    Wonderful to hear you two discuss these fragrances and topics; please do more videos like this if you have time...even if the birds join you ;-) And I think Khos's observations about "performance" and palate sensitivity are very insightful. I think some people go way too heavy on their fragrances and get used to that intensity, then feel that anything less than extreme lacks performance. It's like getting used to drinking very sweet tea and your palate gets calibrated to that sweetness as "normal," but then you can't detect subtle sweetness in herbal teas or spices (or that's been my personal experience at least!) Thank you and take care!

      Agree that was such a great observation!

    I agree with a previous comment that " perfume has no gender" rather more * a personality". I, myself usually wear perfumes that are more bold, rough, and my boyfriend enjoys more soft and delicate compositions.
    P.s. your birds were so funny when they at some point started a "concert"

    This video is so satisfying on the visual and auditory level. The light at the beginning, both of you good looking people, the sound of the rain, the birds, your voices and the relaxed, unrushed pace of conversation... Love it.

    It was very interesting to watch and listen to both of you, it turned out a very peaceful and cozy video. And yes, I agree, the perfume is selected "for yourself", and not on the principle of male or female :))

    OMG! Those birds! I almost want to get up, and try my sample of Ormond Woman (it’s close to 2am). I remember I liked it. I may not buy it now, I have enough and I think it would be an evening scent. Since, there’s a curfew...🤷🏽‍♀️ I just looked at Myrrhe Carmin, and it’s sold out. I’ll have to try and sample that. I appreciate the distinction of masculine/fem on a range like Lucky Scent. Then, based on the notes, it gives me an idea if I’ll like it. I love woods, amber, and incense. Those are often classified as more masculine, and I know I’ll like it for myself. People are a combination of masculine and feminine. Plus, chemistry will effect how it will smell on you.

    I definitely prefer the women's version of Zen to the men's. Hands down. A wonderful discussion Cherie. In the next one, I wonder if you guys could discuss the topic of the proliferation of fragrance free zones worldwide. Since Khos is in the healthcare field, it might be interesting to get his perspective on how best to handle the issue as fragrance enthusiasts. Thank you!

    I always go by the phrase " perfume doesn't have a gender but it has a personality " and it was touched on in the video , some fragrances weather marketed towards men or women just don't suit me for a plethora of reasons.
    Great video and loved the back and forth between you both 🍀

    Happy New Year! Khos stories and behind the scenes knowledge about some fragrances are indeed really great. And the way you guys talk about Ormonde Woman Edp, gee makes me think of how I felt when I smelled the original vintage Opium parfum back in the late 80s, kind of a witches potion, the good kind of course ;) Definitely must smell this Ormonde Woman
    PS. Birds and doggy background sound cameos made me realize now who Cherie reminds me of: Jill from the video game Jill of the Jungle ;)

    I love these videos so glad you did this I agree they should market unisex it would make it easier. My son takes some of my perfumes . Gucci that is a perfume that after 30 + years of marriage my husband knows it time to send the kids to the movies or grandma's house , you know what I mean. Yes my favorite Guerlain Samsara the original vintage I have 4 back ups it's my signature sent since I was a teenager in the 80's my mom was into perfume and this was the 3rd Guerlain sent she gave me and I just loved it and still do .

    Great video as always! I do not really understand all the fuss about gender and perfume. Everyone is free to wear and buy whatever they want. And then maybe you get a question if this smells masculine/feminine and should you wear it, but really, what is wrong with that? It is just a question, not an insult. For some men/women is it very important to smell of what is marketed towards men/women, that is also an opinion that has equal value to those who mean that everything should be marketed as unisex. A lot of people prefer clothes/perfume that is marketed towards their own gender, others not, or they like both. Either perspective is valid. And if I mix up sex/gender, sorry for that, but I hope everyone get what I mean! I wear whatever perfume I like, I shy away from fougere/barbershop kind of scents, and gourmands and fruity florals are not my cup pf tea. Apart from that, I am open to test most perfumes.

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you. I still describe things as masculine or feminine but I admit I have felt kind of “bad” doing that lately because of this issue. I think the marketing can be so overtly one way or another though that it would put a lot of people off from even trying them. Anyway, great comment and thanks for watching :)

    Interesting discussion on gender in fragrance. Pls discuss age in fragrance. Particularly the fact that most "on trend" fragrance reviewers say "fragrance is genderless" and then turn around and go "oh that's a grandma smell".

    I agree as well that fragrance has no gender and they definitely wear differently. Example I have both TF noir extreme and pour femme; the extreme works better with my body chemistry and last longer. I know some men who prefers the pour femme.

    Hello Cherie, would you please let me know what is Ormonde Jayne Woman similar to? I am so intrigued by it and planing to buy it especially after the way you are describing this one. I think you mentioned once it is close to Chanel no.19 which I have and adore. Is it still worthwhile buying OJ Woman? Thank you.

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Evangelina, I said OJ Woman was similar to Chanel 19? Wow I was way off then. I actually haven’t come across anything that is similar to Woman, I think it’s a very unique fragrance. Very different from 19 - they are both green, that’s where the similarity ends. I don’t think Woman is a safe blind buy though, as lots of women I know don’t really love it like I do. I did do a full review on a livestream with Pep from The Scentinel recently I’ll try an pull up the link for you, it’s posted on his channel :) x

    I am not sure why we struggle w/ this subjects. To me, fragrances CAN lean feminine or masculine, BUT does not prohibit me from wearing what I like. I actually dislike the term "unisex", I think this decision is personal and should not be sacrilege to describe something as masculine or feminine, as we all contain both feminine and masculine.
