This rare interview should be conducted by a quality interviewer & a competent interpreter, & without the disturbing background noises !!! I wonder if it had been prearranged !! The reporter asked too many similar questions, & wasn't focused on any theme for the entire interview !! The translator needs great improvement in organizing the ideas in Gong Li's answers & expressing these ideas accurately in the English language !!
Well, she do understand English and even responded some simple quiz in English. Perhaps she wanted to do it in native tongue, so the answers will be more detailed and sincere(and sure it was).

@Chrissy T truth to be told, after Usa market, 2nd most common one is spanish speaking world - thats why lots of songs are recorded in Spanish + a lot of Spanish directors involved in mainstream movies. But I agree, they should learn on both sides
