- Mark Zuckerberg was recently on the @DwarkeshPatel Podcast talking about LLAMA 3, Meta's AI ambitions and all sorts of other stuff but something really caught our attention: He's very interested in "emotional AI" the kind of AI that can read our feelings.
This is an emerging area in AI but Hume AI is doing it remarkably well. They've developed a system that senses your emotions as you speak to it in real time and responds in kind.
You can actually try this for yourself right now on their website and see how it works. There's going to be so much more innovation in AI in the coming years but this one particularly feels important to get right.

Everyone should go watch the Dwarkesh Podcast ep (link in the notes above) but there's so much fascinating stuff that Zuck is thinking about in additional to emotional AI. Lots of talk about LLAMA 3, open sourcing AI and what might hold back AI progress.
Honestly, we're pretty impressed with how Mark has pivoted Meta towards this world and all the stuff around the Meta AI convo shouldn't undercut how crazy it is he's gotten this massive company pointed in this direction.
I've been talking with Hume AI and it's really amazing how it can analyze emotion in your voice!
yeah it's really a fascinating AI use case and we hope the start of something really big
it's another one of those demos to roll out to people who are really hesitant about AI overall
Man, you did it. I thought this was going to be about the Facebook AI saying it has kids, only to rewatch a segment I've already seen lol.
I GOT GOT GAVIN, I KNOW THIS WAS YOUR DOING!
I take no responsibility for the got-ing here. Actually, sorry yes I cannot lie. This is Gavin. And I didn't *mean* for it to be a got-ing. 😂
@@AIForHumansShow I usually skip these shorter uploads, but today I have to give credit where credit is due. You nailed the timing to get me hooked for this one!
Hume really is fascinating -- trying to sense how you *feel* vs just answering you really does feel like the future of a big part of interactions with humans and AIs.
It's obviously easy to fool as shown in the video.
Well, we’re being super over the top with it and it is JUST starting in terms of how good it is.
@@AIForHumansShow True, but it needs to be able to see a persons facial expressions and how consistent the person is with those facial expressions and tone.
I would imagine that's prob not too far behind. Especially if you get robots with cameras. Which, I'll be honest, does start to feel very terminator-ish lol.
What an interesting time to be alive to see this awesome technology bloom.
yeah def feels like we're entering into the next weird stage of life as humans, doesn't it?
Great info..but your background music is so loud, makes it hard to follow
thank you for this feedback. much appreciated and will try to keep it down.
I wonder if Hume can pick up my emo tendencies 😂
1000% we all can 😂😂😂
