As long as the engine is up to full temp and has some miles on it, there is nothing wrong with revving the engine. It's good for it once in a while, gets all the carbon out of the cylinder walls and keeps all the oil circulating properly throughout the motor.
ROAD NOISE: I had that problem in my 2003 Honda Civic Coupe - Solved it by getting some Low Noise Rated Sumitomo tires. The difference was pretty amazing. I now have a Gray Fit Sports with 850 miles on it. So far so good. I really enjoy driving the Fit. I purchased it after watching your videos. It's a Manual!
Dude everything is "cheaply made" for you lol its a Honda under $20,000. Dont expect a luxary vehicle for the price.. Im sure Honda's goal was achieved with this car do to the fact that it beats most in its class. Price and MPG.
The best upgrade I ever did to my 2013 fit was upgrading the tires. I got some really decent Goodyears (Assurance) . Way quieter, better handling, and did not wear out nearly as quickly as the stock tires. Actually kind of comfortable. I love this car so much, that I'll probably replace it with the same exact generation, when that day sadly and inevitably comes. Not sold on the new ones, especially with CVT. The only feature I wish it had is Bluetooth. Not a deal-breaker though. This is the closest to "classic" Honda that you can find in a fairly recent model.
I love the fact that the Honda Fit is minimal. I had a Honda Fit Sport 2010 which was a truly amazing car and fun to drive. I drove it gently and managed to drive it without too much noise complaints. Not a big fan of too much bling, to be honest. Decent and honest review. Now shopping for another Honda Fit but frankly, I don't think the newer body style resonates to my aesthetic. The 2018 Fit looks more like a CR-V which I don't care for.
You were the inspiration for me to buy a Fit , I got it two months a go , same color like yours but with Automatic / Paddle shifters ... It's been amazing so far and i think the cloth seats are way more comfortable than leather specially in hot and humid weather ... You've taken a good are of your car and I admire that ! Keep posting such great videos ...
Our main issue has to do with the high levels of engine and road noise and the choppy ride quality. However, we must let you know that when this car was brand new, the road noise wasn't as loud as it is right now. We suspect the cheap Dunlop tires are the culprit as they are half wore out right now. You get used to the stiff ride but if you carry passengers in the rear during the trip they will notice the bouncy ride quality. Ask the dealer to drive it on the hwy, you may be ok with it.
If the Fit was an Automatic then BT wouldn't be as necessary. However, with a lot of traffic in this area and a stick shift, it would be nice to have it.
late to the party, but I noticed that you drove right by my old house from the 1990s in Alexandria at the 21:00 mark. Great review, still pertinent to this day as I am in the market for a project car, and Fits are high on the list
Out of all the sub-compacts on the market, we still feel the Honda Fit is in the top 3. It's just no longer the top choice. Out of the 3 you mentioned, we would take a Fit first any day. Not all sub-compacts are large inside, the Fiesta is very cramped same with the Mazda2.
got to say guys, i hope you make it big on youtube. you guys are probably my favorite car reviewers on youtube because of your unique style. keep it up!
I've had my new fit sport for over a year now and honestly I'm probably gonna have it until the wheels fall off. There's been lotta complaints about cabin noise, but really if your looking for an imperfection your gonna find it. I have two kids that I take on road trips with and they can't seem to stay awake inside the fit. Once the windows are rolled up, it's like a soundproof studio inside, not extremely quiet but you can hear yourself think.
6 reasons why I got the fit last year instead of the SI or GTI. 1- the price 2-unleaded over premium gas prices 3-turbocharge and high performance maintenance 4-versatility, magic rear seats 5-better MPG 6-insurance cost is lower Hope it helps.
I own a 2008 Honda Fit Sport with 5 speed automatic pedals shifters. I brought new. It's almost 13 years old with 148,000 miles. I love the 6 speakers CD radio sound system with 300 watts.
Great review. I just bought a 2013 Fit sport and I am really loving it so far. I use the freeway to get to work everyday and honestly I don't feel a lag or anything that might concern me (my car being an automatic, I thought I would have concerns with that aspect)...thankfully. I'd have to say that this car should definitely be grouped with the top picks for class/price range. Great pro/con list that should be very helpful for those considering this awesome little car.
In the sub-compact class, we think the Fit and Fiesta are best in class. However, depending on your taste and budget, you may end up like the Accent or Rio as well. If you could move up a class, we'd recommend checking out the Mazda3 and Ford Focus too.
I have gotten away from the Dunlops and run Yokohama 520s. Wet weather traction increased, no accidental wheel spin like with the Dunlop POSes, and my fuel economy increased. ;)
Thank you, I was quite shocked to be reading soo much hate this time, I know there are a lot of people out there that love this car. I am still one of them it's just I wanted everyone to see what Honda needs to do with the 3rd generation Fit. It's still a great car, and to be honest I am much more picky vs the average consumer. I'm also confident that if I replaced the Dunlop tires with better ones the road noise would go down.
