Thank you for being such a pauper advocate. I've been waiting years for it to catch on in the paper world. Now I can finally brush the dust off my Affinity and Mono Black decks and play them in real life since pauper events are regularly firing at my LGS down here in Fresno CA. You have a large amount of my gratitude for this, prof! Let's all work to keep up the momentum and get an official non-MTGO paper ban-list and regs so that it can be even more accessible to aspiring budget players!
Great that Pauper is finally getting paper support.Pauper, love it. Drifted to Pauper around Khans block after 4yrs of playing modern and deciding it was just to expensive to keep 4 modern decks up and running
This looks pretty close to my UB Delver list in Pauper, but I really like the choices you made in Compulsive Research and Forbidden Alchemy. I'm going to have to try those out!
Cryptic serpent would be a good creature for this deck as well. It has “This spell costs 1 less to cast for each instant and sorcery card in your graveyard”
Thanks for another Pauper video Prof.! Here's hoping each GP keeps breaking the last GP's record for players! Hopefully it's turning heads at Wizards and we get a Pauper GP. :D
Thanks Professor for doing these videos. You were the reason why I got into pauper and after a year of playing magic....this is probably my favorite format.....I just wished there was a bigger scene in San Diego.......
UG Tempo. Delver+Nimble Mongoose+Werebear. You run bounce cards and control spells. The goal is to drop early threats and then pop! Threats off the board and get in.
I wish Bounding Krasis had been printed at Common, then maybe such a deck could be a thing.. It's my dream to be able to play UG Tempo in Pauper, but alas.. Closest we have is Madness, and that's not exactly T1. :/
just a minor hint Prof: maybe you should show the common prints of the cards in this deck, so new viewers aren't confused if the card is actually playable
Better yet, don't show the online-only versions of cards with price tags in dollars instead of tickets. (He can't do both at the same time, though, because Chainer's Edict.)
Some cards were never printed in common exept online, so for cards like chainer’s edict he has to show or the online only version with the common simbol, or the printed real card but with the uncommon symbol
Last weekend was awesome! I was so happy that I got to meet you and I got to play some pauper and talking to you was pretty awesome you’re such a down to earth guy!
Professor every day you do your videos better, you are good i cannot imagine what cool videos you are going to do in the future. thanks for giving attention to Pauper. Saludos desde mexico :D
He finally made a video of the pauper deck I play. It was bound to happen I guess. This a great control deck. Usually only lose with bad draws or getting overrun by slivers or elves if you don't have enough early answers.
Building this on MTGO at the moment, just want to offer a little ultra-budget tip: Vodalian Zombie can be substituted for Zombie Outlander, the former costs over a ticket while the latter is less than a tenth of one. The only functional difference is that Prof is running a Merfolk Zombie in an old frame, which is slightly cooler than a Zombie Scout from Conflux. They're both 2/2s with pro-green that cost UB.
Dear Professor, Could we see a Pauper ‘Glyphs’ tech? It’s a really cool deck which tries to reverse engineer the current aggro meta by playing walls and then flinging them at your opponent for the win.
Given that none of the Glyphs are Pauper-legal (at least as long as it's trying to be a paper format with online deck construction rules), this seems unlikely.
Prof loved the video -- thanks to you I got into pauper and I love it. Also your guides are super, duper helpful. It is also good to know that others share the same cynical and realistic views on WOTC and strengthens the good feeling when people such as yourself share the views. love this channel.
Its a UW deck with a splash of G. The core of the deck is Evoke creatures with angelic renewal which will get me 2 triggers or in my late game finisher a Walker of the Grove plus a token. I also have a few blink effects for added value with spellstutter sprites to go with the blinks. Wretched Gryffs are in the deck to proc angelic renewal and value off of the ETB triggers. Deck is fun and people don't expect to play against it which is always a bonus!
I’ve been looking at pauper faeries, and I know how much you like those. Might be cool, interesting tempo/control deck, you should check it out, maybe do a deck tech?
I personally prefer the UB Teachings list; Teachings for Teachings, now THAT'S Magic! And I just love winning via Buying Back Evincar's Justice.. Good stuff.
