I saw this as a first run movie in London when I was 8. I don't think anyone has ever done a better job of filming the way these kinds of battles looked. They had a huge bunch of guys from the Soviet army who were doing all the soldier movements. No CGI. That helicopter shot of the cavalry charging the Wellington squares is just unbelievably complex. Thank you for this!
@@Grayhouselikestitanic1912 You mean the bit where the whole orchestra plus canons kicks in, and it's like a Classical AC/DC concert? Or do you mean 3 hours?
Tecnically yes, but a lot of people have a misconception about the battle of Waterloo. It wasn't only a british victory, in fact, a lot of the army was composed of troops and militias of neighbouring german states (like Brunswick or Nassau) and the Netherlands, and of course there was the prussian army who came to help Wellington's forces at the end
This is Russian music. The irony is that every July 4th, American ignoramuses stand to the anthem of Russian empire. The last musical notes are a quote from the Russian imperial anthem))) this is very fun for every Russian.
At Waterloo, without the Prussians, England loses open a book. Thanks Prussia. In 1815, Napoleon's army was already a shadow of its former self and had lost its strength. The Grande Armée was decimated in 1812 by the Russian retreat against the Russians, there was nothing left of the army. Hence the title of the video “1812” and the work of Tchaikovsky. Waterloo was an inexperienced army. I know that the English always want to seize the glory but their role in the war was secondary. . He simply paid the other nations, Austria, Prussia, Russia, etc. so that they can wage war in his place.
