23:34 "How big is this thing?"
Standard models for human scale things are about 1 inch tall, plus or minus a couple centimeters depending. Bigger things, like tanks or Knights have bigger models.
Painting them to such precision is a process that can very well take hours even for individual models. Putting together a full army is something that can very easily take months to finish. This quite naturally is a part of the process that can very easily drive people insane.
There are, of course, fully assembled and professionally painted that various people will sell. That, however, will break you financially instead of mentally. Even comparatively small groups of painted minis can easily go for a couple hundred dollars. A bigger army of fully painted minis can go for well over a thousand dollars. The most expensive I saw when checking the prices was a Dark Eldar army(about 3400-3600 points in game terms) going for nearly $4000.

That one Inquisitor fidus kryptman, which bricky flashed an image of his wiki page, was brought up because of how freely he used exterminatus. Specially during a Tyranid hive fleet invasion. Tyranids eat all life on planets. So kryptman figured starving the Tyranids out by okaying exterminatus on every planet in the fleets near by path ( i dont know the exact amount). He was later marked as a traitor to mankind cause even that was too much for the Imperium to tolerate..

If it makes you feel any better, some of the alien factions are less outright evil than the humans. Not to say they're good, the best they seem to get is "amoral."
The Eldar are a dying race and they (for the most part) respect each other's lives, and they don't really hate any of the other races, either. Except maybe the Orks and Necrons. They see humans and T'au as more like mice; sometimes a nuisance but they're not going to go out of their way to hurt them if they don't need to.

Space Marines: Humans implanted with special organs and the genetic material of one of the Primarchs (the Emperor's test tube sons).
Grey Knights: Bunch of secretive Space Marines with psychic powers who fight against Chaos.
Custodes: Superhumans made from scratch, the fastest, strongest, and all around best breed of super-soldiers in the Imperium. They number only 10,000 bc their creation is such a slow, costly process. They principly guard the Emperor's Palace on Terra (Earth). They are not Space Marines bc they're made differently and have a different outlook (Marines tend to be obsessed with glory and honour, the Custodes just do their jobs), but are broadly similar.

I like Warhammer 40k because the absolute horrific state of the galaxy makes for some great stories about perseverance in the face of adversity and hope for a better tomorrow. A lot of the factions, while not being the good guys because "there are no good guys in Warhammer 40k", sometimes operate in a gray area.
For example, one of my favourite characters, Ahzek Ahriman, is a guy trying to heal his brothers who were mutating into chaotic monsters. He tried to save them by casting a spell he believed would cure them of their curse but was wrong and in the end he turned most of his brothers to dust. They are now just souls haunting their armour. Mindless automata that are compelled to obey their masters. This isnt what he wanted, he wanted to save his brothers and now he is on a quest to fix what he has done to them.
This kind of story is a good example of the grimdark hope that i mentioned. The universe has fucked him over at every turn and the only thing keeping him going is the hope of saving his brothers, the catch to this is that he is willing to do anything to save them, this is his corruption, he is a person obsessed with gaining power in a bid to save the brothers that he killed, this obsession driving him to commit more and more obscene acts of evil as he casts away any sense of morality when it comes to ends justifying their means.
This man is by no means a good person, however the way the story paints his struggle against a universe that actively fights against him at every turn is very interesting in my opinion and his goal of saving his brothers would be admirable if not for the methods he employs to achieve that goal.

You might be more interested in watching some WH40k content that isn't just overall lore exposition.
While it's great in helping you understand some of the factions and themes of the universe, for someone that's unfamiliar with the setting, it can definitely mush toghether in a ball of confusion.
There's a sereies of videos called Helsreach, which is another 1 man team fan adaptation, that took an audiobook and tried to translate it into a movie. It's pretty well done (even though somewhat rushed in some parts), but it focuses on just a few characters and a specific event.
Being based on an actual book, it's much smaller in scale and much more character focused, so it might be more your style. Watching videos like Bricky is like reading The Silmarillion without having any idea of what LOTR even is.

Warhammer is incredibly dark (as you've noted), but for me personally the joy comes from tales of heroism. Things such as a normal human standing against chaos space marines or the overarching theme of just how the universe wants to completely destroy humanity but humanity still stands and refuses to go down with a whimper. I would say the grim nature of the setting provides an excellent backdrop for tales of good or excellent people and highlights their heroism more.

To answer your question about the war game rules at 4:32, there's a lotta dice involved, there are turns for each player, rounds for specific actions and abilities and there are a lot of specific rules for different factions and characters. This video should explain more of it, but it's a lengthy video. th-cam.com/video/r0GrQ2DIPyc/w-d-xo.html

The table top game is basically like dnd but with an army and an objective instead of doing whatever you want.
It’s the classic kinda strategy war game, you know, like moving squads and sometimes individual units in turn based combat around a board/field and making attacks with dice as hit and damage each turn.
It can be small and quick or it can be very large and tedious. But usually really cool to see with the really big matches.
Bricky actually joins a few of the table top war game channels on TH-cam for guest appearances.

