Felling A Dangerous Rotted Tree

  • It seems like every big tree I cut down is somehow sketchier than the one before it, and this ash (or hickory, won’t know for sure until I mill it up) is no exception. It’s been rotting away for years but I didn’t notice how bad it had become since it was still green last summer. It definitely wouldn’t have made it another summer though, and it probably would’ve caused major damage to my house on the way down. Thankfully everything went according to plan!

Nice work 👍 A good decision to make your felling cut high up for sure 👊

Thanks! Was hoping there'd be enough holding wood that high up and fortunately there was.
