    I feel like some parents don’t grasp that just because your child has a hard time understanding and grasping certain things, doesn’t mean you just don’t teach them at all. You just go about it in a different way.

    I too have an autistic younger brother. You guys may not think that a 14 year old can cause significant damage, but Jesus Christ yes they CAN. From holes in the walls, to broken doors and hands, it's unwise to underestimate the strength of a teenage boy with anger issues, defiance disorder, and autism spectrum.

      Hell, don't even underestimate the strength of a spoiled little kid in general throwing a tantrum! Lots of parents, especially awful and/or inexperienced ones, don't seem to realize that little kids can cause serious harm to the people and objects around them. They don't have the knowledge nor ability to really control how much damage they do.

    As someone whos autistic (high functioning), one thing that happens with me (and from what i know it happens to others as well) is the issue with understanding fairness, as in, in my head as a kid i thought if someone has smth, it makes sense that i had it as well, and not being able to have it led to frustration.
    Maybe that plays a part on the autistic brother's tantrums and behaviour. But the parents are fucking up by not parenting him

    • @LittleParody
      @LittleParody 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Yeah, the parents are just making it worse. Number 1 worst mistake with raising a kid, especially an neurodivergent one: Giving them everything they want, letting them do whatever they want, and not teaching them the concept of "no".
      Not only will it ruin the child's life because they won't understand that they can't just get whatever they want in the real world, but it will eventually ruin the parents' life when the kid starts wanting more expensive stuff (like cars, fancy computers and game consoles, etc), if they aren't filthy rich. And since that child will also believe they can do whatever they want without consequences, it will probably lead to them becoming some form of criminal as they get older. Or in the worst case scenario, getting themself killed because they don't understand that bad actions have bad consequences.

    I grew up most of my life with high functioning undiagnosed autism. I was parented and treated just like everyone else. And to be honest, I’m glad because it taught me a lot about the real world and after seeing this I’m even more grateful my parents never coddled me or gave me a pass just because I was autistic. Also, some of the boys behaviors aren’t something people with autism do, it’s just something kids with poor parenting do.

    • @hail0947
      @hail0947 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also had the same experience and I 100% agree. Providing support for your kids is one thing, spoiling is another. You don't just give in to any whim a child wants just because they want it. Autistic or not. The correct way to raise a child with high-functioning autism is to treat them like any other kid, just more patience, extra support, and explaining a lot of things in different more detailed ways than you would have to with a neurotypical child.

    My little brother's got autism, but he's still taught what boundaries are, and bad behaviors are met with time outs. Just because a kid has autism doesn't mean you have to coddle them, it just means you have to raise them differently and use different parenting methods. Spoiling a kid who already has a hard time learning right from wrong at a young age will only make them harder to handle in the future.

      @@LittleParody The problem with parents who don't take care of their kids with learning disabilities is that they don't want to put in the extra effort it will take to try and understand them.
      It took a long time of me consistently going to visit my youngest brother to figure out what a lot of what he said meant, but when I figured it out taking care of him wasn't all that different from taking care of a kid without those disabilities.

    I am an autistic brother to my younger sister (although my autism is more low functioning) and a decent amount of what I own I have found, repaired or got in return for doing something for my parents or someone else. Another thing worth noting is that I'd get stuff for repairing the stuff I own through the means of Christmas, birthdays or again doing something good (can't be a little thing though, has to be pretty big). Basically, a lot of what I own is very special to me down to my desk that I built overnight after lying to my parents claiming I'd go to sleep almost everything I own has a story behind it (I can exclude my phone here, I'm not protective over it).
    So one day we're in a hotel and I have just gotten Minecraft up and running on my old laptop (2011 MacBook Pro, was an originally dead laptop I got from one of our friends and have now fixed and now upgraded. It is worth lots to me and I will protect it loads and bring it basically everywhere I go) and I had a wireless mouse hooked up to it (it was an old one my mum owned, and I found the receiver for it when clearing out our old house). My little sister wants to play Minecraft on it as she "has wanted to play Minecraft on a computer her whole life" and here I am sitting in our small hotel room playing Minecraft. So she starts to ask to play on it and I tell her no as I am really protective over my laptop and don't want to let her use it. My parents eventually force me off of it to let her have a go and I feel pretty pissed. This is one incident where she has wanted to use or borrow one of my things and I have been annoyed over it. There was a time where I was forced to give my iPod to her so she could listen to a singular song she liked and when she was younger she even broke a set of my headphones because I wouldn't let her listen to a song she liked. My little sister is cool and all, but personally I do not like sharing a lot of my things. What makes it even more annoying is my parents always pull the "you're only being mean to her because she's your little sister" card, and it just annoys me even more and makes me want to not share even more. I'd try to be more defensive, but as I'm so attached to these things I've repaired, configured and set up myself it's easy for my parents to just threaten taking one of them away. So I find it pretty interesting when it goes in reverse to what I experience.
    Oh, my family also constantly makes jokes about my hobbies in technology, cars and audio which I find very annoying.

