It’s so true. It’s called students companion- gari, Nido, Shito, sardines etc. Gari is the food that is a last minute emergency food in houses in Ghana.

Not necessarily, but it is not cooked the majority of the time until someone suggests/brings it up, and then it gets prepared.
I have cooked it sometimes and served for 8 people as total for my family years ago when in Ghana.
The Diffence is that the red oil does has a solid/thick taste on your tongue & it thickens after the food is left for some time.
And u have to heat it up when you're ready to eat it as compared to u just wat it without warming it up if it was regular jollof rice.
It is a bit cheap whereby u don't have to use meat or chicken like for Jollof rice 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Poor people in Ghana still eat Red Oil (Palm Oil) Rice.
But the majority would rather use the Palm Oil for a Stew or to fry ingredients in making food.
    Ghanaians generally eat;
    Red (Palm) Oil Rice,
    Coconut Oil Rice,
    Palm Kernel Oil Rice,
    Shea Butter Oil Rice,
    Rice Oil Rice
And any other refined Cooking Oil for Rice and other foods.
    Enjoy Ghana...🇬🇭

Yes you can eat shito with Bread. Shito can be eaten with everything because proper shito is made with shrimps, herrings or dry salmon , ginger garlic . The spicy part depends on how much dry pepper you add to it. When i was in high school in Ghana i took 2 types of shito to school, the sweet one with less pepper and the hot one with more pepper which i gave out to the seniors when they come asking me for shito. The wakye shito is not the same as the regular shito we eat. I watch your channel a lot. Am a Ghanaian residing in the USA..Big ups to you

😂😂😂😂yes it is true we use palm oil if you can not afford the vegetable oil because palm oil is cheaper than the vegetable oil. It is not really common as the "anwamo."❤❤❤❤

Mister 2nd guy, we do cook red oil rice and Ghanaians call Red Jollof rice and my mom cooks it sometimes and u use palm oil, smoked hering fish where u debone them & break them into pieces. No shrimp powder/crayfish. Instead, we use smoked herring fish or any hard smoake fish.
We also blend peppers, inions, & garlic in one & then blend your tomatoes separately.
U start first with red oil & in a pan and pour your blended pepper/onions/garlic/ fry it till it dried up suspends on oil & pour the blended tomatoes....
After u apply everything as if u r making Jollof rice from there on..🤷🏽.