So, a question for everyone out there who are experienced in pauper: Why run Prohibit over Mana Leak? Prohibit seems more limiting in my eyes. That said, Ive never played Pauper so I'm not experienced.
Ryanosaurus Wrecks pauper is a much slower format that modern. It's the only format where I've seen a 14 card stack. Prohibit is always a hard counter for opponents spells when fighting in counterwars where mana leak often would be dead. There are a couple match ups where it could be okay but often those match ups are where counters are too slow.
Could we get more Pauper Content again? Please? Can we peer pressure Gavin into giving us Pauper Challenger Decks? And sorry for the spam, I just like to push the alogrhythm for pauper
Nice deck! Apologies for the ignorance but “many (maybe not that many) Magic: the Gathering players ask - where is that elusive bell on the TH-cam page? Is it available to a non-subscriber of the channel?” Cheers!
Augur of Bolas is great! It's not only an 1/3 for 2 but it will always let you look at the top 3 cards and then put them on the bottom of your deck! In any order! How is that not great?
One of my dreams, is to be able to buy mtgo license to play pauper, I made a jund delirium list on paper and have no one to play with ;-; I have quite a few ideas that would be pretty doable with mtgo prices. Wow I just love pauper, not a fan of control but that deck is sweet, what about some naya zoo, or, UW delver? I think is great
This is hilarious, but also a great deck tech... that is gonna make me buy yet another pauper deck... dammit prof, you got me. Again. OH. And if Rich wants a blue control deck, Mono-U tron exists in Pauper... and even uses the same strategy as the modern deck! Mono-U Pauper-Tron is my JAM.
I'd like to see a video where you could talk about pauper stables. I'm super interested in the format, but I'm afraid it might go up in prize in the not so far future.
the thing about the format is that it's designed to stay cheap. The entire format is commons and that means if WOTC decides to take the format seriously (and if they're talking about it at a GP, it's now serious) that means it gives WOTC the ability to reprint all kinds of common slots in any sets they want to support the format. The cards literally cannot go over a few dollars tops as justifying commons at an insane price would have a massive outcry. I don't play pauper but have been seriously considering it since there's a league at my local LGSes that are getting a lot of attention.
James Joseph that makes sense! You should check out that league! I have a buddy that I play a bit of pauper with (he has a lot of pauper decks) and besides cube and commander I think it’s my favorite way to play.
Thank you for being such a pauper advocate. I've been waiting years for it to catch on in the paper world. "Many Rich Hagans asked the question"... That was glorious xD
I have to admit prof: you sold me on pauper, and many people at my locals as well. We've got a small league going, and its been great.
Cryptic serpent would be a good creature for this deck as well.
It has “This spell costs 1 less to cast for each instant and sorcery card in your graveyard”
Haha it just got Down shifted
Thanks for another Pauper video Prof.! Here's hoping each GP keeps breaking the last GP's record for players! Hopefully it's turning heads at Wizards and we get a Pauper GP. :D
It's so good to have a big magic TH-camr pushing pauper, thanks prof.
Perfect, I was looking for a Dimir deck for my Pauper Library. Thank you, Prof. You never disappoint!
Thanks Professor for doing these videos. You were the reason why I got into pauper and after a year of playing magic....this is probably my favorite format.....I just wished there was a bigger scene in San Diego.......
PROF! Loving pauper tech, how about all the big decks in the format? Affinity, Tron, Delver U and UR, ELVES! I want them all! Keep up the good work.
Dimir means dark in icelandic.

Better yet, don't show the online-only versions of cards with price tags in dollars instead of tickets.
(He can't do both at the same time, though, because Chainer's Edict.)
Seconded. I was confused at the inclusion of uncommons.
ArmadilloAl It Kind of makes sense, considering how the legality list goes off of MTGO legality.
Some cards were never printed in common exept online, so for cards like chainer’s edict he has to show or the online only version with the common simbol, or the printed real card but with the uncommon symbol
Angler is just an awesome card. The art and mechanical are fantastic. Cool common.
Last weekend was awesome! I was so happy that I got to meet you and I got to play some pauper and talking to you was pretty awesome you’re such a down to earth guy!
So happy that CF and SCG are finally seeing the light. You’ve done it Professor!
