Because him playing forward creates 2 massive problems. I’d rather leave the creation up to the forwards and have someone solid alongside rice in midfield. Defense wins games so even if Bellingham pops up with a few goals every now and then if we have Trent in midfield will Bellingham really outscore the opposition
Belligham is at his best when he picks up the ball and drives with it. He's also an aggressive tackler and hard worker - something that trent isn't. Belligham to play as an 8 and put palmer in the 10

caller is wrong about Trippier, he is a fantastic footballer in a possession team, and certainly good enough at the elite level. He can deliver daggers with the correct players in the team also. He is however a rb not a lb. It isn't his fault he is being asked to play on the left flank, almost alone, with nobody in front of him running in behind or showing. Gordon should play at lw. Foden in 10. Bellingham 8 floating all over into 10, he can cover the whole pitch he is a monster on the field.
He should probably leave Trips, or try someone like Gomez or Konsa at lb. Play like Pep/Arteta with the big powerful footballing cbs in the fullback positions. These players are good enough to control and pin teams in; Southgate, a criminal imposter

The problem is that Phil Foden was the best player in the PL last season he either played on the right with the freedom to go inside on his left foot or in the 8 / 10 role which he did when KDB was out for 4 months, he is the most gifted player we have got and played in midfield in the hole ( he is the best player in the world on the half turn and has been devastating) if he is dropped it will be a travesty ..these two clowns are making him a scapegoat when played out of position when other than Trippier everyone else played in their best positions

You can’t deny all the offensive work Bellingham has done this year to drop him in at #8 just to accommodate Foden. There is obviously nothing that Foden can to except shoot with his left that JB can’t do. JB is linking play all over the field. JB is playing defense. JB is the best player in the squad. Play to your strength and fill in around JB.
I'm sure foden would do much better at right wing. To me that is obvious. Play saka or eze left wing. Saka would swing crosses in all day and would be able to make the most of his pace with his strong foot in the outside

The 11 that started v Serbia is THE safest 11. Southgate to a tee. Foden should have been subbed just after HT. He could have put on AG or CP to sort out wide left. I also thought Saka faded as he always does even at club level. JB ok, but Eze on would have been great. Rest of team picks itself. The dependence on Shaw is a worrying. You invert Trent from LB and drop that donkey trippier that will be the game changer. Start bellingham alongside the stabilizer in Rice & either bring Palmer in the 10 which I would do or play Foden in the 10 & Eze out on that left hand side.
