To 'regulate' the movement of 'outsiders' to tribal-dominated hill districts of erstwhile Assam - modern Mizoram and Nagaland; along with North East Frontier Tracts (later NEFA and modern Arunachal Pradesh) the British started issuing Inner Line Permits (ILP) under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873. The system was later adopted by the Government of India to 'preserve' the unique culture of tribes.
After anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests all over the northeast, the ILP system was extended to Manipur and a similar system was proposed for Meghalaya.
We discuss the history of ILP and also detail how you can get one for yourself.

We northeastern states are tribal states with tribal people, we value our culture and our traditions very seriously, so ILP is to protect ourselves from outsiders dominating us since we are a minority with very less population. What will you do if people from northeastern states come and dominate the states like Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab, etc. Will you be happy and accept it?

बाकि के राज्य इससे छुटकारा चाहते हैं।

I think, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh etc. Those who want ILP and charges Tax(money) to let enter their state, other states like Assam, Bengal, Bihar, Delhi,,,,,etc also must check ILP and charge Tax (money) from those people who belong to Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh etc.... I'm from Assam, When I went To Manipur, I paid 200 rupees tax for fifteen days, but Manipuri people can come to Assam without any tax, charges nor any documental verification. It's ohk, if they perform documents verification in order to see whether we are Indian or not, but they even charges money. Why should we have to pay even if we are Indian,,, what kind of this fucking rule? I just request to our honorable Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswasharma, to look into this matter.🙏🏻🙏🏻

I worked from 2016-18 almost 2 years in Dimapur, but I didn't need to had any permit.. I roam around several times to Kohima and inner part of other district. No body asked me

This provision is under article 371 and similar provision with more relief is given to JandK. under article 370 .This condition prevails in special states and and many states tribal and lands of many immunities and agricultural land can't be purchased by ever

The reality is before the independent of india, Nagaland nation is no parts of india.
Nagaland nation took under Indian Constitution.
However Naga people don't want to be part of India.
Govt of India had given special power of hilly state like Naga people. (Article 370).
Actually the thing is Nagaland is having problems with illigal immigrants from Bangladesh. 80% of the non locals here are without proper documentations, illegally establishing businesses and this has greatly effected us Nagas. N majority of em are from Bangladesh n are illegal immigrants