It's still a fine choice today, out of all the sub-compacts on the market, it has the strongest resale value, best reliability, and roomiest interior. It's no longer the only choice out there but it's still a solid choice. The main issue we mostly have is the road noise, which can be fixed with a set of good tires. We were getting trade in offers at $14,500 for it and that is just fantastic resale value.
I had a 2011 Honda fit sport when I was in college and I Love! it. Till this day it has been the best and funnest car I have owned for the Money. I have owned old civics, vw corrado, mk2 Gti, 2011 civic si, and now a 2013 Mazdaspeed 3.
this review is pretty true. I have my fit for 3 years and it feels like me review. Don;t trade it , its a great car. Also, after i put new tires the road noise reduces just a bit. I love the value and the reliabilty. I truly love this car.
Great review!! 😃 To funny that you got caught up on the cold drinks in the summer and warm drinks in the winter Just like I did on my Tips and Tricks Video. I did it like 3 times n still messed it up LOL
Pretty great review. Touched on a lot of points that most people care about when selecting a vehicle. I'm looking at hondas again after trading in my '08 Si for a van. just a point about economy. The si was of course a stick and I averaged over a four year period 29mpg. The car was rated 21/29 so I don't know if Honda under rates them or if you actually know how to drive a stick you can get great mileage. again great review.
Our editor in chief did notice that when he bought the car, the road noise was much quieter, the Dunlop tires are def to blame. We shall look into replacement tires perhaps, if he decides to keep the vehicle
Here in Mexico we get the one made in Brazil while Honda makes it's Celaya plant. It has disc brakes on the rear wheels and it is a bit shorter because it has a smaller nose, which makes it a teensy bit lighter (15lbs or so). Mine had a 5 speed auto and I still managed to squeeze an incredible 13km/l | 30mpg city. I had it for three years and I crashed it twice, but it didn't really get as noisy as yours, and mine was the 2008 model. I switched it for a 2011 Accord coupe V6, and I still miss it.
No matter what budget anyone has, it doesn't mean they can't be a perfectionist in whatever way they want to be. I am positive that there are many things in people lives that they own that they wish were better.
I owned one of these for a short time (with the stick) and I agree with this review completely. The only drawbacks were that it was too buzzy and revved to high at highway cruising speed, and the seat could've gone back a tad bit more for me to be comfortable. I'm 6'0" tall and I was just a little too leggy. As a performance enthusiast, I can't believe what Ford is doing with the Fiesta ST! 197hp in this class is amazing!!
Watching this makes me miss my 09 sport. I traded it in for a 2013 mazda 3 i touring, to which I love more, but I will always have a soft spot for the honda fit
I also bought a new 2012 Fit Sport Manual (silver) in Dec 2011 and I very much agree with the pros and cons stated. It's a great looking HB, fun to drive city car with good economy, reliability, and space efficiency. Ikea folks are also surprised at how much I'm packing in that thing. Yes, it is lacking in power, taller cruising gear, tech, cheap interior, soft brakes, nervous HW steering, and not that quiet. Btw after upgrading from the stock tires it got quiet again and with better wet weather grip. It's been a fun daily driver to fling around corners, but uncomfortable road trips and safety concerns are leading us to trading up to possibly the new Fit, but probably the Subaru Crosstrek, since it's actually a little bigger, safer, AWD, still reliable and still gets similar mpgs. The Subie probably won't be as fun in the corners and it looks ugly, but I still have my old 5th gen Prelude SH for fun...
Watching tis in 2024, it's so nice of you to start in a modest car. I love to have like this but they don't make them now. Maybe a decent used would be nice.
I can't agree more with your statement on how a Fit Si would sell like crazy. It almost bothers me that they don't have one yet, let alone if they never give us one. I love Honda--like a lot of us--but c'mon, it just makes sense to make a Fit Si and they haven't done it.
My steering has the bump, I have a JDM Rs, they give a center console as well, auto headlights hids, keyless start and entry, air pump, 6 speed manual gearbox, back disc brakes and i have an ipod interface, an extra ush port, bluetooth hands free calling... they really kept the best for japan
I know what you mean about the utility of the vehicle. I know that, in comparison to a LOT of other vehicles, it is a cheap car . . . but every time I see one, I want one. Especially one in blue. Thanks for the review!
Love this car, not without it's flaws but still best in class in my opinion! Thanks for the one year update! Very useful info and you're easy on the eyes! :)))
Stop making excuses for the shitty materials in this car. Hondas of the 90's never had such crap quality materials on the interior. Honda has such garbage quality these days, other automakers too, but since the 7th Gen Civic Honda has really done a complete 180 in quality.
