    The actor for Peter did such a good job in the reveal that his father sexually abused him and his friends....and his mom knew. I think that’s what he meant about his mom killing him. So sad! Not that it gets him off the hook or anything but it makes it easier to understand Peter.

    • @Cert1f1edM1dget
      @Cert1f1edM1dget 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      You make a great point but I also think he meant that his mom "killed" him because it was the mom that was asking for money. I took that as the reason he started stealing money from the family because his mom was blackmailing him unless he gave her money which obviously led to his death.

    • @giovannirafael5351
      @giovannirafael5351 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah he did a really good job because I both hated Peter and felt really bad for him. It was all very conflicting.

    I hate peter but do feel bad for what he went through as a kid. I HATE his mom! And his dad!
    I hate that peter killed rebecca and then at the last moment left her body and made her realize she was dying and felt it all alone. Feel so so bad for her.
    I think in his twisted way peter Loved Rebecca. But it was a toxic love and he was too selfish to love properly. Plus he probably never learned how to love correctly or what it means to actually love someone.
    Oliver jackson-cohens acting in this is incredible.
    I was so happy rebecca didn't take over flora and finally came to her senses.

      I feel bad for Peter's childhood but still his actions were wrong. He didn't deserve to go through what he went through but he still chose his path. And yes, Peter's mother deserves all the hate. And I don't think Peter loved Rebecca. Remember Dani's conversation with Jamie? Love is different from possession. Peter liked how Rebecca liked him. He liked how she made him feel, because the whole childhood he was mistreated and finally had some kind of affection. But he definitely didn't love her

      @@Lyn_orv yeah exactly. Some of us had nightmares of childhoods and didnt turn out that way. Myself included. So I definitely in no way think its an excuse, just feel bad for the child he was that went through it.
      Yeah true about the whole love vs posession convo. Kinda what meant. To him thats his twisted toxic version of love. And definitely in no way shape or form is it right or good for anyone. I just think there is some degree of love in his heart for her. Just the insanely wrong kind. Just like how danis ex loved her...... But it did seem more like he felt he kind of had the right to her. Like he had been friends with her since they were kids and kept asking her to marry him and when she finally said yeah he felt she was kind of his possession.

    I watched the season twice and never picked up on the extent of Peter’s story. The reason he stole from Henry in the first place was because his mother and father were blackmailing him; either he steals from Henry or they tell Henry about his past crimes of theft to get him fired. He then decided he would just take the money and Rebecca and flee to America to get away from his parents. I now have more sympathy for him, but I still think his character is a selfish asshole 🤣

  • @ZeroChaos76
    @ZeroChaos76 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I think Peter is such a great character because you can sympathize with him and still think he's an asshole. Oftentimes when writers want to humanize villains they make them transition from bad guys to good guys. Peter Quint is still clearly a villain at this point and still sympathetic.

    So my mom (who also watches the show.) and I were talking about how Peter pretty much violates Miles like his father did to him. OBVIOUSLY not in the same way as Peter was molested by his father and Miles wasn’t but neither of them really had a choice when they were kids. I was literally cussing out my TV though at Peter’s mom and asking the Lady of the Lake to come drag her and the dad away lol. I mean how could someone possibly do that to an innocent child? It's implied the "Dream Hopping" as you guessed, is a sorta "limbo" for your soul/consciousness, so the knocking that Quinn heard was like his own eternal "hell" in a sense, his "regret/painful" memory randomly to relive for eternity, and that seems to be the case for every ghost we are introduced to on the personal level (that haunts Bly at least)
    ....which means....that the episode of Mrs.Grose "Dream Hopping" was her cycling through her eternal "moments" she wishes she could of changed.
    It seems all the ghosts (we've seen so far) "dream hoppings" are memories and moments that took place right after a tragedy as some sort dealing with the aftermath that they never resolved when alive, which in turn has them then having *at least* one or two "good dreams" (more like memories) dangled on replay just for their eternal cycle of dispair to show/lead them to the most emotionally traumatic events that created their path to their demise put on repeat....which in turn:
    Traps their spirit to our realm in a never ending cycle of their actions (I.e. the lady on the lake, Quinn, etc.)
    And it seems that all the spirits who "freshly dead" (so like, within few years of death) seems to be allowed some form a free will I guess to figure how to "pass on" and any/all spirits that don't pass on eventually have their identity "fade" and become trapped & bound unable to "move/pass on" and don't rest in peace, and so, they become stuck which "living beings" (like you) perceive using the word "haunted"
    And the Uncle meeting his "Inner Demon" a.k.a dark side, I think is an actual *literal* manifestation of his dark & inner demons that literally took legit spiritual form just to torment him...as they say, *human emotions being the strongest feelings can creat/leave the strongest "presence"*
    And so when he finally grew the balls to go visit the house, his level of confidence and "feelings to go protect" may have been enough to of a start to self redemption on him eternally that it was enough to shrug of all his dark emotions that were so strong with their control over him that they *were* a literal spiritual being manifestation of his own demons/dark side.

    I just had a thought as to why Miles was easier to be manipulated by Peter compared to Flora & Rebecca. Miles still hasn't fully accepted that their parents are gone, he hasn't processed it the same way that Flora has (i.e, on episode 4 where she mentioned about feeling like she was dying but she was just "really, really sad"). It's a parallel to Peter and Rebecca's ghosts; Peter is stubborn and hasn't completely accepted that he is gone and has to move on while Rebecca seems to be content or at peace and accepting her new, sad reality.

    Another React thinks that Peter really loves Rebecca, because he wanted to spend an eternity with her. But I think Peter is just selfish, his life was so shitty, he could care about anybody else life!

    I think people are misunderstanding peter's behavior : He thought he could be with Rebecca and they both could control her body but after they fuse he realized she was the mind and he was the body and therefore could never be with her ever again. He loved her so much that the only way for him and her to be reunited again was to kill the body. It doesn't excuse what he did but at the moment he probably thought she would forgive him for what he did with time, and time is all they had left.
    However, I am not sure what to think of his decision to fuse with the kids and replace them. Imagine having to wait until everything that makes you you slips away. He had found an escape and took it. I would have probably done the same to be honest, although it is a selfish act.
    As for Rebecca, I personally think she is all the contrary, selfless as can be (although it didn't feel so at the beginning of the season): She was ready to sacrifice herself by not fusing with Flora when Peter told her to, and even worse, ready to possess Flora to save her from feeling herself drowning although Rebecca earlier mentioned how much of a terrible experience it had been to feel herself drowning.
    I think it comes down to who you are and what you have experienced. Peter's experience with his father made him a survivor, what other people would call a "j*rk".
    Rebecca might have a more relative way of thinking. Maybe she deems all life important and didn't consider that situation she was in "living" anymore.
