The writers went "wait this guy is WAY too strong what have we done? How is anyone gonna defeat him? We gotta make him a child then...."

You are wrong poison birdie Dorian is the strongest. Proof as you say hanayama beats spec but hanayama
was beaten by katsumi in tournament but also Dorian was a real deal to both Katsumi,Doppo and other karetekas so Dorian is the strongest

Depends what you mean by "toughest" if you mean raw Endurance I would actually say Doyle with how much he got fucked-up and still came back. If you mean combat prowess, I would say Dorian and Spec are around the same level, with Dorian being stronger. If you mean deadliness, it would be Yanagi with his poison hand and other shit.