That is the best looking Fit I have ever seen. Such great cars! Fun to drive, massively roomy inside, 10 cupholders and durable if made in Japan. Do you still have it?
very true. last oil change i averaged 39mpg overall. currently i am averying 34 cuz i decided to drive a lil faster and just get the most of the honda engine. its fun puts a smile on my face. sounds good too.
After watching the video again, he may love the vtec range a little too much which would certainly drop the mpgs. Jumping from 80 to 100hp may give you the "fun little go cart feel" but those longer valve movements mean more fuel consumption. I'm a dad going back and forth to work. I have no illusions that I'm going to be the first on stopped at the next red light.
@@Jo_Galezo It doesn't focus the beam and blinds other road users. In many countries it's illegal for that reason. EPIC dazzle. I want to punch people who do it. You have to buy specific projector headlights to run HIDs correctly.
It's not that bad, honestly. As long as they are of low wattage, and the headlights are kept clean and clear it will not glare *too much* light compared to a 90's F150 with 55w 8K hids.
You're spot on about the clutch....The clutch on this and i think the 8th gen civic too has a Clutch delay valve in the master cylinder, designed for "smoother" engagement, but right, it makes it super vague feeling! A 01-05 base civic clutch master cylinder is a direct swap with just bending a line a little. Did it on my 12 Fit sport, much better!!!
Thanks. Some good tips. Regarding lack of tech. You may want to do some research on pulling out the entertainment system and replacing it. I did the research for a CRV and found I could add all the tech I want, blue tooth, nav system, android and apple car play mirroring, rearview camera, blind spot cameras, dash camera, etc, etc, etc. The unit I found replaced double DIN systems. If that system is single DIN you may not get all the functionality you want, but a lot more than you have. Cheap cars of all types are not loaded with functionality.
If you plan to get Honda Fit get one not Earth Dream direct injector probably before 2014, because of oil deluding or watch Scotty Kilmer video called The end of Honda.
If I owned one, I don't know how long the "I really like this" feeling would last. I mean the fit seems great on the showroom floor, and it seems like a great everyday driver. I can't imagine myself driving this EVERY day though. Too small I prefer something big when I'm doing faster driving, and prefer something smaller when I go to the gas station lol
as far as fun to drive factor goes.... the auto takes all the spirit out of the car. You still get a great practical car with ENORMOUS INTERIOR VOLUME. if you can drive a manual, I highly recommend. ( it is what I have!)
+Tofu If you've ever driven an older mustang V8 from the late 90's you know that they are way too much engine for the chassis, and that makes them pretty fun even though they handle poorly. The FRS is the opposite; it is way to much chassis for the engine. It would be like having a mountain bike with titanium frame and a trick suspension... with training wheels on the side of it. The body/suspension drives like it was made for a car with 2x the horsepower and 3x the torque. The Fit's steering is very direct, so much so that it reminded me of a 4 wheel steering Prelude I once owned. And it's manual transmission was just as smooth as the FRS with throws about the same. It was shocking to me how much fun it was to drive, even though it isn't fast. I took it onto the highway because I had read that they are "buzzy" at highway speed, which it was, but by that time I didn't care. I also drove one of the new generation Fits (2016) and it wasn't nearly as fun as the 2009 I tested which really is a shame. I was considering a new F150 for 4 times as much, but now I think I will look for a 2012-2013 Fit Sport with a manual for a fraction of the price.
driving now the 2024 Jazz hybrid 122 hp,there is a huge differeds is driving comfort and economic experiance.the Jazz is stil a compact car with a lot of extras : 10 ! airbags build-in,heating stearing, still got the magic seats and the two electric motors EV drive ,no belt drive cvt,and the full safty features like the backdrive to alarm in the dark when driving out the park in the dark and ,still lots of space behind.and more impotend the silence in the cabin.
I'm not going to sugar coat my review. This is my car that I pay for everyday and I thought I felt the need to share the things wrong with it. When you own a car for a year you really figure out whats wrong with it. I want Honda to see this so they can fix the problems for the next generation Fit. Sorry you felt that way but my style is just honest and blunt. Also, you think I did something to make it louder? Those are the factory tires, I rotated them once already. The car is just loud.
$12 bluetooth AUX adapter solves one problem. Funny you mentioned the Focus ST, I considered trading my '13 Mustang GT on one but changed my mind, no dead pedal in the Focus is annoying. RV-like turning radius, and torque steer. Fiesta ST is much more fun IMO and solves aforementioned problems. Neither has anywhere near the practicality, reliability, or space of the fit. Glad you went with 5MT Sport not the auto! I love my '13 Sport 5MT and drive it way more than my Mustang.