Professor every day you do your videos better, you are good i cannot imagine what cool videos you are going to do in the future. thanks for giving attention to Pauper. Saludos desde mexico :D
Thanks professor 🤓 for pushing pauper, cant wait here in new jersey
I'm so glad Pauper is getting more attention! It's so much fun!
Now, when are we going to get a tech for the spiciest format, Pauper EDH?
machinamawatcher Man that would be an amazing format if they just could get a better mana base. Undercity informer was an awesome deck
He finally made a video of the pauper deck I play. It was bound to happen I guess. This a great control deck. Usually only lose with bad draws or getting overrun by slivers or elves if you don't have enough early answers.

Just picked up the pieces and built it. Im looking forward to starting out in pauper. Thanks for the advice proff!
Awesome video man, keep it up. Your videos are so well produced and informational
Dear Professor,
Could we see a Pauper ‘Glyphs’ tech? It’s a really cool deck which tries to reverse engineer the current aggro meta by playing walls and then flinging them at your opponent for the win.
Given that none of the Glyphs are Pauper-legal (at least as long as it's trying to be a paper format with online deck construction rules), this seems unlikely.
Thanks for your Pauper Content. That's a format I would love to get into. Not sure how many Rich Hagons watching there are, tough.
Thanks a lot for being at GP London. Lost all the games but learned a lot about the format see you at the next GP. :)
I switched to Pauper. built four decks this week. Played a bunch of matches. Pauper is fun. Thanks Prof!
Just found this video and built and played the deck. Thanks for the deck tech, this is fun and fast.
Prof loved the video -- thanks to you I got into pauper and I love it. Also your guides are super, duper helpful. It is also good to know that others share the same cynical and realistic views on WOTC and strengthens the good feeling when people such as yourself share the views. love this channel.
I want to see a brew of your own design Prof! That or an updated Slivers deck.
Thanks to your videos I’ve brewed an evoke combo deck! Thanks prof!!
Philip Rybak what’s the combo? :)
Just because it's a pet peeve of mine: it's pronounced "ah-ger," Professor.
This deck makes Pauper look very enticing to me.
I am so glad that Pauper is now a thing!
Submerged boneyard was printed at common in the planeswalker decks.
Well great. We already had DIsmal Backwater and Dimir Guildgate though.
you have helped make pauper my new favorite format
i love pauper. thank you for pushing this format so hard, it's such a wholesome, ridiculous format.
Haha the "many Rich Hagons" joke cracked me up :D
Id like to see you put together a dinosaur pauper with new dinos and older cards for support
Forbidden alchemy is a card advantage engine. It’s a 2 for 1 after flashback.
Classy way to call somebody out. ;)
Props Prof.
I’ve been looking at pauper faeries, and I know how much you like those. Might be cool, interesting tempo/control deck, you should check it out, maybe do a deck tech?
Good old Counterspell. Love Counterspell. I’m playing this format to play Counterspell.
Still watching pauper guides years later. We play paper pauper now that it’s a wizards legit format!
Take a shot every time prof says pauper
You're paying for my medical bills...
Is it possible that goblins make a comeback? Haven't seen them in a while and pack quite a punch! Great video prof.
I personally prefer the UB Teachings list; Teachings for Teachings, now THAT'S Magic! And I just love winning via Buying Back Evincar's Justice.. Good stuff.
I love these pauper deck tech videos!
Great video Prof.! I love pauper, as I can no longer afford to keep up a Standard legal deck.
Thank you! This might be my intro to Pauper!
Just played this to a 3-1 finish at FNM last night, it's fun and powerfully interactive.
Best intro ever! jajajajaja I love this pauper decks, thanks profesor!
I'd love a red/white or red/blue creature focused pauper deck as one suggestion, thank you. This was a great deck to think about.
I would love to see a pauper deck tech that is orzhov
B/W Ixalan Vampires works for me!
Check out Strictly Better MTG. Dev gives a pretty decent suggestion...
Nightsky Mimic + Edge of the Divinity can do a fair job.
Take your pick!
