This guy's ancestor, Hans Gyllenhaal, died at the Battle of Helsingborg, in 1710, defending Sweden from the Danish invaders; this means, his forefather fought in the armies of Charles XII, which would make him a descendent of a true Carolean.
Well, not too weird. It happened like it did with all other emigrants - a branch of the family emigrated to the USA in the late 19th century. Jake, Maggie and all other now living Gyllenhaals in America are descendants of them.

It shifted into Haal once Nils Gunnerson Haal became a noble family. No one knows the actual origin of where they got Hahl or Haal from. So simply, Gyllenhaal just means “The Golden Hahl’s”

Well, haal is not hall. Double A usually means "Å", like Skarsgård/Skarsgaard. Hål means hole. Golden hole, kinda has a different ring to it.

1.3 million Swedes emigrated to the US in the 1800s and 1900s among them my grandfathers uncle I believe we have distant relatives in Boston
Lot of swedes I heard emigrated to Minnesota, thats where the biggest concetration of nordic people went.
