I just found this book today at Michael's. I am a watercolor artist and I love painting water scenes, so this was right up my alley. Thanks for sharing Clare!
Beautiful Book Claire, and yes i would love a tutorial on how to color your picture , i really love the result of everythings, so learn how to color the Bow and other things i can't name in english would be Awesome! Thank You for the great review Claire!
I love the book, but even more....I love how you made that page your own. Thank you for your creativity and for sharing it. The tartan reminds me of the 80’s preppy look. I love it!
I MUST buy this book- thank you so much for reviewing it and enabling me to buy another book. Loved your completed page and would love to see you do more background and how you made the bubbles please!!! Once again, I bow down to your talent and thank you for helping me learn. Hugs from Texas
I bought 2 copies of this from different Michael's art stores in the U.S., and from what I've observed, the paper is *not* the same as Pop Manga number 1; it won't take any water-based media without a weird, chippy texture coming through, and that texture grabs pigment and holds it so the gross texture stays even when the page has dried. The first Pop Manga book did NOT do this. Does anyone know of a source selling the book that uses different (better) paper?
That's most unusual. I really like a lot of the images. Not all of them, but a lot of them. I am going to put it on my Wish List. I think your colouring is beautiful. Her face and hair are really lovely. The bubbles are perfect for the page. I'd love to see a Stickels tutorial. I don't know how you use them. I've seen some really fine work, but the nozzle looks too big and clunky for it so I'm intrigued.
I love this book! I don't buy too many new books but I am definitely buying this one. Your background looks nice. I haven't tried acrylic backgrounds yet. I am going to have to try it one of these days.
Miss Claire have you ever order any books from Ali Express? The reason I'm asking is because I found some great Chinese and pop magna type books and especially this one that is Spring Flowers and Girls. I think is the name? I would love to order that one but I'm scared I'll be ordering stolen art work or something like that. The book has great reviews and there are photos posted on the Ali website but I was wondering if you or anyone you know has ever ordered from them.
Great review, I loved what you coloured, those acrylic paints can be a bit of a pain to make opaque, I think it depends on which colours you use. I always use matt craft paint (Americana) in my colour books (mostly Kerbie's) and I find that it works well and doesn't need a second coat. Tfs xo
Check our the Himi/Maya gouache. It'd the jelly gouache. Acts almost like acrylic paint and dried much the same. I mix a bit of water with it until it's the consistency of melted ice cream and it is opaque with one brush swipe. I know this is late but I hope to give you another option if you haven't tried already.

How does the paper compare to her first book? I can't afford it now but I'm dying to get this, love Camilla!
I don't have her first book xx
Bummer. Anyone else know?
My daughter bought me this book with her babysitting money! And the paper seems identical.
