If you're going to keep money or valuables in your carry on, you should always put it in the most difficult place to access, not the easiest. It should never be at the end pockets but in the middle of all your junk in the dead center of your back pack.
Who put their wallet in overhead bin. I’ve been traveling for years and my passport-purse with cameras in it. Stays on my lap the whole 12 plus hours flight. I don’t trust NO ONE
Yeah you are right! I filmed two videos and totally forgot I had my wallet in there. Bad mistake but I hope everyone who sees that will be more cautious after that
it is not that easy to keep it on your person unless you have a fanny pack you having some purse on you would make it even a more valuable target of course you could just hold it during a short flight and not use the bathroom no problem i also find fanny packs very ugly
So sorry hear your experience Sammy.😞 we never fly ever now with Aur Asia. At the beginning of COVID in 2020 they cancelled all flight and closed ALL air Asia terminals with no staff at all and left us stranded in Bali . We spent 5 hours trying to buy another flight …absolutely disgraceful and no ability to speak to a real person… hope you managed to get some of your money back 🤞🤞🤞 thanks for your videos… awesome info 😁🌸
I remember watching a TH-cam item on this, yes you are correct that if you are in front or exit you have to put in above, but you always, always make sure you put in the space ahead of you, that way you can keep eye out until once in the air you can retrieve. something I've always done.
The card was with my money in my wallet with 7 other cards it was the only card that was black maybe they thought it’s the most valuable. They strategically took out money but not all so I could miss it but I never use my wallet and know exactly what’s in there because I checked that I have enough money reserves for the trip in the lounge. The card I immediately realized because this one I use to withdraw money from the atm. I’m wondering how many they got this flight. And even tho it won’t help me but I will do a police report on the way back for the statistics and maybe to show a bigger picture
Samy, I’ve even seen vlogs ppl have had jewellery & cash stollen in buisness class. Was this a visa run? If possible, next time you do one. can you pls show ppl the process obtaining a new one & returning back to Vietnam same or next day etc. Good luck to you both with the upcoming wedding 💒
I was on a flight on Korean airlines when we stopped in Korea someone stole my back pack. The tray above my seat was full so I put it seven rows away from where I was sitting. It had everything in it, my passport, IDs, credit cards, money. I was freaking out. I ran off plain looking for my bag anyone was carrying luckily I saw an old Korean guy who stole it. I grabbed it and went back on plane to get my wife. I got very lucky.🍀
Dear Samy, I feel your frustration. I have a similar situation here is Danang/An Thuong, I booked a Sheraton 2 br Sea View from Dec18-Jan 15 for around $1,900; the host via A…a well know website), that host lady (Ruby H) did a bait and switch us to a different room which I didn’t agreed and ask for a cancellation, they still charged my CC and now the matter is dispute pending. Similar event: I went to a Seafood restaurant for lobster, the owner wants me to put a deposit of 2 million Dong + in order for her to buy it and cook for me; I honestly did put down 1 million and went back to my hotel. The next morning, I felt something is off, so I never went back to that seafood restaurant anymore - even for free food -disgusting way of milking money. I’ve been here in Danang for more than 14 days now and it rained non stop since, I end up catching a cold.😢. Not a happy holidays!
I'll be back in Danang after Tet, so hopefully there'll be warmer weather then..... That's terrible that you were robbed, and thats not the first time I have heard about people having valuables taken from the overhead lockers, it is quite common on short haul flights
@socialsamy So i watched the video now and quite didnt get. So you had your wallet in your backpack, which was in the compartment above you? So didnt you see someone opening this canopy? And if not, the only person who could have stolen it, would have been when someone put in their stuff after you? Maybe your stuff got stolen before going on the plane? Because stealing sth while on a plane sounds crazy to me, as you are stuck on the plane with your victim. Or did you go to the toilet, and after that it was gone?
@@sebsch4081 true it could be that but I boarded pretty much at the end. I went to the toilet and also edited a video. the overhead compartment was behind my back. I typed in robbed on air Asia on TikTok and I've seen this a lot there. like I said I flew a lot in my life this was the first time this happened. What would you do in this situation?
@socialsamy I thought it was the compartment right above your head, and you would surely notice if someone opens that one, right? But yeah, doesnt seem like you could have done anything, besides next time keeping your purse on you. Or have it in your locked suitcase. I mean id also not blame the staff too much, as what can they even do? Other then asking if anyone saw sth, but even if so, it could be just a person going through his own stuff, or even if its the thief, and he denies stealing anything, what can they do, right? Nothing at all i guess. At this point the best thing is to move forward and see it as learning money. lol
@socialsamy I always keep my wallet in my front jeans pocket with zip...and it's hard even for me to get wallet out. Either that or money bag with zip and padlock.
