Clever idea. Taping a small hand weight to an old racket frame also works!

This is certainly one of your finest instructional videos. I know you have hundreds of videos on TH-cam, they are all very good however this one is definitely in the top ten. Virtually every top player began playing tennis before they could read. Rosewall and Conners started at the age of two, Federer at the age of three, and on and on. One thing that Federer does in his warm-up is he will stand 20 to 25 feet behind the baseline and trade groundstrokes with his hitting partner who is also 25 feet behind his baseline. This type of hitting promotes a body driven swing as opposed to an arm swing.

It's great that your enjoying the site. Thank you so much, and the Federer info is great. I knew that. But had forgotten it. I wish I had put it in the video

Never start warm up behind the baseline, no pro does it, it's totally forbidden.

It's so hard to swing correctly when you start tennis as an adult, almost not possible, what I try is to completely relax my arm, wrist, and body, only then I can produce some good strokes, but there is not much consistency. My son started at 6, he is a champion now, one of the best players under 10 in our country.

-if were fairly observant I would say - Mr.1mt. your videos are very good quality material and top choice for me passing on the information to my 9y.old son , sometimes I suspect that he thinks that I am smart just because I'm given him good tennis advices (courtesy of yours ;))

Nobody learns correctly unless they start as a child and happen to have a great coach. It’s rare.

What do you suggest a coach does to adult players who have decided to take up tennis? Tell them to forget it . Or try to find ways of being successful.
Your right that starting young with a great coach is the best situation.
But we still have to try!

@ don’t get me wrong, you’re doing an amazing job! Adults can learn through you. I have!

@27blanx thanks for the kind words. I'm always really keen not to discourage improving players. Players of any age

BEWARE of your wrist if you try this method! Don't do it if you had injuries or a weak wrist. Children can handle this racket to body ratio because in the end the tissues are made of the same stuff, and young bodies heal faster. As an adult, you would stress your articulations way more if you tried to copy that kind of load.

With good technique. That's never a problem

@@nickiedaley4965 you do realize even pros have wrist injuries with regular weight rackets. Are you suggesting they don't have good technique ?
