I never got the vibe she "hated" him. She doesn't understand him and that infuriates her because she prides herself on her intelligence which to her is being able to understand and comprehend all things. She doesn't understand him and she envies his ability to feel in a way she can't. She's logical and passionate. He's emotional and passionate.
I guess it’s ironic in a certain way, since punk rockers are supposed to be misanthropic and uncaring, but they understand emotion more than most people do.

Actually coughing up blood is far less dramatic than we see on TV. If you coughed up blood like that you'd already be drowning in it or you cut your throat in a dramatic fashion.i coughed up blood once a nice big dark clot, I had pneumonia and nearly died
A lot of addicts are hated by others for ruining their life, throwing it away... For 'being a druggie'. Those people don't understand what it's like to be a slave to your own psyche, to be the passenger in your own body, just hitching a ride on the worst road-trip of your life. The only way to get some modicum of release, of peace and quiet, is to not feel anything at all. Jeremy Renner portrayed that really well. The drugs, the alcohol, the fighting... Those are the only things you won't regret. Because they're the release from everything else. Not everyone has the strength to stay afloat. The least we can do, is offer a hand to those still trying to swim.
My biggest problem with your comment is that we all understand because we all have our own addiction. The difference between an addict and a regular person is that an addict doesn’t try to control their addiction, everyone else does. I can’t control mine, I’ve tried and I always fail. Guess I’m not strong enough. So i do the one thing i can do; i take my addiction and i put it into something. Fighting, fucking, working out, whatever I can get my hands on. But don’t try to pretend everyone doesn’t struggle the same. We all do. Just like Renner’s character. It’s just some people are strong enough to fight it, and others are not.
@@mr.doctorcaptain1124It isn't always about "strength" (despite what many neurotypical and/or elderly people may believe). Neurodivergent people with certain executive function deficit disorders (ADHD, depression, etc.), often lack inhibition control, the ability to self-regulate their own emotions, and various other skills that most people assume were hard-wired into every human brain. But that's just not the case. Some people inherit EFD disorders from their parents. Others develop them as the result of a neurological condition (e.g., traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases like frontotemporal dementia, cerebrovascular disease, and a # of psychiatric and developmental disorders, including OCD). Regardless of how/why it occurs, some people are able to mask their struggles so much, you'd never guess they weren't normal (or you might even assume they're above average--maybe even a genus of some kind). Others struggle to the point it ends up ruining their lives (and negatively impacts their loved ones, too). But it takes a lot more than strength, willpower, self-discipline, etc. for many of those struggling individuals to overcome their executive dysfunctions. Some require medication, cognitive behavioral therapy, a strong social support system, and/or more--simply to function *similar* to how a neurotypical person can. Of course it would behoove such people to only take meds as prescribed by their healthcare providers... but many doctors didn't even bother studying mental/behavioral health until fairly recently (which is why I feel especially light while also feeling especially sad for older folks). It's not surprising that so many people resorted to self-medicating (using cigarettes, alcohol, soda, hard drugs, etc.) back when seeking professional help was perceived as "weak", "shameful", and/or "embarrassing". Now that most modern-day societies have more info and effective resources available, I hope more of the same kinds of people who have historically suffered will now be able to get the help they need.