You keep anything like that on you! I’m sorry. I had caught someone going through my carryon bag..pretending they made a mistake!! POS..and worse you sat there the whole flight “fuming” I would have turned on leaving and addressed the plan. And of course NO-ONE bothered or cared to step up.Someone saw..sorry Sammy
A valuable lesson learnt for you and anyone watching this. I will certainly be more vigilant in the future after watching this. I will say however that it was unfair of you to point out the dude leaving quickly. You may have tainted an entirely decent man.
Wow, sorry to hear your misfortune. This is shocking that someone on the plane actually stealing stuff. Fanny pack is the way to go. I had someone stole my jacket once in the airport in the baggage pickup area! So crazy...
Wow yeah I heard now so often that they are actually organized criminals. Considering air Asia has a all you can fly deal it’s actually a big industry hopefully someone will stop that soon and get them locked up
I got robbed $100 at the Chase bank in California by the bank employee. I reported to the manager and asked to see the security video footage and the lady manager said the cameras couldn’t see clearly. They don’t allow customers to see the video.
last week, on air asia from da nang to kl, stewardess advised me to put carry-on in opposite side, overhead bin in front of me, so i could watch it. (couldn't keep bag with me in exit row.) i wonder if theft from overhead bins is becoming more common? never heard of it before. samy, glad you noticed the theft so quickly. by the way penang & kl were cloudy much of last 2 weeks. thanks for sharing your experience. it'll make me more careful.
It’s very common now so many friends sent me news article and videos air Asia had a all you can fly deal now those criminals plan and go on groups for very cheap. might be the whole row behind me involved
If you just lock your carry-on no one is going try and open it. If you can't lock it because it is a bag well then don't put anything in it you can't afford to lose.
The crews lack of understanding makes everything more frustrating. In some instances the plane is not allowed to disembark if there's theft involved but I think you need to talk with the captain and the airport police is involved on touchdown.
Prompted me to buy one of those fanny packs around your waist to keep passport and money in. I’m always wary on night flights about overhead lockers, but a short daytime flight ☹️
Regarding your wallet, incredible bad luck for you, so I feel for you. Not sure, however, what they could have done, maybe apart from asking everyone in the first 3-4 rows? Also, if you do not know how much money you had, maybe you spent it previously and the card is back home in DAD?
Sadly it’s not bad luck it’s happening every day and that’s why I think it’s important people to know. I received so many messages after with news article, videos and experiences that were the same. I don’t use this wallet in Da Nang. I also checked in the lounge my wallet so I know I had 50 euro and 100 usd bills, both were missing after the flight.
I like it right now in Da Nang. Been to the Philippines for a month and Thailand. It was sunny/hot the whole time I was there. I'm from the North US and don't do well when it's super hot. So now I welcome a cool sea breeze with some rain. It feels fresh and pleasant. 3 days here and enjoying so far. Also it looks like less tourists right now. Is there usually way more tourists compared to now when it gets more sunny?
Sorry to hear Da Nang Sammy - been done over myself many times in SEA - the only positive is - it won’t happen again - like all aspects of life you learn the hard way - trust no one 👊🏻👊🏻👌
I worked in inflight for many years. There are no cameras in the cabin of any airplane I have ever worked on. The spot you were looking at on the flight deck door is a viewing port so a pilot can see if it is safe to exit the flight deck to use the lav. Personally I would have asked if there were any English speaking passengers close by for help. After that I would have recognized my part about leaving money in carry ons and not on my person.
thiefs are especially on long overnight flights !! while everyone is sleeping they are more active. had this 2 times on a flight. there was a guy in our ilse walking up and down stopping at seat rows where people slept. he looked a them quite a long time and then started to search the seat bags and overhead compartments. we told the flight attendants and they informed the pilot. after landing he left as one of the first people on board and went right into the hands of the police. BTW Air Asia had some incidents like this this year. I would not only suspect passengers. Flight attendants can be involved as well becuase nobody cares if they open an compartment.
Samy, I'm so sorry to hear that. I like your positive attitude. Matthew Henry, after being robbed said: “Let me be thankful 1st because I was never robbed before; 2nd, although they took my purse, they did not take my life; 3rd, because although they took it all, it was not much; and 4th, because it was I who was robbed, not I who robbed.”
