- I decided to paint something that I've never painted before; a woven basket, filled with strawberries. It was quite difficult to figure out the pattern and I kind of just guessed for the rim haha but I hope you guys still enjoyed this tutorial. Though it's not the best, I don't think the result was too bad either. Happy painting everyone!

For your first try at painting a basket this certainly turned out amazing! I can see myself getting a little frustrated with trying to paint that basket but the way you break your steps down make it seem much more achievable. Thanks for a great tutorial!

When using a sketchbook do you use these pages for printing and making prints on archival water color paper and or note cards etc?
You can scan to make prints, but I'm not doing that currently :/

Hello nia👋 I'm a new subscriber and I'm in love with your watercolor painting. What brand of watercolor would you recommend to a beginner artist?
Hi! Welcome to the channel! I'd say anything within your budget, I started with koi, pentel and cotman :))
Is bleed proof white water soluble when dry? If it is can you recommend a high coverage waterproof white ink? I'm looking for something to white out some existing lines, intending to watercolor over the top. I had also considered watercolor ground because it would allow the watercolor to adhere, I was a bit concerned ink would repel the color, but unsure if it is opaque enough.
It is water soluable, but it's not that easy to move around either.. I'd have to scrub a little to do that.. I actually use bleed proof white to paint on before I add on colours on top too sometimes.

I think you did an amazing job considering you sketched it freehand and no pattern guide for the weave. That would be a lightpad job for me for sure.
I wanted to learn the pattern but boy it was confusing haha

It's not really my medium of choice for my channel :/ but I've been thinking of giving gouache another go.. no promises though ;)

Did you wait for your paint to dry every time when painting the basket, mine turned into a mush of colors cause they kept mixing together.
Not always. But when Im painting areas of detail I use a very light load on my brush.. generally I don't paint with puddles of paint so it dries really fast on paper.. by the time I reach the bottom of the pattern, the top has naturally settled and mostly dry... Hope this helps.
