    Get rid of the weather strips around the rear arches. Does nothing but cause rot in the arches. Only Achilles heel of an S2k is rust!

    If you’re going to change the oil and filter, make sure you torque the filter to spec. I know I sound nuts, but these engines have a resonance which loosens the filter if only hand tight. Been there, done that, had a small fire!

    The tire may have enough tread depth but, you need to check the manufacture date as well.

    You're correct, the water marks on the rear lights are on the inside. The foam seals between them and the frame perish and you get condensation inside. Might be able to get them out with a bit of distilled water swilled around inside, otherwise you'll need to heat and break the seals between the clear element and backing to clean them. The foam seals are cheap to get new, or you could make some yourself.
    Agree with others' comments on removing the arch guards and checking the drain tubes are clear.
    Those window seals at the top of the door are extremely expensive from Honda, typically £100+ EACH. Honda parts prices in general can be eye watering these days.
    You can get very good quality 'Honda Access Mats' from Cox Honda, they are £200+ for a set mind so not one for a budget.

    You are very thorough with your projects. I liked the one on the 350z. Haven’t looked at the boxer yet but will.

    Absolutely love the S2000. Had one when I was 23 and it was amazing.
    Top tip, the exact same rip in the roof happened to mine right down near the bodywork. I had a repair done and it came apart after about a month. New roof was the only option.

    The underside of that S2000 is very clean. Worth giving the sills a good grind back and painting before any kind of underseal. Definitely remove the rear arch ribber strips and inspect carefully including the previous repair. Rear number plate recess brackets always rot off, most people seal the recess to the bumper

    • @RoadandRacetv
      @RoadandRacetv  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the tips. Took the bumper off today and the rear plate bracket was mostly rust! Any idea why its a seperate piece and not just part of the main bumper?

    I had a little bit of bubbling on the lower rear offside arch when I bought mine,. £4.5k later because it turned out that was only the beginning. Two new inner arches on both sides. New outer arch for the offside. Then everything was cleaned up underside and treated.
    My camber and caster nuts are seized on the offside too. Horrible job. Luckily seized in the correct positions so was to get the alignment setup. Another common issue. £1.5k to sort.

    Take the valve cover off. Strip it, and paint with honda red crinkle paint. Easy to do, and really makes the engine bay look great.

    New soft top - look up Jack R Smith motor trimmers, Swansea. Used to be able to get a new soft top for an MR2 there (fitted) for £300, I believe its around £350 now. He does other cars too which I believe includes S2000...

      You won’t find a more cost effective solution, a new hood would give it a real lift and the seller will easily get more uplift in price than the roof will cost. He does have pretty long waiting lists though, but you might get lucky with a cancellation.

    • @johnfharvey
      @johnfharvey 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes would recommend also Raymond Pugh LTD Swansea. Used him for hood on my second S2000. £330 in 2020. The dealers here in Salisbury, couldn’t believe it, they were quoting ~700. Asked me to come back with the top done, the whole workshop came out and inspected. They were duly impressed. Hope he’s still going. Really is a back street/ rear garage affair. Brilliant.

      Jack Smith is apparently getting tired of servicing us S2000 owners, we're too 'fussy' or something along those lines. I think he outright turned someone down recently

    Try a leather repair kit for the drivers seat. Not easy to do but would make a good video and I’m sure a man of ur talents can do it - I managed it!

      Great idea. Thanks. How long did it take you? What brand of kit did you use please?

    • @Sorted7
      @Sorted7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RoadandRacetv there are many different kits on Amazon, I think mine was the leather sofa company or something but they are all similar. Time to do it depends on the repair size and access but it’s basically glueing a canvas to the back of the damaged area, then add a rubber filler and then colour it. Took me about an hour on a hole the size of a 50p. Many vids on here to show how they work but none on car channels so could get u some views!

      It’s often just that the fixings have worked loose. Tighten them up on the door and door pillar and you’ve probably cured it - good luck.
