I admit the game play in Witcher 3 gets stale. I guess I want it all, which I admit is a little greedy.
Shadow of war is truly the goat, you know homie is coming off of shadow of Mordor when he has the reaction "oh crap a captain" and is checking their weaknesses, eventually he'll figure out their moves and just quit checking, and absolutely destroy every captain he sees, multiple captains at a time, bro just needa learn how OP health stealing is on your sword and dagger, very helpful in the beginning, straight up godlike in the end
I have been playing this game nonstop until I suddenly got bored of it, now it’s just left there in the game store because I bought it digitally, now I play Monster Hunter and ARK, don’t feel like playing a game like Shadow of War, doesn’t feel the same.

@@onlypacks7033 i bet you know by now, but this is the second one. You can probably get away with only playing Shadow of War but id definitely recommend playing both. Theyre spectacular!
The panic of running out of elf shot in the middle of fighting 2 captains and 15 orcs🤣🤣🤣 I'm replaying this for the 4th time since it came out I need a ps5 remaster
i would love a sequel set after the events of the lotr as Nazgul talion, I mean everyone who's played the middle earth games knows that the lore is not that faithful to the books, so I mean embrace that, you have a whole new world in your hands that you can explore and conquer, maybe Nazgul talion tries to retake Mordor and then moves to minas morgul and minas tirith etc. you get what I mean
As great as a sequel could’ve been, it wouldn’t have been with Talion given the ending. The DLCs wrapped everything up relatively well but they could probably do something with the elf.
I LOVE Shadows of War, imo better than Shadows of Mordor just for the quality of life improvements and how expansive it is on everything. Plus they changed it so the post ending stuff to get the true ending isn't AS much of a grind.
This game is such a perfect example of how much microtransaction crap can ruin a great game. This game became fantastic the moment they incorporated all of that stuff into the game instead of forcing you to pay left right and centre and they actually made more money from it when they did that. A lot of companies should learn from that.
This game soured the Assassin's Creed games for me for a long time. Because of the variety of combat, acrobatics and magic you can do to dispatch enemies in this game. The heavy use of environment to influence how you handle an area. The traversal over land and climbing is superhuman and fast. It makes moving around in AC feel like Busch League. It really does. I mean Talion can do things the Arkham Batman WISH he could do. And Batman can do tons of things. I love those games as well. But Talion is in a league of his own. The best combat of any Action RPG ever made. It beats out everything to me except maybe God of War. But even Kratos needed Dogs and Portals to get around. Talion is basically the Flash of climbing and moving and running. This is why it took me years and years to beat final play and then complete The Witcher 3. Because Shadow of Mordor came out before it and the combat system is 4 or 5 levels above it.
Man, this was like the second real game I played when I got my Xbox. Love SoW to death, and I still have yet to find a game with a core gameplay loop that’s as satisfying. Put in around 60ish hours to complete the game and Eltarial dlc. How I wish it could get a third game.
Yeah I beat the game and both DLC a few months ago because I was recovering from COVID and running out of viable entertainment. It's definitely better than my first impression, but honestly the scars left by the microtransaction system are pretty nasty. Especially the feature where you can give an orc a trait, because it takes forever to get the currency and loot boxes for that, and you could easily just learn to manipulate the RNG and orc behaviors if you want a powerful orc. Like seriously, the nemesis system is so fun in this game, but they said "nah don't interact with that bullshit, just buy power." Not like it isn't an optional feature, just seems like a bad design decision.
The weird thing with Shadow of War is it's microtransactions didn't really affect the game whatsoever in any negative way. To this day I'm still unsure as to why people were against the box system they had in place.
I think it was because you could buy lootboxes with gear and "minions" to progress faster, no? Also it could speed up your journey from a regular ending to "true" ending, that's why people were mad until it was nerfed. At least that's how I remember it. I enjoyed the game and I think I was playing after the lootbox nerf, but there's just no justification to have loot boxes or any other purchasable cosmetic/boosters/gear type of things in a single player game (hello Assassin's Creed). Like, you can just put those things behind some hard or challenging content or unlockables, but asking people to buy them with real money is just bad game design and it will always be annoying
A full priced game, with microtransactions.... cant imagine why people were angry 🤦🏻♂️ An artificially lengthe ed ending, with tedious gameplay, to incentivise loot box purchase.. manipulated drop rates.. not at all predatory, or anti consumer, right?

