According to Wikipedia, the group started as a rock band *Lunacy.* Then they changed to *Luna Sea* & became a punk rock band.
If you remember when Nemophila's Haraguchi-san (Bassist) raised her mike stand after she was done doing her vocal part. She did it as a tribute to Luna Sea's bassist.

This video was recorded at The Nippon Budokan. And yes. That's in Tokyo. And yes. It's a nice venue. Was in Japan in the early 1980's. Think I saw Styx there. Just think. I was in Japan (1981-85) when J-Metal was conceived. It exploded when I left.

Makes you realise how much superb music we missed in the west back in the 80s and 90s coming out of Japan Luna Sea would have been huge world wide if there had been a YT with reactors back then .And the mike stand came back down with snow on it LOL .Nemo are bringing attention to great bands people never new existed.

Huge fan of Luna Sea! They have such a wide arrange of styles over their long career, and all of it has been great. Moon is my absolute favourite.

Before Jill of Unlucky Morpheus Sugizo of Luna Sea was probably the most famous violinist in Japanese rock, unfortunately he only plays on limited songs.
If you are interested in another version of Kurenai there is a good one with Yoshiki and Siguizo doing a piano and violin intro.

I'm a huge fan of Luna Sea and the early visual kei movement. I used to spend my early paychecks in Little Tokyo Los Angeles gobbling up posters and anything related.

It’s an amazing song and amazing band, wish you could do more of their stuff! (You should definitely react to their earlier stuff like nightmare). And yes budokan is in Tokyo ;)

Great reaction! My youth were filled with Luna sea and X Japan basically. You can check out more classic songs of Luna Sea, I recommend End of sorrow, Desire, Mother, and they made some new songs too.

Welcome to Luna Sea…they and X Japan were a big part of my late 90ies (when I finally got money for those imports)…you could do a double bill of the Nemophila X Japan cover Kurenai (not sure if you did any of it already)…first do the cover and then the original in the last live version. Kurenai is one of the signature songs of X Japan, it was their first single after signing with a maijor label in the late 80s.

Kurenai was the first X Japan video I reacted to. I've done 3 and have another on the way. Check out my X Japan playlist. The version I did was from the Last Live show.

I haven't checked the original before. I now see what Harguchi was trying to replicate when she picked up her mic stand over her head. He does have that Billy Idol vocal in that one section you mentioned. They are considered to be one of the early visual kei stylized rock bands according to Wiki. For some reason I thought they were Korean. I guess not.

So glad you reacted to this, it has given me a greater appreciation for what Nemophila did! Mayu's vocals were on point with his. I like Haraguchi-san's vocals better but have to clearly give the mic stand throw to this bass player, he launched that thing far, I thought it was going to take out the drummer! I like this song by Luna Sea and yes, singer does remind me of Billy Idol. Thank you for reacting to this song.

Good song, but I have to say that I liked Nemophila's version better. Would love to see Nemophila do this live.
