Interesting to come across this, I am in Dubai and looking at getting a CL500. They are a real bargain out here. I was also worried about the "only by gcc spec" comments so good to hear your thoughts on that. Shame that we don't get the ventilated seats though! Seem's you look after your cars though, nice job.
VERY REALISTIC, ANALYSIS FOR THIS KIND OF A CAR, IT DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS. - STILL GOOD VALUE IF YOU WANT THE TOP-OF-THE-TOP-OF-THE-LINE PILLARLESS COUPE
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I am a UK CL500 owner living in Ukraine. I think that you were a bit hard on the running costs because you included the cost of the car and then depreciated it to zero value over three years to come up with your cost of Aed1,000 per month. I would think that you could sell the car all day long for what you paid for it and that would reduce your actual costs over three years to Aed610 per month (plus any cost of money for the three years.) Not bad for a car that probably cost close to $100,000 when new! I keep thinking about changing my 8J x 18 rims for 8.5J on the front and 9J on the rear but I am worried about the offsets and whether the tyres would rub on the arches. I am sure it would look much better with 275 on the rear and 245 on the fronts though.
@@civilization95 Hi there. If you are asking about the CL500 I have in Ukraine it is a year 2000 car that I purchased in the UK (RHD) in 2012 for GBP5,250. Over the years it dropped to about GBP3,000 in value but now it is probably worth about GBP5,000 again as prices have risen recently (UK prices). It has 89,000 miles on it to date.
@@marktolner2922 Thank you for your detailed response. I am moving to Germany in 3 months and this is my dream car. I was looking at the price of this vehicle in Germany online but they are starting from 10000 euros at least. Now I am wondering if cars are expensive in Germany even when they are the one manufacturing it. Makes me sad...
@@civilization95 Wow. I had no idea they were so expensive in Europe. Good luck with finding one at a better price. My advice would be to try to find with with as many extras as you possibly can. I think that as time goes by good examples will only rise in price. They really are fantastic cars.
I'm in NYC and I have a 2006 cl500. Don't change the tires. You get more comfort and save money and better fuel economy. My car has the AMG 18 rims and the tires cost about $1200 to replace. Stick with the 17 rims.
I want to tell you how much I enjoyed UAE. I visited for business but was lucky to take a few days off to myself. GREAT country. Nice people! I have been looking at a 2002 CL500 here in the states. I am in love with it, but I am not a wealthy man! The suspension scares me! The whole car scares me! It looks to be an expensive car to own. Especially for a retired guy like me. But it is beautiful for sure! Thanks for doing this video. Do you still have the car? It is 2024 already! Take care!!
I appreciate your comment very much, thank you! The UAE is the safest and one of the nicest places to live in, for sure. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I still have the car and still use it as a daily. The car is mechanically and electrically very sound (engine and 5-speed transmission are bullet proof) Normal maintenance and replacement of regular stuff is required, but as long as you buy the best possible example you can find (facelift preferably cause they have less glitches) and prepare $10,000 for ABC work, you will enjoy it. Wonderful cars. Take care!
Hey, im a 18 year old and can’t afford a nice car like this either but i have one, the repairs aren’t too difficult if you’re mechanically inclined and parts aren’t too expensive and the only thing to look out for is the accumulators and if they are bad replace them ASAP with new ones or you’ll have lines bust like me! But if you don’t have mechanical know how, then yes this car can be very expensive MB doesn’t fool around on the price of these 90k MSRP beauties.
I also got one MB CL500 AMG Coupe 2003 from UK. It's fantastic car and I love it very much. I am comparing it with many new cars and I see that my CL500 AMG is still a piece of Art. A jewelry🤠🥳😎💫💥 I am willing to sell it in reasonable price 👌
Yes, it will. The drive train is one of the most reliable ones ever made, more than enough power (especially torque), but the abc will be an expensive affair. Good luck, and yes, find the cleanest example. It will be worth the extra bucks
I think those years late 90s early 2000s were the best Mercedes were actually over-engineered.They didn't worry about profit
Including the late ‘80 and throughout ‘90
beautiful cars, brought one in jan 21, loving it so far,. change them wheels to 19s, looks so much better.

I cannot agree with you more! Thought I’d put that into calculation, but again, who understands it like you do, understands it 😀
Sir for how much did you buy the car?

I just replaced all 4 shocks (refurbished them) for more than a reasonable price. It has 1 year warranty on them and let’s see how it fairs.

I believe we should keep our V8s since the industry is headed in a different direction. Glad you’re enjoying yours, too.
I got one too 02cl500..I rarely drive it it's a master piece...90000..miles