Great video! More shadow of war content please, easily some of my favorite commentary
This is a fun game I started playing it again.
I have 160 hrs across 2 accounts on this game without realizing it
i love this game, i hope they make a third
Is this one the first I just downloaded a random demo loved it and found this vid
@@onlypacks7033 i bet you know by now, but this is the second one. You can probably get away with only playing Shadow of War but id definitely recommend playing both. Theyre spectacular!
Still a bloody great game, even after so many years.
I still play it and make videos on it also love the one of kind nemesis system
The panic of running out of elf shot in the middle of fighting 2 captains and 15 orcs🤣🤣🤣 I'm replaying this for the 4th time since it came out I need a ps5 remaster
Sometimes when you’re walking around in the game. You can hear orcs talking about Gollum and how he’s too small eat and too weak to kill.
this thing runs 30 fps on the next gen consoles. I wish it would run in 60... its just such a good game...
i would love a sequel set after the events of the lotr as Nazgul talion, I mean everyone who's played the middle earth games knows that the lore is not that faithful to the books, so I mean embrace that, you have a whole new world in your hands that you can explore and conquer, maybe Nazgul talion tries to retake Mordor and then moves to minas morgul and minas tirith etc. you get what I mean
As great as a sequel could’ve been, it wouldn’t have been with Talion given the ending. The DLCs wrapped everything up relatively well but they could probably do something with the elf.
The desolation of Mordor dlc was awesome
@@YesNo-yl6ws it really was. I also liked the elf dlc and how it tied up Talion’s story.
@@spyguy888 Yep, also loved that the unique orcs in that DLC got to transfer over to the main game!
@@YesNo-yl6ws yeah that was really cool. Although I don’t think I’ve let them fight because I didn’t want them to die lol.
It kind of left on a cliffhanger too, with celebrimbor escaping from barad-dur
Would be cool if you continue this series
Man gets one of the rarest scars and treats it if it were something any normal orc grunt could get.
I spent a week playing getting rocked finished it just to realize I’ve been playing on brutal the whole time
Lol
I love shadow of war😊
Bro I’ve been playing this games since quarantine and still can’t enough greatest game of all time
One of the best games of all time
I LOVE Shadows of War, imo better than Shadows of Mordor just for the quality of life improvements and how expansive it is on everything. Plus they changed it so the post ending stuff to get the true ending isn't AS much of a grind.
It's the best. If you get yourself to play it. You probably won't ever stop.
Shaka and Talon at Darmok; Shaka when the walls fell.
This game is such a perfect example of how much microtransaction crap can ruin a great game. This game became fantastic the moment they incorporated all of that stuff into the game instead of forcing you to pay left right and centre and they actually made more money from it when they did that. A lot of companies should learn from that.
To be fair, even when it had micro transactions, they weren’t necessary in the slightest. It was a lame thing that was slapped in.
It's so fun watching a new/inexperienced player play since I've dropped 400 hours into it and learned everything
Man, this was like the second real game I played when I got my Xbox. Love SoW to death, and I still have yet to find a game with a core gameplay loop that’s as satisfying. Put in around 60ish hours to complete the game and Eltarial dlc. How I wish it could get a third game.
The from soft games have very satisfying combat as well
One of the best gamesbi ever played.
A full priced game, with microtransactions.... cant imagine why people were angry 🤦🏻♂️
An artificially lengthe ed ending, with tedious gameplay, to incentivise loot box purchase.. manipulated drop rates.. not at all predatory, or anti consumer, right?
@VinAr Run aww, widdle fella get himz feewingz hurt
I was just playing this last night! I forgot how much fun it is. Poke poke stabby stabby throw off cliff or set on fire.
