Sumas was a lake in the 1920s. They drained the lake to take advantage of the rich fertile soils, but it was a disaster waiting to happen.

This happens more frequently (building in drained lakes or flood zones) but is never discussed. And watch how many people do not even acknowledge what you are sharing here. It amazes me .

Trudeau spent all that moneys to secure enough Covid-19 vaccines for every Canadian to take the jabs 8x. That’s why he pushes so hard to get everyone vaccinated.ie” vaccine mandate”. If he still can’t get 100% + Canadians vaccinated and those vaccines come close to expiry date, he will simply donate them to 3rd world country through Covax program, hence making a good name for himself. 😡😡😡. So dream on you.😂🤣🤪😝

The Sumas Lake, whose original name is Semá:th Lake, was drained in the 1920s to create and irrigate new farmland in the Fraser Valley. The Sumas Prairie then became home to about 3,000 people, while Sumas First Nation members were pushed onto a reserve.

Man that was my exact comment as well. That watershed has ALWAYS been coming from the states. I could rant on outdated infrastructure and lack of maintenance programs like others have mentioned like dredging ditches, clearing culverts and such. They could have also added more culverts, done more technical inspections on infrastructure. I'm really curious to see if there will be a formal investigation into human component and technical failures.

Meteorological software contains massive amounts of data. Modeling programs show rainfall at different global conditions including temperature ... which has increased every year this decade. Then a percentage can be assigned. A massive rain flood in my state (USA) was 78% attributed to climate change.

Loved seeing this comment amongst all the idiotic "prayers" and "sympathy" for the animals who need to be rescued so they can just be murdered later on and money can be made. Those 25,000 chickens who died are at least now at peace from their daily stuffed battery cage existence. And those calves in the office?? Where are their mothers?! Oh that's right, those calves were stolen from their mothers at birth so humans could take the milk and sell it. Where's the sympathy there?? I can't believe that no one talks about the animal agricultural industry as a main driver of climate change, and yet we are talking about climate change every day now and a fact. The hypocrisy is unbelievable. We deserve everything that's coming to us!

We in BC have had it so good up until just recently. My mom lives in the east. For years I've been hearing about rare but severe weather events happening in her part of the country. Here on the south coast of BC, we have had little to complain about. Prior to 2021, the interior of BC has had a few years of extreme forest fires but on the coast, the lower mainland, we've had it good.
That all changed in June of 2021. Almost 600 people died in a Heat Dome that was unprecedented. Now after rains that I found myself walking home in, the heaviest rains I've ever experienced, BC looks like it experienced a minor earthquake. Mudslides, bridges washed out, all major highways closed, the port of Vancouver cut off from the rest of Canada, no imports arriving, no exports to be shipped out, the rest of Canada is about to wake up to the fact the port of Vancouver is responsible for processing 70% of Canadian imports/exports. Yes, we will ship by truck to the rest of Canada via USA highways but the message here is nothing in life is guaranteed.
This Christmas I decided to put emergency preparedness kits together for my adult kids. I finished them about two weeks ago and they already picked them up. It's not too late to do the same. A good kit will cost you about $500 but that covers almost any emergency situation. A basic survival kit can be assembled for about $200. For yourself or loved ones, you should consider it. We should all have a kit on hand but who really bothers? 2021 in BC is a good reason to bother.
[NOTE: My kids were not at all enthusiastic about picking these kits up & storing them but now they understand that some things in life are just common sense necessary.] P*E*A*C*E

Evil, actually, because liars are basing crummy public policy on it and spending $Billions we don’t have. For what? To fight the weather? Hurricanes, floods, tornados, blizzards, etc. have been around longer than humans have. The volcano in the Canary Islands has produced more “greenhouse gases” in less than two months than the whole of Europe emits in a year, according to government measurements. When you couple such practices with global climate heating, overpopulation, ceaseless paving over of the environment and habitat loss coupled with growing inequity and avarice, such results are rather unsurprising.
