Provocations 1

Today’s video is a little bit different. It’s about creating “art provocations,” and it’s really geared more towards parents. At Suder, the art room is a choice based environment. Supplies are set up for students to create their own ideas and collaborate with classmates to construct, sculpt, paint, draw, etc. I am constantly amazed at the imaginations and abilities of my students, and feel that teacher directed projects often limit the children to what the teacher asks them to do. This way of working is a little tricky over distance learning, as it relies heavily on the classroom environment, but these are some examples of how to create an open ended “provocation” for your child using loose parts.
