This is obviously meant to be. The video is posted on 19 FEB, my birthday, and I just bought a GoPro 3+ Silver and am leaving shortly for a road trip. I've been wanting to do time lapse so this tutorial is fantastic. Thank you Brendan!
Yeah man, the audio on ALL the GoPro versions are terrible. The promotional videos they make always use external audio, and I think that's very deceptive. A few years back I was using a slew of Hero2 HD cams to make videos for the magazine I shot for. All of that work was with very loud cars and the first time we shot track footage we had to scrap the audio and really turn down the wind noise. We were eventually fed up with this audio recording capabilities so we purchased a Zoom to link up audio to the videos. This worked so well it was crazy good. The only problem you run into is linking up the audio, which can be a royal pain for someone like me who is really just a photographer. I think for your "advendures" the GoPro will be brilliant. You've already put it to good use in the Disney video and I think one of you hiking to a landscape location would be really cool. A lot of people don't understand the work you have to put into hiking and trekking in order to get "the shot" you want. haha Cool video as always.
Kevin DiOssi So true on every single point. I get a lot of comments "like, get better audio, dude!" and I'm like: "Look, I'm hiking with 2 cameras, 2 tripods, 4 lenses, and my food, tent, etc., can I leave the audio equipment at home?" haha
That's true, Brendan. Some people just do the video but for photographers the GoPro is more of a fun addition to our adventures. You have to make a choice which is primary; photography or the GoPro.
Quick question: do you think the regular suction cup mount (maybe it's an older model??) would be good enough for car use? The one I have looks different than yours, no gopro logo, that's why I'm thinking it's an older model or maybe it's just not made by gopro. There's no button to press to increase the suction. I'm thinking I'll tether it to the car anyway just in case. Thoughts? Thanks so much
Amy Proctor Nothing in particular. I meld GoPro and regular footage together and it Premiere Elements gives you a lot more play than the GoPro Studio. BUT, if you're just doing timelapse, you can definitely do it on the GoPro Studio as well.
Hello Brendan, I enjoyed this video. I have been doing some time lapse myself. I hope you will check my videos out and feel free to critique them. Thanks and I look forward to seeing your time lapse vid as well.

Thanks for the video! Which photo camera with 4k video do you recommend? (not GoPro)

No idea unless I saw it. But, yeah, tether it just in case. If it sticks, it'll work.
When u turn on your gopro what's the version number?
Brendan is there a reason why you don't use the GoPro Studio for editing?