Hey Sofyan, Of all the small "cheap speed" cars that you have driven lately which one would you say is the closed to the original VW GTI? The new GTI is much heavier and expensive. The Fit looks that it might be in the same formula, especially if they had an SI or Turbo version of it, or maybe a 1.8 DOHV engine. What do you think. Your reviews are excellent. Very insightful and complete, but never too boring.
The current Fiesta ST might very well fit that bill, it's got the power the Fit lacks with that 6th gear for the interstate and it feels like a go-cart in the corners ;)
2theRedline Thanks. I was thinking the same. I wish VW would bring a Polo GTI to North America. The WRX is on my list, but now they just got rid of the hatchback...what are they thinking?
One of my family members have the exact same car. From my observation, the standard synthetic fabric actually stays looking newer than the leather option you have after heavy use.
I test drove almost the same car back in March of 2011 except that it was the sport automatic. The EPA ratings were the one thing that stopped me from buying it, I ended up buying a 2011 Civic. I really liked the Fit sport, but if I'm going to buy that small of a car I'd expect better numbers then that. The Civic being the larger car is actually rated higher. Almost 2 years later I'm regretting not going with the Fit, love the Civic but the Fit actually had more cargo room.
Bought a 12 " sport verisin with 5 spd last summer everything he said 100% correct coming from acura TL SH-AWD 6 spd i miss that power and SH-AWD and tech package . Dont miss the high gas prince or maintance

I dont think its cheaply made at all.
Some of the materials are "low grade" but thats to be expected from a utilitarian vehicle.
10 years later he has gone electric he now has a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E GT performance.
I mean when u review 100s of cars a year you really start to notice the little details in materials and build quality
Honda has never been a company on selling consumers with all new tech gadgets. They are a company that sells you on gas efficiency and durability.
Exactly. I buy honda for what's under the hood, not what tech is packed in.
And reliability.
True
and reliability. the 1st and 2nd gen fits are known for having extremely good reliability scores
And a a little bit of sportiness
I just love the Fit. I've an '09 Sport with just under 90k miles on it. So reliable, so fun to drive, great on fuel, tons of space.
I love my Fit. I bought it for its economy and flickability and because it reminds me of the older simple Hondas
2024, July 22nd, this statement still stands true!😊😊😊

I think you mean stock Halogen housing. Lots of people run HID in Stock projectors.
Whatever

I have a 2012 and I love it 😊
@@alanfitzgeraldsr2201I just got a 2013 fit sport, love it so much!

The Subie probably won't be as fun in the corners and it looks ugly, but I still have my old 5th gen Prelude SH for fun...
how much fuel?

As I get older I could care less about impressing people I care more about fun, efficiency and practicality
SeverdSeouL so you pay less and want more
We still have the Fit :)
Tks for the intro, i brought this GE 2nd hand auto...and im enjoying it.
I've put 45,000 miles on my Fit in the first year. No problems so far other than new tires and a little fender bender.
I wish I bought your car. It's so clean!!
NOO!! Don't put HIDs in stock headlights *facepalm*
Connor Learmonth why?
Did it on my 12 Fit sport, much better!!!
great review. i found a new 5 speed sport in my area and im seriously considering it now
Sofyan, I really enjoyed watching your review. It is very detailed and well informed. Thank you! Keep it up!
Thank you!!! I'm seriously considering a 2013 purchase next week. Although - an automatic.... Your video was very useful.
as far as fun to drive factor goes.... the auto takes all the spirit out of the car. You still get a great practical car with ENORMOUS INTERIOR VOLUME. if you can drive a manual, I highly recommend. ( it is what I have!)
I drove this car and an FR-S withing days of each other, and honestly the Fit was way more fun to drive.
+Jimmy Baggs How so?
Nice video, you have excellent taste on your personalization options.
Congrats on 1mil subs!
Great Video, nice transitions/pace/format. Great review. Thumbs up Sofyan et al. :D
it still looks brand new, good job man
I see NoVa places I frequent lol
I 66 for sure
What do you think of the Chevrolet Sonic with 1.4T engine? Have you driven it?
We've actually already filmed it on our channel, feel free to check it out :)
It is also a nice car but a 2 door really limits it's practically.
Just bought me a fit. I like it spacious and the mpg is great.
Right on! ...not luggage space for the ST Fiesta but plenty of passenger space...that's why I'm still watching for a Fit Si
One of my family members have the exact same car.
From my observation, the standard synthetic fabric actually stays looking newer than the leather option you have after heavy use.
Do you have another review of this car , I wonder how it stands now
Well said :) and thanks for subscribing!
I love this car- it's so cute. : )
great detailed review, as far as more power, aftermarket is very strong
