Peter Barkworth, a brilliant understated performance, a natural very gifted actor, always loved his work 😮 Thank you Peter ❤ Show the angels your acting skills
Just wonderful to see this gem again. Back in 1979 i worked at Castle Harris Canterbury and some of this was filmed at our Head Office, Tower Street, Dover and i remember their ex manager telling me about this at the time. Great to see our old Lorries again
This episode reminded me of the great actors we have had/still have in this country - Peter Barkworth, Patrick Barr, Hannah Gordon, Michael Kitchen etc etc.
Watched the final episode of this earlier. It consists of nine excellent episodes and one outstanding one. British drama at it's very best. No car chases, no punch-ups, no gratuitous sex. Just superb writing and acting. The two leads are always watchable in anything but never better than in this. It's on You Tube and if you need an escape from the current rubbish being served on telly at the moment, this will lift your soul. It was all I could do to suppress the urge to stand and applaud at the very end (following Peter Barkworth's heartfelt speech).
Used to travel to the channel islands on business four times a year from the 90's to the 2010s- used to play the excellent theme in the car on the way to the airport and remind myself how fortunate I was !
Thanks for that heads-up just started watching - very good. Can’t think why we missed it first time around but our tv provider may not have bought the series.
My uncle used date Hannah Gordon in the early 1960s. He was very good looking and always going to parties and meeting famous people. He also dated Mary Marquis, Scottish TV presenter and thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. He sadly died a couple of years ago.
great actors. banks have backed loans to development before basic person to person person like me cant get a one pound loan. but a multi national can get millions its all wrong.
Typical of the excruciatingly awful contemporary tv dramas we were treated to in the 1970s. Plodding, dull, stodgy, uninteresting script, 12+ hours of tedium over 3 months; what happens? A dull middle-aged merchant banker from London moves to Dover, takes over a high street bank (anyone know any bank managers who are remotely interesting?) and at the end of all this gloom.... moves back to London. No wonder the 1970s were so dreary and depressing🥱
@@paulgarrod1066 My IQ can't be measured 😉. I can't believe I wrote that, I loved the programme when it came out, sure I would never see it again. I simply don't understand- being rude is not me. Thanks for your comment, it called me out. Still puzzled as to where it came from. 🤔😘

Superb acting by Peter Barkworth. And if there's a more beautiful actress than Hannah Gordon I've yet to see her.

Careful of the beeping at the beginning!

Ridiculous having a middle age man playing a teenager ; Bizarre.
He was 21, playing 17/18.

watching just the first 5 minutes of this I understand why rural Japanese women live to be 100 and western white working men die at 60.
Still total crap.
And you IQ is what?
'your' even!