I always carry my money and credit cards in a wallet in my front pocket when traveling I am very paranoid and never put any valuables in check in . I have heard people being caught before stealing from over head luggage in Vietnam and it is common for baggage handlers to steal from luggage when they are under the plane . I don’t think any airlines have cameras on board to record the passengers you would think they would the planes cost 100 million a few security cameras shouldn’t break the budget . Realistically what can the flight attendants really do , strip search all the passengers ? I wouldn’t blame Air Asia it could have just as easily happened on Vietjet. You know being in Vietnam there are a lot of thieving people always have your guard up when around them .
Fortunately the thief didn't take your passport/IDs. That would have been a real pain. I always have a combination lock on my backpack compartment with valuables. This should help a bit unless a thief cuts the compartment through to take valuables. On the weather topic, if someone equally hates heat and rain (cool and cloudy weather is ok for as long its not raining) what months are ideal to enjoy Da Nang?
I didn’t pay but they wanted me to also check my carry on. This might be just another method to make more money so be aware personal item and carry on 7kg
Oh my god Samy I am so shocked to hear this news. I can’t believe this. How someone has the guts to go inside another persons bag and steal money. You took it very light and was pleasant. I would have been so upset and mad. The person who stole the money would have watched you put the cash and wallet in the backpack. That’s the only way someone can target your money and when you went to the bathroom they would have snatched it. Thank you again for sharing this very personal details. Followers of this channel will be aware of this and will take extra precautions. I am so surprised even the cabin crew ignored. I think it will be best to put a separate video and the airline name and the crew on this video and expose how bad the service was and to avoid if possible this airlines. I am so mad 😡 this happened to you. Samy we are with you. I hope you will get that sun ☀️ and enjoy your time in Thailand. God bless you
Thank you Paul. Yeah have to move on my video stopped actually before the flight but I thought I’m gonna add this to it since that was my reality on the trip and I really hope everyone who watches this will keep their wallet on him
I have heard of one international carrier assigning a flight attendant to watch passenger movements on long haul overnight flights between certain countries. Apparently your experience not that uncommon.
Why when you can take out the over weight part set it aside in a bag and if you are with someone they can hold it until you get weighed and then put it back in after they tag it. Then do the same for your companions carry on.
This makes my blood boil! People just p me off when stuff like that happens. It happen to my sister, we travelling up in USA. Someone grabbed the bag when Checking under seats. We found the bag and passport in the airport toilets, but $400 was gone. It was a lot back in the 90s😅 Now when we travel we padlock our backpacks and they are seriously chunky padlocks! See you in March!!
To look at this positively, you did not lose a huge amount and you had the chance to close your card before any attempt. I flew with AirAsia from Bangkok to chiang mai with extra carry on luggage cost. In the check-in and boarding nobody control it. I was the only idiot who pay in advance to avoid any issues.Everybody got through with more the one cabinl.. Next time i try viet..
Next time (hopefully it never happens again) you let the FA know that the police will be coming to talk to her. Also pilots can usually see straight into what is going on inside a cabin from the flight deck. There is no way there is not a recording somewhere.
I haven't carried a wallet for 10 plus years. Money folded in my front pocket, and any cards I have in one of those tiny card holder-type miniature wallets, in my front pocket as well. So nice...no lumpy wallet.
That’s the question could be a gang. Think about it they didn’t take the whole wallet or all money imagine how many they did on this day and people don’t realize. I realized cause my euro bills always peaked out the 50€ ones have a specific color
I heard that often now. Should have done. I’ll swing by the police on the way back just for the statistics maybe it’s a common thing on those flights or happened to more people on the same flight
THIS IS MY NIGHTMARE 😱 im flying with them from bangkok-da nang feb 16th. Was the only option, and theres thousands bad reviews about them... Money grabber and lots of delays? But thank you, Ima learn from your mistake and put everything on me 😅 Sad employees, sad service on this airline. Zero absolutely no help for you
Thai air Asia and this specific flight isn’t that bad usually on time. But this one they were also delayed. Just be aware on the 7 kg carry on and personal item rule that’s a real problem. And get a nice fanny pack 🙏
I just flew both vietjet and air Asia traveling through Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia these past two weeks. Vietjet not as good... no wifi but not sure what airline would confront any passengers without proof. Sorry this happened! Also if it helps, no one in Bangkok gives a sh*t about you (I know that's a very general statement) . The cab drivers want to rip you off and the airport doesn't have any customer service there , just the ticket counters. I loved vietnam and how everyone was so lovely and helpful!
