    Man I loved watching this game. Kyle Orton struck me as a Jay Cutler type, really talented when he wanted to be. Then one day he went to the store for cigarettes and never came back. Legend has it he can still throw a football clear over them mountains

      He was better than cutler imo but you know those guys were traded for one another?back in 08 or 09

    And now in hindsight, we now know the QB didn’t want to be there, the coach was planning on leaving with the clause in his contract, and Watkins was getting drunk every night and missing training appointments and wasn’t happy being here either. Good riddance to all! We finally have a culture of coaches and players that WANT to be here. The Watkins trade makes so much more sense now.

    • @buffaloarchivesnow
      @buffaloarchivesnow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      ... and in spite of all of that, the Bills went 9-7! And easily left a couple of games on the table that would've gotten them into the playoffs.

    • @2taggs2
      @2taggs2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Buffalo Archives Now : They without question had the talent. Just not the commitment. That’s just my point. When you’re already thinking about leaving in the off-season, or don’t fully commit, you won’t be successful. Not to mention the toxic relationship between Whaley and Marrone. Just look at that roster... especially the defense. Under a non dysfunctional circumstance, there’s no reason for this team only to win 9 games.

    • @kevinwilson3296
      @kevinwilson3296 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Agree with everything except the kyle orton thing he was just done with football he was missing his family too much it had nothing to do with the team but yeah watkins was a huge let down in buffalo...it made no sense to me why he was playing the way he was until his interview came out and the coach dont even get me started lol

    • @2taggs2
      @2taggs2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinwilson3296 : I completely understand his decision to retire didn't have to do with Buffalo. I meant more in the sense he pretty much was begged by the Bills to play and they upped the money so much, he couldn't refuse - they tried signing him preseason and he refused bc of family - that was a mistake on the Bills part to beg someone if they aren't 100% mentally ready... but they were so desperate knowing Manuel was garbage, they felt they had to. He was just checked out already and lost the passion to play. When you have it in your mind already that your leaving as soon as the season ends, you just aren't going to play the same. To his credit, he did have a decent season, but literally the moment the season ended, he left the facility and dodged reporters. He could have at least let know the team and or Marrone he just wanted to play just that year... bc if you remember, it caught everyone off guard... one of the main reasons Marrone left - he hated Manuel.

    • @clinicalresearchmentors

      Yeah surprisingly decent season for Orton and Watkins being drunk 90% of the time, with a highly toxic front office... Also, Orton is running in slow mo compared to Josh Allen LOLLLL

      @General Raam I have a lot of faith in the new regime in buffalo. I got to see Allen play in his rookie year. The final game of the year they destroyed Miami. It was awesome to see. Year 3 he needs to make a big step, he has the weapons and the defense so it's on him and the coaches now more than ever. It's looking bright for the bills these days

      Well sure, and tbh I'm no Bills fan (just a Purdue fan & wanted to see "whatever happened to...") and Orton himself would likely admit his mobility to akin to a goldfish... like the kind in a small bowl. 3" at a time and back and forth only lol. Then again, based on this video alone, that bowl has A TON of leaks on the left side. And the right. And underneath too. Said another way, even inch-long swims don't work without being able to hold the water smh lol.

    If Buffalos OLine wasn’t so incredibly awful this season, the team would’ve made the playoffs for sure. The “cold front” defensive line was without a doubt the best in football at the time. When Orton had time to throw he could pick teams apart with Woods and Watkins.

      They had a very solid core, Marrone just didn't use them effectively. They had Mike Williams who was a great red zone receiver they never used and Marquis Goodwin who was a great deep threat they didn't use properly. With a better offensive gameplan, the team probably would have made the playoffs.

    My lasting memory of Cowboy Kyle Orton was the Denver “rigged as hell” game, if you’re a true Bills fan you’ll remember that game, refs giving fist bumps after Denver touchdowns 🤣 anyways during that game we needed a clutch drive it was 3rd and whatever Cowboy Kyle scrambles for the first down he sees the Denver defender coming and just bails right before the first down, and slid. No plans on taking the hit for the chance to maybe win, that’s how you know that Bills culture was toxic, just a bunch of guys there to cash cheques no leadership before McDermott!
