Did Zoom recently change their audio options? I can't seem to have original audio and noise suppression on at the same time, I have to choose between them. Zoom now has these two options: 'Zoom Optimised Audio' (with noise suppression) and 'Original Sound for Musicians' which disables the noise suppression. When you click 'Original Sound On; in the top left corner, it tells you "Original Sound for Musicians is on. Noise Suppression is disabled." I guess there is no way to have original sound with noise suppression anymore in Zoom?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! 🤩🔥 i've been searching for a solution more than 2 days already on how can i make my audio clearer knowing im using a boya pm700. It's such a big help! more good energy to you guys 😍
Pat, dog, thank you for this. If someone could answer two questions for me I'd appreciate it. 1) when you say use headphones is Bluetooth acceptable or do I need to line-in? 2) When saving Zoom podcast can I save them to an external Hard Drive or is local (directly on my computer Hard Drive) the best alternative? Thanks!
GREAT tips! Two questions 1) So are you saying you WOULDN'T ask your guest to adjust their ZOOM settings? 2) Can you lock the screen on just the guest while recording in Squadcast (AKA not show my face - I use a 4K camera for that)?
I very much appreciate the video. At the 4:49 mark when you reference the original sound off control in the upper left hand corner of the screen I have an issue. I find no such control on my screen. Could you suggest something else or what am I doing wrong. Thanks
I’ve been a podcast editor for 3 years or so now. I have not seen a client get exceptional quality a single time using zoom. I always push them to switch off of zoom because it pretty wastes every dollar they spent on their fancy mics. Sure you can get it to sound decent, but if you spent good money on a mic, it’s not worth your time using zoom imo
I dunno, I know Squadcast has better audio, but I'm getting consistently dropped interviews at the 40 minute mark and having lag with my guest, ethernet or not. I am so frustrated by this that I've been experimenting with going to the unthinkable Zoom. I always have Zoom as a plan b and if nothing works (even going into phantom mode) we switch to zoom with all the settings above, which do help. With AI to clean up audio, the sound is almost as good as Squadcast at the end.
What are your thoughts on Soundtrap? I use it to record with a friend who lives out of state. We usually get good audio, but I have to run each track through audacity to remove background noise. Do you think I lose audio quality exporting each track twice before putting it in the final mix?
What about trying to improve the audio quality of a Zoom session that's already been recorded, using Audacity, for instance? Is that possible and what steps are needed?
I signed up for the free trial of Squadcast and I immediately ran into tons of problems. Has anyone else tried it? Did anyone else have difficulty setting it up?
I am guilty, will definitely make the switch but its good to have Zoom as a background as I've had guests that experienced many problems with other platforms in the past and Zoom is just a convenient and reliable backup when everything else fails
Sending this to my on-camera team members, so they can make the necessary adjustments, while I go back to editing.

What about guests who are comfortable with zoom and averse to downloading or learning anything new "just for your podcast"?

Thanks guys! Super useful. :)
Thank you!
Thanks, but if we want to do an interview podcast and can't ask your guest to purchase a special mic and headphones, what then?

Just to double check, do I have to have my podcast guest do all the zoom settings or just for my end?
Thanks Pat and Alban (I heard Alvin) Haha! This is really helpful to podcasters and also for editors. :)
Just tested it out. Works amazing.

You recommend zoom or Riverside fm?

What do you recommend to use instead of Zoom
@@henryg8085 Discord works really well but a lot of people over 30 hate it lol. StreamYard is my second favorite.
Good topic, thanks

Why doesn't Pat use headphones, but the guest needs to use them? Is a setting preventing the audio from rounding back to the mic in Pat's setups?

I've enjoyed discord and the sound quality is great but it's a pain to record it with OBS