That’s true with all cab driver and lots of people in the scam industry it’s really sad that this small loud minority gives that’s bad of a taste in one’s mouth. I’ve been to Thailand maybe 30 times or so and they are very kind, nice and honest. It’s just specific industries :(
I've been robbed on the train or a hostel . always keep checking my clothes are gone and 50 packets of rizla I'm fuckin angry.love from Tony in da nang.£5 a small pizza .fuck the market £1 a beer 50p in the shop or 37 p for a box
Been travelling to Thailand 24 years hilarious watching youtubers stating the same old obvious sh/t on all these channels with no idea how easy they have it in Thailand
Kann jedem mal passieren. Was mich investieren würde wie verdienst du eigentlich in Vietnam dein Geld zum leben. Kannst du darüber mal mehr erzählen oder ein Video machen. Das Thema Remote Arbeiten interessiert mich sehr.
So did they take your wallet ? I find it abit difficult that someone went through your belongings that are above you and only chose to take a card and a small amount of money. Wouldn’t they take all your money 🤷♂️
@8:19 Whenever I travel, I never put anything valuable in the compartments above the seats. All of my money, credit cards, and passport are in a Valcen Personal Pocket Bag that is strapped diagonally across my body and rests under my left arm, and that bad is also under a light zip-up jacket of some sort where no one else can see it. Those things never leave my body except when going through the X-ray machine at security. My camera or other valuables too big to fit in that bag under my arm are kept in a small backpack that I put under the seat in front of me where I can watch it at all times, and even if I fall asleep on a long flight, I can feel if someone tries to rifle through my backpack as my feet are right there as well. I'm quite careful, and thankfully, I've never had anything stolen while traveling.
Thieves are everywhere. Always secure your valuables on your person. Anyone can look through any bags on the overhead. Your loss isn't important enough to bother everyone on the plane.
I know it’s my fault not keeping my wallet on me but I hope this video will help you not going through the same…
Have a great week 🙏
The onboard robberies around SE Asia is all over the fb groups, valuables on you and bags locked

Exactly my last 30 days before my wedding hahah.
No I’m here to meet my good friends and our yearly Christmas party!
I have a very good friend here who helped me with starting my TH-cam we usually film lots of videos together and have our yearly Christmas party!
because Pattaya is not far away from Bangkok and for 3 days you can enjoy it there or meet with friends.
thiefs are especially on long overnight flights !! while everyone is sleeping they are more active. had this 2 times on a flight. there was a guy in our ilse walking up and down stopping at seat rows where people slept. he looked a them quite a long time and then started to search the seat bags and overhead compartments. we told the flight attendants and they informed the pilot. after landing he left as one of the first people on board and went right into the hands of the police. BTW Air Asia had some incidents like this this year. I would not only suspect passengers. Flight attendants can be involved as well becuase nobody cares if they open an compartment.
Interesting! Thanks for the info
Samy, I'm so sorry to hear that. I like your positive attitude.
Matthew Henry, after being robbed said:
“Let me be thankful 1st because I was never robbed before;
2nd, although they took my purse, they did not take my life;
3rd, because although they took it all, it was not much;
and 4th, because it was I who was robbed, not I who robbed.”
Thank you for this great comment 🙏
I also saw a similar youtube video reporting about Hong Kong and Chinese thief gangs organizing thefts on flights to and from Singapore.
I saw the same on TikTok Malaysia - Vietnam routes
I would say February March
Thanks. How about September? Does it start to rain?
@ yew it could rain but it’s also very hot still
You were traveling pretty light. Curious how much u had to pay for extra baggage?
I didn’t pay but they wanted me to also check my carry on. This might be just another method to make more money so be aware personal item and carry on 7kg
@ wow u were over 7kg and they didn’t charge u? That’s rare, at least u were lucky there
Oh my god Samy I am so shocked to hear this news.
I saw I lot on my short form videos about this. But would have never thought that would happen to me
Just pay additional fee for over weigh’s carry on, I paid less than $5😊
Why when you can take out the over weight part set it aside in a bag and if you are with someone they can hold it until you get weighed and then put it back in after they tag it. Then do the same for your companions carry on.
Maybe it was stolen at the airport or the lounge?
I wish then I would have a name and a face!
Please be safe coming here it’s sadly a very very common thing now
To look at this positively, you did not lose a huge amount and you had the chance to close your card before any attempt.