    Kids with any problems get extra spoiled. My younger brother was sick only when he was a baby. Now he's literally the most narcissistic junkie ever because being sick for like a year meant my mom needed to treat him like a prince for the rest of his life. • @PoisonEngene
    @PoisonEngene 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have two siblings. An older sister and a younger brother. They both have autism. My mother never coddled them like that, she's way too sensible for that. But my grandmother on my mom's side coddled the crap out of my sister and somewhat coddled my brother.
    So I'm in a college medical program to get a job that I didn't want for myself because I'm going to responsible for my siblings once my mother passes. Mom doesn't want that for me, but I'm not going to abandon anybody. I'll do my dream job on the side. I also need good money quickly because I'm slowly losing my ability to walk due to a leg deformity.
    Anything I have or achieve makes my sister jealous. If I buy myself a new anything, she makes offhand comments about how she wishes she had one too. If I get good grades, she asks mom to talk about her grades when she was in school. When I had a boyfriend, she whined and yelled about how she's going to find her Prince Charming (without leaving the house or meeting anybody new?) OR she tried to take over my dates and relationship. If I'm working on my dream job, a writer, suddenly SHE'S a writer and is wayyy better than me and her stories as wayyy too similarly themed to mine. I can't have ANYTHING without her complaining or being jealous. My mom shuts her down everytime, but it still hurts me. I've given up my entire future for her and my brother, and she's trying to take more and more? I've given up marriage and children and moving out of the house. I've given up focusing on being a writer and traveling while I can still walk for HER.
    But it's fine. After she gets shut down, I can vibe. Sometimes she needs to be told to stop more than once, but I know that's just how autism is, needing to be taught to think outside yourself multiple times. It's a hard disorder to combat. She lives a hard life, even if it doesn't seem like it. Lord knows I've seen some selfish behavior from them, but with tons and tons of help they'll be a bit better. My brother even brought me my pain cream when my ankle slipped out of place the other day. It moved me to tears.

    The parents that enabled their younger child in the second half of the video only have themselves to blame. It is good they finally realized the problem and started making more of a effort to fix it later but they acted way to late. Sounds like this family wasn't filthy rich but they certainly made enough money to be well off enough to fix most of their problems by throwing money at it. Although I believe the party where he got a PS4 was only done for selfish reasons so his parents could try to save some of their horrible reputation I do have to give them some credit. At the very least they knew his favorite restaurant, got him a expensive game console he wanted, and actually had to get off their butts and do their job as parents for once keeping a eye on the younger brother. That party could have easily cost a thousand dollars or possibly even more. Sad thing is these parents were cowards with no backbone at all. They let everyone else around them control them and took out their own failures and embarrassments on the older son. Friends and Family controlled them cause they were called out on their bad parenting and these parents always caved paying out the butt to fix their mistake and they let their younger son control them for years with his bad behavior. How can you expect to be a good parent and prepare a youth for becoming a responsible and well adjusted adult one day if you are incapable of putting your foot down and actually taking control of your own life. They were so cowardice they couldn't even stand behind their own bad decisions and just accepted defeat from anyone and everyone in their life except their older son who was unfortunately the outlet for their failures as parents.

    9:46 IIRC, Jonesing is a slang word that originated from drug culture to describe an addict who desperately wants another taste of their drug of choice. From my understanding, it references a “Jones Street” somewhere, which at the time of coining was a place known as somewhere you’d commonly see an addict trying to get a fix.
    I think it’s evolved into just slang for desperately wanting something that you can’t easily obtain.

    No dudes, "Jonesing" is like having a craving or a NEED for something. It was used to describe the need for drugs, like when you're addicted to something, and people just started using it for anything that they really 'want' to have, like wanting to have the new game system so you can finally play some game that you currently cannot.

    Having an autistic child doesnt mean giving in and giving them everything they want while allowing your other kid/s to be made miserable. It means more work for the PARENTS who are meant to work with and help that child. The kid cant help being neurodivergent and he cant help how his parents have raised him, but now hes going to have such a hard time and unrealistic views and ideas of how things should be thanks to those parents. And the older brother with always remember and will probably carry resentment towards them for that favoritism.

    This story is not about entitled parent but parenting gone wrong .
    Special kid require special attention.
    My brother is also bit special and he was never expected to perform well in school.
    I too support it.
    Kid with mental health issues should be handled differently and with much more care.
    But harsh reality that kid would also have to live even after parent that kid is not ready for future.
    The parents were too gentle on him and spoiled him ( generally ur supposed to be soft with autistic kid but enforcing some discipline is also required, I have cousin who is autistic she is only child and she is unable to do basic things too.
    Autistic kid need a lot of care and they are very hyper kid. They are annoying .
    With my experience I don't think parents are at fault.

    Jonsing is pretty much begging or longing for something. Noun a jonser is a person living on the street. Use a lot in the Bahamas

    My mom has somehow got everyone in our family to basically forget I exist by having them only contact her to know about me and my children. Lol haven't heard from a single person personally. Just through her. They call my mom to talk to my children. Tell me that's not messed up.

    I just wanted to let u know, that is NOT what jonesing means. It's actually a drug/addiction term. IE, I'm jonesing for a cigarette right now..
    It means that's what they're craving obsessively.

    Me whos 23 and never got a cake with my name on it nor did i ever complained about it.
    The parents are stupid over all the kid didnt do anything wroung.
    And i understand how the older son feel since im the middle son but he should put that much pressure at his family insted go beat your brother if you feel like your family doesnt like you like him so at least your family can see what they did and you will make your spoiled brother less spouled by beating him thats what i did.
    Yes i didnt get grounded insted i got beat up like hell but its deffenly worth it to punch your brother.
