    To add more context onto Kenny’s Maxey-muscala story… the pick was originally traded for Markelle Fultz. It was 2020 OKC top 20 protected. That was the year with Chris Paul, OKC was projected to win 32 games, so everyone in Philly figured we wouldn’t get it and it’d convey to 2 future 2nds. Then in the last regular season game in the bubble Muscala hit 2 threes in the last couple minutes to beat the Heat by 1. At the end of the day, the nightmare of Markelle Fultz gave us Tyrese Maxey

      No it wasn't the Fultz trade, It was the Jerami Grant trade. Grant for Ilyasova and a protected 2020 first round pick.

      The Sixers ended up trading that pick from the jerami grant trade to Orlando for anzejs pasecniks. Then traded for it again for Fultz

    as someone who watched every single game last year of zion, Pierre and Mike are overexaggerating his lack of off ball ability . He would score 10-15 pts a game simply off of rolls/handoffs/dunker spot/ running in transition/ cutting EASILY. That was the whole infatuation with his scoring ability coming into the league. We knew he wouldn’t have to work that hard to score. The experiment of “point zion” was a testament to the skill he has; where we saw him score off of his own creation and develop as a passer. I do believe he will have to work on developing a mid range jumper, as we saw later in the season, he was beginning to incorporate that into his game. (fade over his right shoulder on the baseline). But saying zion isn’t a factor or isn’t capable of being off the ball is not true.
    He isn’t ben simmons lol. He will willingly catch it off the drop off and punch that shit.

    Tbf, it's not Tobias' fault that his contract is the way it is, he's a solid 18 to 20 point scorer and a solid defensive player as well. The sixers knew that when he gave him the contract, that, is their fault.

    • @BOnYTB
      @BOnYTB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. Some of the situations where people get overpaid, it’s an RFA situation like Otto Porter who I believe got a big offer sheet. Couple other guys like that. Also when the cap spike happened a lot of ppl got overpaid. Or it’s a situation where you don’t want the person to leave and there are ppl out there who’d max him. Like giving Butler that crazy max until he’s like 36 or whatever.
      But when Tobias was a free agent, who out there was about to give him CLOSEEE to 5/180? First off no team could give him 5yrs. I don’t remember what the max was that year. I think 5/180 was a little less than exact max. Let’s say a team could’ve given him like 4/130 or something. Who the hell was going to give Tobias 4/130? I don’t understand why PHI had to give him 5/180.
      Was he gonna turn down 5/150? Or 5/140? I HIGHLY doubt it. I don’t remember who had cap at the time but I’d bet a lot of money nobody was out there with the 4/130 for him, and even if they were, was he gonna leave for 4/130 instead of taking 5/150? I don’t think so.
      But ya I hate that ppl compare their actual player skill on their contract. If he’s not as good as his contract is paying then blame your organization. He hasn’t rly changed since they gave him that bag. He’s really the same player he’s always been. He’s just around more talent. So idk man.
      I get it as a fan (I’m not a PHI fan) that you hope a guy getting paid that much will live up to it. And if Tobias was just being lazy and clearly not working, or performing significantly worse than he was when he got paid, that’s different. But he’s really the same guy like I said. They knew who they were giving that bag to. Blame the organization. I believe that was before Morey, but it’s not Tobias’s fault. It wasn’t Kevin Love’s fault, (though he’s playing better now he’s obv not worth $30M) etc.
      Even Julius Randle. Most smart ppl thought that was an outlier season based on shooting luck. They didn’t give him 5/180 or something, but they could’ve waited a year and made him prove it that he could ball out again. They gave him 4yr $106.45M extension with a player option, with $10.65M in likely incentives. So 4/117, but 106.45M gtd. He won’t get all of the incentives, but let’s say he ends up with like like 4/110. That’s $27.5M/yr for 4yrs plus player option.
      So by giving him anywhere from like $27.5M/yr - 29.25M/yr a year before he’s a free agent, you’re trying to cut the risk that he’s an All-NBA guy again who is gonna get close to the max so like 35M/yr or something. He had ONE big year, and honestly it was debatable he should’ve made All-NBA anyway. Regardless of that, did they really think he went from being a mediocre 3P shooter his whole career to all of a sudden being a 40% 3P shooter in 25% of cap, and gets him for 5/150 instead of 5/175, then that’s a huge win for PHX. That $5M/yr adds up as a tax team, and he’s gonna have Book on the max, Mikal making a bunch, CP3 making a bunch, gonna eventually have to pay like Cam Johnson, etc. Ayton can still be set for life w 5/150, get to stay in an awesome position on a great team, etc.
      I went on a tangent but it’s all related. Unless dude is a NO BRAINER max, or you can get a big discount by paying them a year ahead of time, then wait the extra year, or if you have to make them go to RFA and see if they can get anything close to what you’re offering. A good example of a bad decision to not pay a guy was Dallas w/ Brunson. They could’ve paid him 4/56 or whatever this summer and he even said he would’ve taken it. He was clearly worth that money. Now he’s gonna be an UFA and he’s gonna command like 4/72-4/82. Their reasoning was they wanted to make sure they could trade him still. Stupid. What trade are you making with a dude who’s on like a $3M salary?
      So it goes both ways. But ya blame your front office for contracts, not the player. Front offices need more blame in general. Obviously star players have influence, but GMs and owners can always say no. They’re the ones pushing the buttons at the end of the day and calling transactions in to the league office. Not the players.