I flew with AirAsia from Bangkok to chiang mai with extra carry on luggage cost. In the check-in and boarding nobody control it. I was the only idiot who pay in advance to avoid any issues.Everybody got through with more the one cabinl.. Next time i try viet..
I love to walk for hours so I think cooler 20 degree weather would be nice but the constant rain not so much
You should always use a padlock on your bags when traveling.
Great advice - trust no one 👌👊🏻👊🏻👌
Next time (hopefully it never happens again) you let the FA know that the police will be coming to talk to her. Also pilots can usually see straight into what is going on inside a cabin from the flight deck. There is no way there is not a recording somewhere.
Won’t happen anymore but I will make sure people know 🙏 thank you
I haven't carried a wallet for 10 plus years. Money folded in my front pocket, and any cards I have in one of those tiny card holder-type miniature wallets, in my front pocket as well. So nice...no lumpy wallet.
I do the same just when I travel I take my wallet. But that’s gonna change now
We flew out of DAD airport at the same noon flight 2 weeks ago to DMK, checkin was a breeze, so one never knows.
Omg Samy nooooooooooooo!!!
Didn't you ask the people behind you if they remember seeing someone?
I did but majority didn’t speak English
Write to Asia Airlines and recommend putting on a camera. I feel very bad for your misfortune. Enjoy your trip, Samy.
Thank you 🙏 sadly it’s not a uncommon thing and the news are full of those incidents many friends sent me articles of huge thefts all around Asia
Damn! How did they accomplish this?
That’s the question could be a gang. Think about it they didn’t take the whole wallet or all money imagine how many they did on this day and people don’t realize. I realized cause my euro bills always peaked out the 50€ ones have a specific color
That air hostess body language is sus and saying the secretary camera was not working was a lie…. Should of complained to the captain of the plane 🙏
I heard that often now. Should have done. I’ll swing by the police on the way back just for the statistics maybe it’s a common thing on those flights or happened to more people on the same flight
Compared to Orlando where I am from this is actually not busy at all. I would welcome that any day.
It's fate that you met your future fiancée just before you were going to leave.
where was your wallet?
In my backpack
Well, if no one was willing to say anything about who they saw in the overhead, there isn't much that you can do in that situation.
Yeah learn from it, share my mistakes and move on
THIS IS MY NIGHTMARE 😱 im flying with them from bangkok-da nang feb 16th. Was the only option, and theres thousands bad reviews about them...
Money grabber and lots of delays?
But thank you, Ima learn from your mistake and put everything on me 😅
Sad employees, sad service on this airline. Zero absolutely no help for you
I’m flying Bangkok to Danang January 17
Thai air Asia and this specific flight isn’t that bad usually on time. But this one they were also delayed.
Just be aware on the 7 kg carry on and personal item rule that’s a real problem. And get a nice fanny pack 🙏
Yeah that was not very good service and not good luck on that day continue to have a good time on your trip to Thailand
Thank you 🙏

Air Asia is bad ass when it comes to weight of your luggage
I just flew both vietjet and air Asia traveling through Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia these past two weeks. Vietjet not as good... no wifi but not sure what airline would confront any passengers without proof. Sorry this happened! Also if it helps, no one in Bangkok gives a sh*t about you (I know that's a very general statement) . The cab drivers want to rip you off and the airport doesn't have any customer service there , just the ticket counters. I loved vietnam and how everyone was so lovely and helpful!
I agree I use to go to Thailand all the time now my wife and I go to Danang.
?
Sorry you lost your $$$ but rookie mistake for leaving valuables unattended. Especially cash.
Yup.
Can be Air Asia staff....that lady's behaviour was suspicious
So did they take your wallet ? I find it abit difficult that someone went through your belongings that are above you and only chose to take a card and a small amount of money. Wouldn’t they take all your money 🤷♂️
That’s the thing you won’t see it right away. It’s smart and a sign of a gang

thief on a plane - totally crazy!
The ones that attach to your belt and tucked inside your pants are way better.
Thieves are everywhere. Always secure your valuables on your person. Anyone can look through any bags on the overhead. Your loss isn't important enough to bother everyone on the plane.
What a broken society
Have you lost a lot of weight since your surgery. In this video you look much thinner. You look great. Sorry about the Scumbag thief.
Not really but I heard now often from subscriber I look thinner and taller in real. Still got 10kg to go
@ keep going you look marvelous.
@ thank you 🙏
that line is nothing.
Compared to other airports yes
