I did this with my lil brother, we played Pokémon together as he grew up and he always wanted to battle my team. He lost every battle we played, so much my mom wanted me to LET him win. Told her nah, he needed to earn his win. And God did he… my little brother has never smiled as wide as he did when he finally won of his own merit. He learned, he overcame, and he destroys me now. Even though it was a kids game to me, I have never been more proud of my brother. Edit: Wow, thank you kind strangers! And yes, Pokémon is more than a kids game now, but for me it will always hold a special place in my heart as a boy who watched the show on KidsWB back in the 90s :)

But when we were in high school I had a much bigger growth spurt than him and was already bigger than him at 16 years old. I also got into boxing and then MMA and he was more interested in girls in high school. One time we both were home for the break from college, I was 19 and he was 21. We were drinking and he started trying to big brother me like we were still kids. I beat the shit out of him that night haha, probably more than I should have but there was a lot of resentment. We’re almost 30 now and still best friends, but he knows that he ain’t shit to me physically anymore, and it’s probably because of all the times he kicked my ass as kids that kept me motivated and practiced so hard because nothing was given to me easy by him or all the older dudes in the neighborhood.
