Okay, I'm gonna be real. This is my first time watching this, and I actually spit out my drink from laughing at K. Rool and DK playing patty cake. I was NOT expecting that.
Wow so I never had enough patience for this game to complete it 100% but watching DK and K. Rool patty cake so would have been worth it back in the day.
1:40 foreshadows a sequel on the Gamecube. (originally called Project: Dolphin) I wonder if Cranky was holding auditions for who would be in that said sequel... Which leads me to wonder if old Rare really had one planned, or if this was all just a gag. I hope we find out in an interview someday!

I actually got this scene back in the day! Thanks for uploading this, because now I can finally show others what I was talking about all those years ago!
Daughter Speaking: This just proves that K.Rool and DK are actually friends, they just pretend like they're not just to make money on the game. Also, on 4:55 when Tiny said "Tiny" and Cranky (supposedly) said "NEXT" I misheard that and it sounded like "B****" So, that cracked me up WAY MORE. So, it sounded like it said, Tiny B-
Okay, after all these years I'm finally confirming for myself that the audition sequence was the hidden ending. I only played through this game once, in about 2002, and got 101%, so I was never quite sure, haha.
Actually, you *DON'T* need to get all the colored bananas to achieve 101%. You just need to collect enough to get each Banana Medal and enough to face each world boss. Everything else (Golden Bananas, Blueprints, Keys, Crowns, Fairies, and both Special Coins) needs to be collected
This reminds me of those YT videos that are just completely random AF, which is awesome, I love to see game devs like Rare to make things just for the hell of it like here lol
1:46 Auditions for: Project dolphin Project dolphin= The gamecube's development name. So it is implied here that they are auditioning for the next DK game on project dolphin (AKA gamecube). (Just thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone didn't catch this little easter egg) ;)
I beat K Rool, then realized I missed the Battle Crown in Hideout Helm, so I snatched that and found out that I had 101% after that so I just didn’t fight K Rool again and watched this
The 101% ending with the auditions never made any sense for me as an ending for getting all Golden Bananas. I think it works better if this was the startup introduction instead of the DK Rap. in my opinion the DK Rap should have been the 101% ending instead of the auditions.
Wow my theory was so different about why they always had the bad guys and the cameras always filming I thought they were test subjects that they didn’t they were in….
+Adam Ziakh You don't need all 3500 bananas. You only need the 40 banana medals which only require 75 bananas in each stage with each Kong (except Hideout Helm). You do NOT need all 500 bananas in each stage.
Adam Ziakh The bananas don't even count towards your percentage; only the banana medals do. Yes, you do need all 201 Golden Bananas, but that's not what I'm referring to. You only need 75 bananas per Kong per level (e.g. all 5 banana medals in each level) in order to get the maximum percentage. I'm not sure what you mean by "it keeps going after 101%". 101% is the maximum percentage you can achieve without exploiting the banana duplication glitch. Golden bananas, banana medals, banana fairies, battle crowns, boss keys, and the Nintendo/Rareware coins are the only collectibles in the game that actually count towards your percentage, not regular bananas.
Adam Ziakh I brought up the percentage because you said something about how it "keeps going" after 101%, so I thought you were implying that it's somehow possible to get higher than 101%. Yea, we are talking about the secret ending, and I just sent you a link showing a run where the player does not get all 3500 bananas and yet unlocks the secret ending. Your claim was that you need all 500 bananas in each level to unlock it, but clearly that is false.
Adam Ziakh I'm well aware of that. I didn't claim to know exactly how it worked. You claimed that getting all 3500 bananas was necessary, and I proved that it wasn't. It does seem that all percentage-based collectibles are necessary, but the bananas themselves are not.
K.Rool gets punch-drunk, K.Rool gets a raging hardon for Candy Kong, Funky Kong gives him a boot-ride outta here, K.Rool gets chased by K.Lumsy, K.Lumsy trips and accidentally grabs this Kremling King, everyone's happy, whatever.
Nah, in the 100% Ending, K. Rool wakes up after getting decked from a Primate Punch by Chunky, going for the kill but gets thrown off by Candy Kong. After that distraction works, Funky Kong shows up with his B.O.O.T Cannon, shooting K. Rool right in the crocky behind and that lands him in K. Lumsy's cage. And boy does K. Lumsy get ANNOYED. He punts the dude right outta both Crocodile Isle AND D.K. Isle, never to be seen again
I cant find the last battle crown on DK isles can anyone tell me where the other one is btw the only one I found was next to snides HQ dunno where the other is so someone with an answer please let me know
I know this is six years old but the last battle crown on DK Isles is in the lobby of Fungi Forest. On the ceiling, there's a floating mushroom that you have to have to shoot with the color of the Kong it corresponds to (Yellow for Donkey, Red for Diddy, Purple for Tiny, Blue for Lanky and Green for Chunky) after you do, it'll open up a Chunky pad in the wall to turn invisible. Activate the pad by pressing Z and the battle crown will show. You have to had learned Gorilla Gone from Crystal Caves first.
There's at least 3 in D.K. Isles alone - two in the Kong Island and one at Crocodile Isle. The rest are all in their respective levels found in various locations. I found the hardest one to be at Hideout Helm at the very top of the Blast-O-Matic - boy, did that one give me TROUBLE.