      @sincerelynotme3522 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BOnYTB Fully agree with your points. Tobias Harris is a very good player who is who he is and he's not really gonna change. I am a Philly fan but I'm realistic, I'm not gonna ask Tobias to average 23 or 24 points a game because he's never done that in his career. Last year Tobias was playing like an all star and this year Covid got him and he wasn't the same. Does he deserve to be criticized, yes, no one is above criticizism, however, asking Tobias to be something he isn't,to me, isn't far. Like John Wall hasn't done shit, no offense John Wall but its facts, and his contract is terrible because of injuries. Russ' contract is awful because he relied too much of athleticism, same with Blake Griffin. If you are going to give a player MAX or SUPERMAX money you gotta be sure. And if you choose to rule the dice then blame the front office when it goes wrong. Y'all out here looking at Tobias like Andrew Bynum and that just isn't the case. But like I said Tobias does deserve to be criticized to an extent, but no to the level everyone seems to want to.

    I don’t know if it’s just me but I just can’t take Zion above Cade or Edwards right now. Not only has he been extremely injured through the beginning of his career, but then we’re also hoping that he can add a tangible skill set to his game. I can definitely see how his game would be problematic in the playoffs with more half court offenses, and if any of the injuries he suffered even slightly diminish his athleticism, I could see it being a huge issue if he can’t reliably hit an outside jumper or be an above average playmaker when he is doubled. We saw how building a wall against Giannis basically took away his entire game when he was just an inside scorer; now think about what that could do to a guy who’s only 6’7

    • @olamideolanrewaju6581
      @olamideolanrewaju6581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My rebuttal to that is that do we know if Ant or Cade will ever be able to even reach the level Zion was last year. He was arguably a top 10 player. I think Zion will get healthy and may be injury prone throughout his career like an Embiid or AD. But modern medicine is so good that I think he will be able to make a full recovery.

      He's above average which makes him one of the better ones. If you're comparing him to good ones he's obviously not good but looking at all the players in the league, he's definitely better than half the other players.

    D'Angelo Russell is def better than deaaron fox I'm with p on this because I've never seen fox do what Russell does on a regular basis and he can't shoot as much either, less of a playmaker

    For the debate between JT and DBook, JT lead the Celtics to conference finals twice as the primary hall handler and Dbook needed CP3 to get to the finals.

    The 1 thing Miami doesn't have this year is a TRUE number 1. They are incredibly well built well balanced but they don't have that 1 take over, I'm about to go get 50 in back to back games (kd vs clips) player.

    P lowkey hating on the Sixers in bad faith 💀. Seth was good and added needed perimeter shooting. But, Sixers perimeter defending is literally bottom 10. A Rese, Seth, and Harden backcourt would be hell. You need some resemblance of defense.

      agreed! defense is key to winning a chip like we saw last year with Milwaukee. We 100% miss curry but couldn't be more happy that we held onto our young and defensive talent.

    The Heat are an offensive star or a two way superstar (hopefully Bam) away from from having a pre Durant GS type of Superteam. They lack a legitimate number one scorer every night. Herro and Bam both have the potential to be but haven’t shown consistency yet.