When it comes to painting for the sake of table play, people will paint the basic troops in a simple manner, to get entire squads done quickly, and then, they may spend that same ammount of time painting just the 1 commander, or whater the centerpiece of the army is.

You'd be surprised at how passionate mini painters are, Hannah. The bit about painting the miniatures? Yeah. There's even a lot of people that don't give a rip about the lore of Warhammer and just like painting the cool plastic models.
Also, glad you gave 40k - and by extension, Bricky - a fair shake. I'll admit, I'm kinda sad you won't be seeing more on the orks (since they're in part 2 and basically the comedic relief of 40k), but it's totally understandable. Dice. Lots of dice. Fun stuff. The game itself is pretty alright, something that requires more patience than I have but still fun to watch others do.
And yeah, that's all the Imperium. I think what makes all of it so grim and moody is the fact that we only look at the major events in the timeline. You never see those peaceful days where nothing bad happens, because that isn't the story people want to see. Its like looking at a history timeline for something like the revolutionary war, we see the bullet points where things happen, not the weeks or month of calm in between those dots.

To play the game. You have models and set them up. You take turns fighting, charging and shooting. To fight, charge and shoot you roll dice per model.

I can only imagine there's a lot of cultural significance that gets lost in translation. WH40K is a British product and it's humor is British to demonstrate. There's a lot of 'keep a stiff upper lip' attitude in it. Americans, having such a war-based culture is able to latch on to the product readily. But we lack British humor, so we often fail to understand humans are the bad guys because humans are fascist.

    Lovely shirt!
    Nope, no jollies for Crowe.
Okay, as a fellow marshmallow, let me play devil's advocate for 40k, just a little, using our favorite other marshmallow. If you look at the lore for The Witcher, you'll notice that there isn't a country or king (queen) that is not corrupted to one degree or another. 40k isn't that different, it's just that the universe has had 35,000 more years to corrupt utterly. In other words, how surprising is it that in another 35k years, we've lost the plot? It is a lot to learn and remember, and it can get fiddly, but you don't have to play (well, you don't HAVE to play any of it, but) large scale or all factions, you can limit how big your slice of the universe is and work from there.
Now, about those figurines. yes, you are correct. Most are between two inches to about five inches. Some of the brushes I've used have been 2-3 hairs and I don't do work anywhere near as nice as the models he has in this video. There are people who specifically will paint your figurines for you if you want that much detail. Personally, I'd rather spend my time putting together the 10,000 piece Millennium Falcon Lego set, and let someone else go blind finding all the buttons and scripting all the talismans.

In answer to some stuff, the models are 28mm scale (as in, an average person is about 28mm tall, though many models are a little larger since they are supposed to be bigger people or monsters). They're so small that a lot people buy/make little handles to stick the miniatures on so they have something to hold while painting them. Bricky was 'embarrassed' in the video for having multiple armies (I'm working one 3 armies personally) as often like a box of ten guys might cost $45 USD, and since it's a game where you move entire armies around, an army can easily run into the hundreds, as well as taking a hundreds of hours assembling, gluing, customizing and painting them (think of model train enthusiasts, except you put two of them in a room and they roll dice to see which model train wins. Actually... hang on that sounds awesome, brb I need to start a kickstarter-). There are plenty of other miniature (fantasy or historical) army games out there that have far more reasonable prices (we're talking closer to 1 dollar per miniature), it's just for the longest time the most finely detailed models as well as the the biggest name in the industry (novels, board games, etc) is Warhammer. Though, as 3d printing and other tech improves (and with a new Games Workshop (people who make Warhammer) controversy every other week leading to increased calls to boycott), that might not be for forever.

Fidus Kryptman, the name that Bricky flashed up, is an Inquisitor who was heavily involved in the Tyrannic Wars, which were basically times the Tyranids invaded the galaxy (Tyranids are big, scary, bug monsters from who-knows-where coming into the galaxy to eat everything). By the time of the Third Tyrannic War, the Imperium learned the Tyranids' general strategy: Tyranid weapons and bioforms are all from biomass they consume from invading planets, so they can regain strength and numbers by consuming weaker planets before attacking a stronger one. In an attempt to slow the Tyranid advance, Inquisitor Kryptman would declare exterminatus on a planet as soon as it is invaded, which led to the largest genocide in Imperium history since the Horus Heresy as BILLIONS OF PEOPLE were melted into organic slurry, then burned into ash as the virus bombs dropped on the planet did their gruesome work (the Horus Heresy though, that was a LOT of genocides). Needless to say, Kryptman was something of a controversial fellow, as even the innocence-proves-nothing, defeat-the-threat-at-any-cost folks in the Imperium generally agreed that killing billions and erasing several planets worth of production capability is a tad too far.
