There are many guitarists that I have respect for, like Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and the Beatles. Jimi Hendrix was the guitarist that made me drop my jaw and asked, "How the hell did he do that?" I can say that RORY IS THE ONLY GUITARIST WHOSE PLAYING BROUGHT ME TO TEARS and then I said, "THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT!" You feel the passion in every note he plays. This is the song that brought me to tears. RORY DID IT THE RIGHT WAY! And I will NEVER, EVER FORGET THAT FEELING.

A million miles away is my favourite
One in a billion of years. His name is Rory. Rory.
As others have said, Rory was one of the best. So skilled but humble in his playing. As in, his playing was clean and true. He didn't need fuzz and effects. Reminds me of Mark Knopflers style. You can hear every note, and every word he sings. That is class playing. And everybody loved Rory for that. I also believe it was his Irish musical heritage that formed his style. Every pub band in Ireland playing reels and jigs, they are all so precise. Rory took this heritage on the road and played about 400 hundred gigs across Europe. And left a lasting impression on every single person he played to. X
The more I listen to Rory the more respect l have for him as a lyricist never mind a guitarist, of which there are not enough superlatives in the dictionary. Genius, magician, virtuoso, legend.....but most of all,a lovely humble human being,who is sadly missed.RIP my friend you are in our hearts evermore☘

I think I was born 10 years late. Loved Rory in my teens. Really joy him now.
Rory never made a bad song . This one is perhaps my favorite from Photo Finish .Even in the late 70's , when Rory's music turned a bit more rock than blues , he could still create marvellous , poetical bluesy ballads . Let's call radios to play Rory more often !

Rory never wanted to be the biggest in rock and blues he preferred more intimate gig's, very humble guy and one of the all time greats.
If I had received a letter from Rory pouring out feelings in any coloured envelope, I would have caught the first train to where ever he was!

Sure, I'm a big Rory Gallagher fan. I first saw him in concert at SMU in Dallas. He was the opening act for Rod Stewart and Faces. A few years later, I saw him two different times playing a small club in Houston, Texas. That's the way to see and hear a 3 piece band--in a small club! Rory Gallagher, a R&R guitar legend!

One of my top ten Rory songs..Named one of my kids after him. Wish though Donal would not have re- mixed some of the albums.THE ORIGINALS WERE JUST FINE! He never got his due In America which is typical. I felt his music and lyrics like no other.I cried like a babe when I learned of his passing.Top 2-3 guitarist ever if not the best. I grow tired of hearing how great Clapton is. Bunch of bravo sierra! Tommy Bolin,Rory and my favorite right winger, the nuge any day over Mr.Slowhand, you look lovely tonight! REALLY?!

This might be my favorite Rory song. It's perfect in every way, melody, lyrics, vocal and guitar. The guitar evokes a very wistful feeling of melancholy in me. And it makes me wonder what it meant to Rory when he wrote it.
