Real talk. MegaMan has more good spin off series than like any property in the world. Mario, ig has some pretty strong spinoffs but very few things can compete. Battle Network. X. Zero + ZX. Legends. Starforce. All of them are at least decent with most of them being largely really good if not genre defining.
@ Mario has a lot of great spinoffs given Donkey Kong Country, Wario Land, ect count. I'd argue plenty of games in those series have often exceeded mainline Mario. As have some of the RPGs. Though I never thought the sports or party series surpassed the main series. Mega Man on the other hand does pretty much have an ever spin off series has its share of amazing titles yeah.
I freaking love the cool designs of all the Mega Man games. I think they hold up well today. Also, yeah, what the heck. I can't believe I'm saying it's the year 2025 now. As for Jack-in, I've heard so many jokes about it as an adult. lol We were so innocent. Here in Japan, it's just Plug-in, even when it went infrared wireless and no longer involving plugs. Thing is, the English localization couldn't have known that either at the time since the Advanced PET wasn't a thing until BN4 I believe, so good question why they localized it to Jack-in. lol
Yeah very true, also by the end some point out that they weren't even using a cord/cable they were just using Bluetooth lol, so im sure they'd have to have a new catchphrase if they did decide to localize it again
@Remyael Yeah, in Japanese, it's less jarring because it's English still. プラグイン. It just comes off more as Lan's catch phrase for sending MegaMan into the Net if that makes sense. Still, the days of wired connection is still a fascinating idea as in the anime I remember Lan could not operate MegaMan manually or send him chip data without a direct connection. When he disconnects, he's fully autonomous as an AI without help. Weird that he can still get video feed of him despite that lack of connection come to think of it. Lol
Anime magic lol, like we can't question it too much if we do we'd have to question why a 10~14 year old kid keeps having to save the world on a yearly basis
@@Remyael Maybe because the first two PETs were unable to send Chip data wirelessly so the cables were needed until they cracked the tech with the wireless adapter, which was consequently in-built for the newer PETs?
Just a few days ago I was just thinking about Megaman Battle Network, checking out if there's a new one. In middle school, my friend was the one who introduced me to Megaman Battle Network, he even let me borrow his Megaman Battle Network 6 for me to play on the GBA. I remember how hard it was to beat the Cyber Beast Falza and it was so satisfying when I finally beat it! MMBN will always be one of my favorite games and the music are so memorable!
"felt like another beast" was that an intentional or unintenional pun for BEASTS? It was a season never dubbed. if i remember right, the english dub stopped halfway though access (the season where lan and saito can fuse and fight in the real world). to note: jack in was a localization. "puragu iin" (romanize) or "plug in" was what was said in the original Japanese.
Fun fact I never played the Battle Network series until I was a adult but it's funny because I used to watch the Battle Network anime Mega Man NT Warrior all the time as a kid it was even funnier is that I used to always see toys for the anime I probably seen the toys and merchandise more than I seen the games for this
Oversaturation was the biggest issue. There was as many as 4 or 5 Megaman games a year at one point. As a fan from the NES, I got sick of the needless multiple versions and there was just too much. Then Inafune went and pissed off corporate.
Yeah Pokemon did something to the market/industry when companies realize they could release practically the same game with slightly different changes and call them different versions
Also the fact Kaji designed Armarouge (Pokemon Scarlet) and its Bass (the instrument and not the fish) (going along with the music references at the time. Rock Roll Blues Bass etc)
@@Omega_Man_X I have been playing MegaMan for 10 years. Awesome video bro 👏🔥 BattleNetwork & Megaman Zero were my favorite games in middle school and highschool. Just love the character designs. Currently trying to watch the NT Warrior series, never got the chance to watch all the episodes or even in order lol.
I adore the MMBN series. MMBN3 is my fave GBA game of all time, which says a lot considering I was a hardcore Fire Emblem fan and we got three FE games on GBA. I think the "Jack in!" catchphrase would go away without even having to worry about it, because as the series progressed, the physical cord jack went away and everything became wireless--just like our modern tech. So the phrase would be more like "MegaMan.EXE, transmit! Execute!"
Battle Network collection sold better than all their collections COMBINED, and yet we only hear crickets from Capcom. But anyone playing that gamecube game can attest to how janky that game was- the platforming was awful. It was the "B Team" that made it for sure.
B-team 10000%, but we get the switch 2 this year (maybe) and Capcom just brought back okami after a long time soooo maybe just maybe we get a new game on the switch 2 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Fantastic video. The Anime was how I was introduced to the games too. Then I go to GameStop and on the shelves I see "Mega Man Battle Network" on the shelf. After that, the newest Battle Network were an easy purchase each year. Similarly, the Star Force Anime was how I learned there was a Battle Network successor.
@@Remyael very cool, unreasonably hard. it punished you consistently for not being good at it, and the first game could softlock you into a fight that you really would not be ready for
Yeah my bad I remembered it being on 4kids and didn't bother looking it up, other people have pointed it out gotta fact check more and not let my memories from when I was a kid write the script lol
Yeah the MegaMan anime that we got in the west aired 2 seasons that had cast of characters that appeared in MMBN 1-4. The other seasons can only be watched subbed and the story of those seasons and the cast of characters roles that appeared in MMBN 3-6 btw are VERY different compared to the games.
Lol bought Chip Challenge couple years back just always liked its twist on the game. Hub is god tier in BN3 with BugStop and BusterMax.Really gotta get back to playing the collection. MMBN is what I consider the greatest sub series in the Mega Man IP.
