I have the model 51-L in 308. It’s a 1959 with a Husqvarna action made in Sweden. Yours is an FN. both have featherlight barrels made by High Standard and are just as good or better than pre 64 model 70’s
I have a J.C. Higgins model 50 in .30-06. It does well for me. I am pleased with it. There doesn't appear to be too much of a difference between the model 50 and the model 51.
In 1972 I bought a custom stocked model 51 and it is an incredible rifle. As mentioned, the barrels were made by High Standard and where chrome lined. Mine is very accurate, giving 1" with Remington 150gr CL and smaller groups when handloaded.
I have the 50.. in 270.. F/N.. made in Belgium.. it's shoots insane .. excellent made.. my view.. better then win 70..
Forgot to add that the JC Higgins scope is made by weaver
A budget rifle that isn't. Anything with an FN Mauser action is a hidden gem.
I have one with a genuine K98 action.

I think some actions were sourced from Finland alongside FN so maybe that's the difference?
@servicerifle16 I'm not sure. My rifle has FN on the side of the action.
@@Ncdude25 Does it have a stripper clip guide like a military Mauser? I heard some were built off military actions.
@@servicerifle16 It doesn't. It would be cool if it did.
I have one on a BRNO action. Czech I believe.
The scope that came with the Model 51 was made either by Tasco or Weaver.
How many dose it hold
5 rounds.