Aggro - Vampires
Midrange - Orzhov Midrange
Control - Pestilence
Combo(ish) - Aristocrats
I would like to see a tech on a WB Pestilence deck, I've looked up some lists and there is a lot of builds
So, a question for everyone out there who are experienced in pauper: Why run Prohibit over Mana Leak? Prohibit seems more limiting in my eyes. That said, Ive never played Pauper so I'm not experienced.

There are a couple match ups where it could be okay but often those match ups are where counters are too slow.
Hey Prof. Would you consider reviewing apps and websites that allow you to inventory your collection and track price? I'd appreciate it!!
What Samosa he has though o don't have a link
Ohhhh this deck looks like so much fun! I guess this will make a great first pauper deck. :)
Three videos in the same week!
Your spoiling us prof
This deck looks sweet! Thanks for sharing!
I
Pushing Pauper is great, thanks !
Is it available to a non-subscriber of the channel?”
Cheers!
Directly right of the subscribe button. Shows up once you've subbed.
Thanks! Was suspecting that to be the case
"3 Think Twice." Shows X2. Ah prof, always the same.
I'd love to see some kinda spider pauper deck!
Can you make a video about Pauper Commander (PDH)?
I prefer to also swap two islands for halimar depths for more deck stacking and nice option for mini tutoring
Where can i see that interview Professor? Iconic Counterspell!
I have no idea if it's possible, but I'd love to see an artifact pauper! Affinity is cool or if there's others :D
Talking about black and blue, I've made a dimir deck about mill, discard, draw and unblockable creatures, it's a total nightmare to play against
Augur of Bolas is great! It's not only an 1/3 for 2 but it will always let you look at the top 3 cards and then put them on the bottom of your deck! In any order! How is that not great?
Plis professor, a Madness budget deck Next time!!!! (pauper, modern,...anything!!!)
I just made an alchemy deck in MTGO for less than 0.5 tix! Pauper is awesome!
What about Pieces of the Puzzle?
Surprised to not even see one copy of Snuff Out. That should be an auto include in any deck running swamps.
Can you do a deck tech on the Midnight Guard + Presence of Gond combo?
Your face when he said pauper at the end xD
One of my dreams, is to be able to buy mtgo license to play pauper, I made a jund delirium list on paper and have no one to play with ;-; I have quite a few ideas that would be pretty doable with mtgo prices. Wow I just love pauper, not a fan of control but that deck is sweet, what about some naya zoo, or, UW delver? I think is great
Dude, definitely do it! Pauper needs more people making videos and content!
What is with the multiple different single removals in the deck? The deck looks kind of weak (2021 standards) but the vid is great. thank you
I love vincer's justice
I'd love to see him do a Fog Frog list.
Teddiursa92 he did, search up golgari tortured existence, the deck has the spore frog loop.
Pauper mill!!!!!!!
Kaladinar Gross
Pofessor! Professor ! wil there be pauper events at GP Amsterdam at 30march-1april, Im dying to know
This is hilarious, but also a great deck tech... that is gonna make me buy yet another pauper deck... dammit prof, you got me. Again. OH. And if Rich wants a blue control deck, Mono-U tron exists in Pauper... and even uses the same strategy as the modern deck! Mono-U Pauper-Tron is my JAM.

Shrivel is a sweeper for a lot of decks in the format
Uhhh 5c Tron is a pretty damn good choice for control...
Professor, I love your videos, but that pronunciation of "augur" was painful.
@@balaam_7087 He is an english professor and is purposely mispronouncing the names because of an ongoing joke in the magic community.
Keep pauper coming, sir.
That doom blade was uncommon
I would love to see your take on black white tough clerics
I have the teaching deck online, can't wait to update it
More UB love, let's see some flicker
Chris Edwards Flicker dat b word yo!
Great dimir deck!
Would it be possible to make a competitive pauper eldrazi deck?
Foz Zy there's pauper tron
there's also reanimator bringing back ulamog's crusher with haste via dragons breath and swing for game
My control deck is mono-U mono-counterspells, but it does kinda lean on Deserts, which are of questionable legality since they're not on modo.
Dimir alchemy sounds like a greek guy to me.
I want to build a mono black devotion, so a deck tech on that would be cool
Pauper Grixis Affinity
