IDAHO FALLS - Dylan Rounds’ mother wants the family members of missing people to know they’re not alone and she’s working to help those facing similar situations to the one she found herself in two years ago.
“When Dylan’s case first started, we didn’t know what to do. We didn’t know who to trust. We were completely lost and hundreds of people reached out to me saying they could fix everything,” Candice Cooley tells EastIdahoNews.com. “Unfortunately, a lot of organizations come in, and they take advantage of families, in my opinion.”
Dylan was laid to rest Saturday following an outdoor memorial service on his family farm. The 19-year-old vanished in the remote desert town of Lucin, Utah in May 2022 and his family spent nearly two years searching him. Earlier this year, James Brenner, a 60-year-old man with a violent criminal history, admitted to killing Dylan and led law enforcement to his body. Brenner pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is serving a prison sentence in Utah.
When Dylan first disappeared, Rhonda “Jaz” Dequier reached out to Cooley to offer support. Dequier runs the Missing in America Network, an online organization dedicated mainly to people who have vanished within the past twelve months.
“The biggest thing we do is awareness. We do all the Facebook groups and social media and we get the word out,” Dequier says. “We offer billboards, we offer flyer events where you go in and you flyer a lot of places to help find missing kids or missing adults. We are here to help the families.”
Cooley and Dequier are now joining forces to provide additional resources in missing person cases such as drones and K9 dogs. They spoke with EastIdahoNews.com about their plans. Watch the entire conversation in the video player above.

Thank you Nate! I know Candace from Twin Falls, we work in the same building. For the longest time I had No idea what she was going through. Until your broadcast with herself & Dylan’s dad. She suffered and most of us had no idea. I see how far she has come in finding a way to induce her pain and energy into SOMETHING And this is it. But Nate, you have truly helped in some many ways with so many children. You do more than any other channel in Idaho, and I live in Idaho! Thank you~ you and your family have made an impact on so many. Love & blessings from TF

As a mom and grandma in MO, I've followed Dylan's case thru all the heartbreak. I'm so glad to hear about Candice joining forces with Jaz's organization, to help other families get thru similar situations. Ladies, I think that's a GREAT idea, to design and sell sweatshirts featuring a tractor. This could help bring more awareness, as well as money to help with searches. I'd certainly buy one of the sweatshirts!

Candace, I have followed Dylan case this whole time. I give you so much credit for never giving up and just pushing forward. You will be a great advocate for so many who are going through similar situations. Thanks so much for all that you are doing to bring awareness to so many issues that most of us have never thought about. Thanks for making all of us look and talk about things that are difficult so that we can help others.

I see where Dylan got his determination to be a successful farmer, such positive self-confidence; from Candice! She has got to be the strongest mother I've ever witnessed. I have followed all her interviews back when Dylan was first missing. You're amazing 👏 Keep going Candice, all us mothers can learn from you. 🙏

What ever happened with Dylan's land property? Sold? That would make a nice campsite or a shelter for the sound minded respectful homeless people and families that would obey rules of being clean & keeping the property clean.

Not trying to be snarky or critical, but we really need there to be more people impressing on young men the danger of bodies of water. Even if they can swim. Too many die who shouldn't because of a simple mistake they don't see coming.
