What's your favorite of these mechanisms? I really love games with a time track!

since I enjoy so many heavy euros, I do enjoy mechanics that can assist players in developing early strategy (asymmetric player powers, secret/public objectives).
once I am more competitive, I do appreciate some more subtle mechanics that give strategies more textures and layers.... such as
      - Variable turn order (i.e Brass)
      - Multi-use cards (i.e La granja)

Yes, player powers and objectives can be really helpful in guiding your strategy! Especially in games where you have a ton of options!

My inner pedant is grateful to you for calling these mechanisms and not mechanics.

I think these videos are a great idea!. As someone who was new to Boardgames about four years ago, the amount of references used to describe very niche and specific rule sets made absolutely no sense to me. I felt I was decoding some secret language and it made it feel a little inaccessible. This is great beginner friendly run-down for anyone new to the hobby, or for anyone who doesn't want to admit that they don't fully understand all these labels!
