    Brilliantly done by Tonya Crowe. Harem could have been fatal. And coming up with a list puzzle for Insurance was incredible

      Never heard of either one of these D list "celebrities", but you're right, not a bad player. Rosella was much cuter than either one of them.

    I remember "The Cavanaughs" was the answer to a puzzle once. No one got it, because no one really knew anything about the show. It was that big of a flop.

    It worked this time, but why is "cat" always given for "jaguar"?
    "cougar"!

    • @TommygunNG
      @TommygunNG 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because "cat" is generic for a feline, and the initial letter takes it from there.

    From the original 1988 broadcast on Super Password, someone can win $25,000 with just 10 answers from a celebrity's one word clue in the end game on Super Password. And if someone can play the cashword right, someone can win $4,000. And as host Bert Convy was doing quite a show when he had Tonya Crowe and Mary Tanner play Super Password on NBC, he surely had a ball doing the show, as he did on Tattletales during its two incarnations on CBS. Both game shows now air on BUZZR.

      Notice that on the second go-around with that word, for the first time ever in an end game, Bert gives the answer away with some seconds left on the clock.

    Only other time two women were the celebs on regular weeks of the show were with Betty WHite and Vicki Lawrence in 1985 on week and another week with Betty WHite and Carol Channing. An all female celeb week happened in early 1987 with Lucille Ball, Betty WHite, Estelle Getty, and Ann Doosenberry of Lucy's then short-lived Life with Lucy. Tonya was 17 at this point and probably the youngest celebrity to appear on this show. Laurie Hendler of Gimme a Break was 20 when she made her first appeance.

      SOme stations aired SUper Password at different times of day. I suspect if it aired before Noon EST, as did on WPXI PIttsburgh(aired at 11AM in 1984-85 and for part of 1987 at 9AM), it aired on a day delay. It aired same day at 3:30PM on KYW from 9/16/85-9/2/88 then aired at 12:30PM for a bit in Fall 1988 and then at 10AM through 1/20/89.

      What I've often wondered is why NBC scheduled it for noon in the first place. Seems like 10am (which was sitcom reruns at the time it debuted anyway) would've been a much better slot.
