I'm so glad you made the visit on our behalf! I was there in 1965, but never got anywhere near the Martello Towers. I've alsways been interested, and hope to be staying a night in the Shipwreck Loft at the marina in a week or so. I'm no longer fit enough to do much exploring, so am very grateful for all the videos of HMS Ganges and of Shotley.
Nice one. The Martello towers form a fascinating part of our history. It's good that you were able to get onto one that had not been altered too much and still looked as it would have when it was in use. They would have certainly been a formidable force had there been a land invasion. Brave girl going up that ladder :-)
Thanks you. We really enjoy exploring interesting places like these, really love all their history.. Stu went up the ladder too which was a big challenge for him as he's scared of heights, I was very proud of him, there wasn't much space up there so it was just easier for me to just do the recording. Just shows how high that tower is, looks more or less the height of three martello towers! Did well to climb to there, looked an awful long way but impressive place. Cheers for showing us more of the site and liking the drone footage guys :)
It certainly felt higher than it looked on the video! Really wish I'd gone to the top now, it was inside our first martello tower and it didn't disappoint.. Thanks for your comment, we are still learning with the drone, it's was only the second time I'd ever flown one, hopefully we'll be able to produce some great fottage with it in the future 😊👍

No it was quite an achievement to have got us up there.. wanted to get to the very top but chicken out half way lol. Was a nice place to explore though as we hadn't been in one before. Thanks for watching Dorothy 😁

Joins Ganges in 1965 got put on defaulters for climbing it, the best view is from the roof
